Reminds me of the time that I brought my pontoon float boat to a spring pond in Langlade county. It was summer, but it's still ice cold. It took me around an hour to bring all of the gear to load up the boat. I took one step off of the tiny decrepit dock. I thought the bottom was solid enough to stand on to launch. After sinking in sludge up to my head, I immediately jumped out of the freezing cold water and grabbed all of my stuff. Then I chucked it into the truck and drove an hour home. I didn't have any extra clothing along. The next trip to the same spot my drone hit a branch and crashed into the pond.

Make a pontoon outrigger out of two 2 liter soda bottles, two sections of 4 inch pvc and a 1x2 oak wooden strip. Drill through the gunwales on each side and put a screw threaded through the holes and hold the outrigger on with two wing nuts. Then when you are out on the water if you want to remove/store the outrigger, loosely attach oak strip with one wingnut and swing it around along the gunwale and mark and drill a third hole to attach it along the side of the canoe bottle/pvc side up. The longer you make the outrigger within reason the more stable it is.
