Bad Drivers - Breaking the law in front of a cop

I've had this happen to me numerous times at this intersection so I was ready for it. This time there was a cop to witness the whole thing.

Yes. But I think I know what happened here. The truck driver probably saw the cop behind him and became fixated on the cop car, and then tried to move out of the cops way, while distracted and fixated on the cop car.

when making a turn ur suppose to stay in the lane u turned out of. in this case, truck should have stayed in the left lane he was in. by law u cannot change lanes in the middle of the intersection. he didnt even signal. so he royally fucked up in front of a OPP

It is illegal and dangerous to cut someone off in traffic, and this is likely a ticket for improper turning, as the pickup was turning in front of you. Another common way of being cut off is an unsafe lane change.

I heard unsafe turn is when ur almost swinging to side left or at fast and slightly speed close without light blinkers showing ur going to change and. Safe turning to right to the left is when u wait for I reasonable amount is available or is lil behind u and u put blinkers to turn to whatever lane ur desire to go and u go in there

Must be in Floriduhh. I see people do all sorts of shite when a cop is very nearby and the cops never do anything. Either that, or there's hardly ever a cop around when you want one to be. South Florida Sheriff's are too lenient..or just plain lazy about busting people for traffic violations. Highway Patrol is a different story.

Always have to be very careful when changing lanes after a turn like that. It's normal for someone to want to move to the right lane in the hopes of being less visible to cops, but it's also normal to get into the left lane when about to make that turn, since the left lane is left turn only while the middle lane is left or straight.

I drive for a living, i cant count on all my fingers and toes how many stupid people change lanes, and pull into traffic without looking. They just go and hope for the best, then when u honk at them for almost driving into u, they throw their hands up like your in the wrong! Lol

People get nervous when a cop pulls up behind them or nearby. One time an idiot woman in the opposite of the intersection from me, failed to yield at the light making a left turn; while I was going straight. Had I not saw it coming, the woman would've ran right into me. All because there was a cop car nearby. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Motorists turning wide cross multiple lanes of traffic is the most common offense I see on the road. I almost got run off in a situation just like this with two left turning lanes. I remember being taught in drivers ed to always turn in the most immediate lane (one turning lane) but I rarely see drivers practicing this. I can guarantee if someone does this regularly, he or she will eventually do what this driver in the truck did, unaware of multiple lanes turning, and cause an accident.

Had the same kind of thing happened to me. I was driving 40 in a 45 zone (I’ll admit pretty slow but it lasts only 1.5 miles). And there was a woman or girl behind me riding my ass pretty hard, and it came to a point where she passed me on a road where you can’t pass another car. And a cop came out of nowhere and pulled that lady or girl over instantly, it was swift justice

Better to take the inside lane on turns, to protect yourself against these things. Looks like the truck was planning to turn right anyway, so he would have been better to take the outside lane to begin with. The truck's driver didn't even signal, so they clearly never had an intention of making a safe lane change. If a collision had occurred, I would not have called it an accident.

I read somewhere that cops can control which part of the bar lights up front or back so it’s possible the front was lit up for the truck to see but not the back

They can have front lights flashing one pattern and the back lights flashing a totally different pattern (including not doing anything). In one or more instances, some light bars can have upto 30 or so different flash patterns that an officer can select to use as needed.

Looks like you were in his blind spot. He passed and didn't know you were there. The right and left rear corner panels of large vehicles don't offer the driver view on cars or smaller objects. Your breaks and horn worked as intended.

@@crownvicca - he did stay in his lane thru the turn, it was immediately after that he attempted to move into your lane. the fact that you arrived out of nowhere contributed to it. he never saw or noticed you due to your late arrival and was likely looking in his rear view at the cop and wanted to move out of his way. if i were you, i would come to a fuller, longer stop at the light, even though it happened to turn green as you arrived. the truck was blocking your view of the left side of the intersection - so due that to the blind spot you could hit a dumb late crossing pedestrian or a car running the red light coming from that direction. there is no bad driving here on either party, but you were the late arrival so it falls on you to protect yourself by being more cautious.

shitstinx the fact that you are arguing against the driver who actually stayed in his own lane is priceless. All drivers should be aware of their surroundings whether it be cars, pedestrians, etc. The driver of the black pickup truck obviously wasn’t paying enough attention. Keep in mind he didn’t even use a turn signal, he just shot over in the lane without giving it a second thought which is why he was pulled over.

While this may be true, it is one of the reasons changing lanes in an intersection is illegal, signaling is required, and that there are specific rules for multiple lane turning, and the pickup violated all of these rules. The fact that the pickup bucked at hearing the horn and avoided a collision yet moved into the right lane moments after because of the exit suggests that was his intention all along. Pickup deserved tickets for all 3.
