Safe speed in a parking lot is 15-20 mph, slower if pedestrians are close.
@Kartkid02412 жыл бұрын
From what I've known there is no law that defends that. In fact it was that if you had to exceed the speed limit to pass, then it was considered an unsafe pass. I know they talked about wanting to change that, but as far as I'm aware it never was changed.

He was stopped in the road waiting for someone in front of him to turn..... I don't see how it is possible to "tailgate" at a virtual standstill. The camera I use is mounted on my dash. I set it up before I start driving and don't touch it again until I get to my destination. I don't see how that affects my concentration at all while being behind the wheel.

in ct you you CANT pass if you exceed speed limit AT ALL. they only way to pass some one is if they are going below posted limits
@Nathan66612 жыл бұрын
3:32 The driver has to pass on the right because the other driver failed to move back over after passing. You don't DRIVE in the left lane on a 4-lane interstate...you drive right, pass left, drive right.
@Nathan66612 жыл бұрын
2:50 When passing you are required to do so as quickly and safely as possible. You don't have to abide by the speed limit if passing another vehicle on a 2-lane road as doing so would endanger people in the incoming lane. Imagine the time it would take to pass another car if you were only going 1mph faster.

Other than the semi in the parking lot and the siver Pontiac going 20 mph over the limit, I still don't see much bad driving.

Finally, Chicagoland and downstate has something in common, aside from being in the same state!

If by speeding you mean going about 25mph..... uhh ok. The reason I almost hit the vehicle that crossed in front of me was b/c he pulled out right in front of me..... Also I review the footage I capture on my computer at home. Setting up a camera and hitting record before I start driving doesn't affect my "concentration" while driving in any way.
@Kartkid02412 жыл бұрын
Well, they do say that you should supply from enough room between you and the car in front of you to move around him or not hit him if you get rear-ended, I know the camera angle makes it look like your closer than you really are so I'm not sure if you did do this, but in a way it is possible to tailgate at a stand still.
@JacobsEVAdventures12 жыл бұрын
All true but you shouldn't be going 75+ MPH in a 55 zone in order to pass cars already going over the speed limit like this guy was. For reference I was probably going around 60-65mph in the video and you can see how fast he was pulling away from me.

If I lived in springfield I would drive like that in the hopes that when I die they would bury me outside of springfield.

No situation requires it though. Law says that if you can't safely pass at or below the speed limit, then you are making an unsafe pass. Stay behind the guy. Don't get me wrong, if I'm the cop I would understand (not at 95 though sorry) I'd give you a 5 or 10 MPH over leeway, but its still illegal.
@Nathan66612 жыл бұрын
The amount of time you are travelling at that speed is minimal. I have passed people going over 95mph because the situation required it. If the speed limit is 70 and the passing zone is small you have to do whatever it takes. POs understand this.

Passing people doesn't give you the right to speed or to tailgate. (or break any road law for that matter)

I live in a suburb of chicago. These drivers seem as bad as up here. Surprised there aren't any dashcam videos, or that i can find. I want to start some, but if only i had a dashcam.

It's illegal to NOT overtake in the left lane. As soon as there is available space in the right lane, you are required by law to get over. If someone undertakes you, it is because you were violating the Highway Code. If they were able to pass you on the right, there was room for your inattentive/incompetent ass to have gotten the hell over in the first place. Modern speed limits were designed for late 70's automobiles. With modern braking/cornering performance, it isn't unsafe to do 20 over.

Really? This is nothing. Take a drive to Chicago..or LA. Make sure to disable the audio though...don't want the mic to catch all the cursing you'll be doing.

I do have to say your driving is not the best...after following the silver car...and I am not making excuses for the bad drivers around here you were clearly tailgating him...while you are video taping and observing all of these "bad" drivers are you actually concentrating on your driving? I think not.
