A more obscure #BlindBlake song but a great one lyrically as well as clever use of the drop D tuning. I was not slavish and added a guitar solo but went for the Blake feel, inimitable as it is.

Blake is the most inimitable in my opinion. I mainly learn him not as an end but rather to assist in my own songs because his thumb rolling is very versatile in realms afar from blues and yeah, he’s freakin magic, great lyricist too and very underrated singer

Incredible technique and delivery on this tune. On Police Dog Blues, playing in standard tuning, key of E, harmonics done with one hand only - is pretty interesting. If you try it, I would like to know what you think. Thanks for posting.

Thanks! Yes, in standard one would need to use just one hand on those harmonics--that part wouldn't be so hard but I suspect things would get awkward (walking to the 3rd of the A-chord in the bass, for instance--he hits that 3rd throughout the song) in standard to preserve the guitar lines, esp the bass. Of course the tune could be done quite well in standard but would be a less faithful rendition, as it were.

Thanks, it’s a Blueridge parlor guitar from about 10 yrs ago, a pretty inexpensive guitar but I put 13 gauge on there to firm it up a bit.
