that was absolutely BRILLIANT! as far as the machine goes i never really liked the sounds when i heard them isolated on synth demo sites, but hearing them in a mix actually makes me appreciate what this little box can do! I will say I've always loved that logo the machine has though, it's so bizarre compared to all other synth gear but i love it

I used to have that Korg drum machine back in the 80s and I can attest to the fact that the buttons were awful and it was really tedious to program. But I was a poor musician and had to use whatever I could manage to get my hands on. Had some fun times jamming with friends using that cheesy drum machine and a couple synths.

I'm with you, I like that clap! Actually, for 80's lo-fi drum samples, I think they're mostly pretty good. Way better than the ultra-cheesy drum samples on my Roland D-20. Best crossover episode ever. Love the editing and damn, that genie can play! "Heartache" woke my cat up and made it stand at attention. I think it was paralyzed by the magical music. I've only watched a couple of Alex's videos. I clearly need to watch more. Funny how your channel keeps pushing me towards guys like him and Simon the Magpie. You are the true star in this corner of KZbin! It won't take long for everyone else to figure this out.

Lol. I bought one second hand in 86 and loved the easy programming. The sounds that it created were not very faithful to what they were meant to be but hey it was the 80s. I was playing synth pop at the time and wasn't caring about authentic sounds. It worked, it was useful, I got it for a very cheap price, and when sold I got a profit.

Man, one star on Vintage Synth! The ddd-1 though, I just looked it up, it's great...I had the ddd-5, my first drum machine. It has that dmx-sounding clap on it. As a drummer, I liked it because I could program odd time-signatures and practice with it.

I used to have this drum machine! I used the sync out (using a custom DIN to 1/4" cable), plugged into the pedal switch on my Roland Alpha-Juno 1, with the setting in the synth menu for the pedal input set to "program change" or whatever it's called. It would page through 8 programs in a bank, in time. Essentially creating an arpeggiator clock for the Juno. It worked great and was the only reason to keep that thing around. However I will NOT share the double plus ungood tracks that I recorded with that setup, circa 1990.
