Always use your gauges!! But I’m assuming he did already since well, he’s an HVAC technician lol but ya never know….

no gauges ? and you determine that an overcharged unit has a bad HPS ?

If you have voltage going in but not coming out before the HPS are you sure the high pressure switch is bad and not just doing what its supposed to be doing?

High pressure switches are normally closed and when they do open they should close back once the pressure drops below the rating for that pressure switch. This pressure switch got stuck in the open position thus not letting low voltage go through it to the contactor.

@ramseyhvac I understand how it works. The point I was making is simply that just because voltage is coming in but not leaving the outgoing side of the board is rarely a case of a failed pressure switch. More often than not its something working correctly and protecting something, such as the compressor. Thank you for your quick response. I'm not here to troll. I'm like you. I see a problem and immediately think of the things it could be is all.

@@kennybakerhvacr5751 I hear what you’re saying. And after I replaced the pressure switch, I checked amps on the compressor, fan motor, pressures, SC, SH, Delta T. I also checked the outdoor coils and they where not that dirty. Thanks for the question. We are all trying to learn.

High pressure is working its the run cap or condenser fan motor what tripped it there is a reason where are your gauges

We’ve been seeing the Newer YORK residential heat pumps (2 or 3 years old) with a shit load of faulty pressure switches And yes you have to braze it in 😐

YES, it is so obvious the pressure switch is bad!!!! It couldn't be that the pressure switch, a safety device, is doing its job. Can you say, "I am a hack"?
