Alistair Begg has been my favorite preacher for going on 20 years now. His careful exegesis of the Biblical text, love for God’s inerrant Word, and faithful leading of the flock have never wavered one bit. He’s a true pastor according to the NT, without clever stories or flashiness. One of a few men of God left in our pulpits, who teach so much about living the Christian life in truth and Spirit. May the Lord bless and keep Pastor Begg, his church and family, & each of you here in these last days! MARANATHA!!

It is crazy how subtle the swaying from The Faith is in the pulpits of America and how easily swayed most in the pews are. I am fearful for the "Church" in America. Have I turned to one side or the other in my own walk ? Yes I too have needed correction. In humility Oh God we ask for Your Mercy !!!
@jbbbygrace83015 жыл бұрын
bluesbondsman - AMEN, my Brother! I too am quite concerned & fearful for the “Church” in the USA. That narrow path that leads to life grows ever less trod by most “pastors” in America, leading their congregants to the wide path unto destruction. That path is a straight line, and stepping just a little bit away from it, will bit by bit, lead far, far away from Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and true regeneration. It grieves me so much that many in the American churches will hear, “I never knew you” from Christ. Truly, today’s “Church” is a vast mission field!

@@jbbbygrace8301 And so I pray daily both for the church - and also those who THINK they are the church. But is this any different than in the past? We've lost "cultural Christianity," so it's not popular to believe anymore, but we have these epistles and warnings because these things have existed since the time of the apostles! Yes, it is a vast mission field - but the hardest to reach can be those who think they're already "saved" because they did a repeat-after-me prayer.

(Hosea 4:6) My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget they children. (Hosea 14:9) Who is wise? Let them realize these things. Who is discerning? Let them understand. The ways of the LORD are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.

Christians need to be prepared to check the words of the pastors/teachers with the scriptures. I heard a preacher mention that he was talking with a woman who had been very abused and could not call God Father. So he prayed for her in the name of Mother God. I was stunned and grieved. I had been a treatment foster care mom for 15 years and had adopted 8 kids of various ages. Many could not call God Father. Not once did I call Him mother God! I taught them the other ways He had revealed Himself and we prayed for healing. With time they could see Him as a loving Father. After much prayer and fasting and grieving, I went to talk with the preacher. I told him only God has the right and authority to decide how He would reveal Himself to His creation, and Abe chose Father and Sin. No person has the right to do otherwise. I challenged him. I told him that he had opened the door for perversion in the church.After I left that church, I heard that many of the young people had become homosexuals. These were kids of the leaders. Some even “ transitioned” to be the opposite sex than they were born to be. There was much divorce, and adultery there as well. So sad! So very sad.

(Jeremiah 6:9-10) This is what the LORD Almighty says : "Let them glean the remnant of Israel as thoroughly as a vine; pass your hand over the branches again, like one gathering grapes." To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen. Their ears are closed so they cannot hear. The word of the LORD is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it.

(2 Timothy 4: 3-4) For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine: but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: $ And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (2 Peter 3:16-17) He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position.

(Ezekiel 14: 9-11) And if the prophet is enticed to utter a prophecy, I the LORD have enticed that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him and destroy him from among my people Israel. They will bear their guilt-the prophet will be as guilty as the one who consults him. Then the people of Israel will no longer stray from me, nor will they defile themselves anymore with all their sins. THey will be my people, and I will be their God, declares the Sovereign LORD!

(Jeremiah 8:8-9) How can you say, "we are wise, for we have the law of the LORD", when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely? The wise will be put to shame: They will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the LORD, what kind of wisdom do they have?

(Jeremiah 5: 1-5) Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem, look around and consider, search through her squares. If you can find but one person who deals honestly and seeks the truth, I will forgive this city. Although they say "As surely as the LORD lives; Still they are swearing falsely." LORD , do not your eyes look for truth? You struck them, but they felt no pain: you crushed them, but they refused correction. They made their faces harder than stone and refused to repent. I thought, "These are only the poor; they are foolish, for they do not know the way of the LORD, the requirements of their God. So I will go to the leaders and speak to them: surely they know the way of the LORD, the requirements of their God." But with one accord they too had broken off the yoke and torn off the bonds.

(Isaiah 9: 13-16) But the people have not returned to him who struck them, nor have they sought the LORD Almighty. So the LORD will cut off from Israel both head and tail, both palm branch and reed in a single day; the elders and the dignitaries are the head, the prophets who teach lies are the tail. Those who guide this people mislead them, and those who are guided are led astray.

Amazing how you teach... my question is about the "book" of which we are encouraged to refer to. It has been translated and transcribe and canonized and books removed and things added and edited. Along with punctuation... however are we to be confident in it? I do not question God or Jesus but the "men" who had good intentions... thank you.
@puglover81712 жыл бұрын
It makes sense that God would provide an objective book that we can check for the truth in and would look over it's preservation also. Also it's translation. We still have the original to keep checking the current by.

There Holy Spirit gives gifts to the church. Some pastors (which simply means Shepherds) teachers etc etc. There actually is no pastor of a church seen in scripture. They are given to the whole church to edify and build up the church. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. Ephesians 4:11-16 KJV

Maybe the title should be "bad men, bad women" Women too are responsible for what happens to them. If a woman , or anyone is gullible, this is a bad trait to have, and in many cases , people know exactly what they are getting themselves into. It's like sinning today and oh my we'll make up for it tomorrow. Women don't need protection, they need a large dose of reality, and to make responsible decisions, no excuses.

He reminds me that people will always be flawed and I should not rely on people, but Jesus Christ alone. I also wish that Mr. Begg would write a little book on the many song excerpts and poetic references he uses in his sermons. I'm 61 years old and not only recognize most of them but, enjoy them all!
