Tasty muted country & western style guitar riffs subtlety laid in there after the guitar solo. Heard this once on the radio way back and thought I was losing it. Only the purest of CCR aficionados will pick up on it

I heard this mix on some eastern Canadian radio station when I was working in media. I think it's been on one late-night infomercial as well.

There is more ( too much) reverb on the vocals and a different guitar overdub (some refugee chunka-licks that escaped from Cross Tie Walker). This version is hard to find nowadays. The original version took me to "Church" when I was just a wee boy. IMHO, the opening chords rank up there the with the opening chord of HD'sN by the Beatles; so simple yet so effective.

This was the first LP I ever bought. I listened to it many times. I didn't notice anything "alternate" about it. Other than mono, anything unusual about this mix?

+Basement Berean - This is not mono; the vocal echo is different; the middle break and last verse and chorus lead guitar riffs are mixed differently than the other version; etc.

+Kayodleman haven't listened to this LP for a long time, but I still have it. now I'm curious. Thanks.

+Basement Berean PS: If your copy of this LP is not the quadraphonic version, there is no difference. This tune and MIDNIGHT SPECIAL were both different mixes in the Fantasy Records vault that somehow got on the quad LP and also the blue label 45 version, as seen in the vid. For a while the quad version was mostly heard on programmed radio, but has been updated back to the original version mostly these days. ~ FWIW ~

+Kayodleman OK I feel better. I don't have the quadrophonic version and I never knew that existed. I have the LP I bought new for $3.99 in about 1975.

I think there is a rare Time-Life cd out there that has this Quad mix?
