Love your staff of expert consultants -- so informative on obscure questions about these films! As for favorite cinematic demons, I'll go with Walter Huston in ALL THAT MONEY CAN BUY (AKA, THE DEVIL & DANIEL WEBSTER) - about the wittiest and most charming devil you'll find; he'll make selling your soul a pleasure!

Talk about wasting a fantastically creative concept! And, that's coming from a Writer who posts his story ideas as role-plays on his _other_ YT channel. Concept and character deserve both better plot and theme. Also, the Devil and those who serve him, don't use trickery to acquire souls. People are more than happy to surrender themselves in exchange for money, power, youth, good looks. The deals are straight-up legit. No trickery involved.

Sorry, but this film was and currently is a classic. The reason it had to be set at some point in the past is because people were more religious back then so setting it in modern times would not have worked--see the remake of Carrie (2013) to see how--when compared to the 1976 original (and even the novel) film--it just does not work in a modern non-religious/non-bullying society. As for the old lady moving through the guests looking for ways to motivate them to surrender their souls each one of the household has a different price for their souls so finding that price is not as easy as he makes it sound here. The acting--especially the last man standing--is strong by people who no doubt understood that this film would not enhance their resume, but who also give their all. I do agree that she should have employed a gravelly stereotypical demon voice when she was in fact the demon, but then he would have claimed it was cliche. For a subdued little horror film this one fits the bill.

Satan (who went changing references to him/her/it in printing company from Satan to Stan) in the 60's Bedazzled starring Dudley Moore. I stayed up to watch that though I slept through some parts. There's also the remake that starred Brendan Fraser where Satan was player by a woman whose name escapes me. ( For some reason I keep thinking of Hugh grant...). Then there was also the movie that starred Johnny Depp. Was it called the Ninth Circle?(Christ I'm getting old.) Where we only find out who Satan is at the end. Again it's a woman. Great stuff all round sir. Looking forward to seeing all those Dark Corners in 2024... Oh. And love the t-shirt. Lol.

Great job on the review, Robin. I'm afraid to ask how painful this film was to get through initially. As for the best cinematic demon, I would have to give that to Tim Curry as Darkness in Ridley Scott's "Legend" (1985). Such a terrifying visual, without any help from CGI. Other fun favorites include Old Scratch from "Rock 'N Roll Nightmare" (1987), Lipstick Demon from "Insidious" (2010), and "Pumpkinhead" (1988).
