Just saying it here, I watch Drawtectives the same way I watch the shows I love the most - with snacks, on main screen, with my phone muted. No "glancing more". That thing is a full attention show, on second watch too.

Same, 100% same. I even stay up late to watch it premiere.
@theomegajuice86605 сағат бұрын
Same. And I suspect that "full attention" shows ennd up getting punished by KZbin's algorithm. I'll see a new episode come out and won't click it but will make a mental note to clear some time to watch it properly in the next day or so. KZbin doesn't want that, it wants you to click and watch everything immediately regardless of what headspace or situation you are in
@M.Datura44 минут бұрын
@@theomegajuice8660 Yeah. I know. I wish putting stuff immediately on the "watch later" had some effect. I do that with new vids from creators I watch when I do certain things, and it's really sad that the algorithm actually punishes creators for making content that makes people want to properly pay attention. I'm not gonna change what I do or how I function for the algorithm. I do try to make a note for when it happens and watch it that day or the next though for stuff like Drawtectives. Regularity is great.

Julia, repeating back what the person said in your own words or with your own story is called “active listening” and it’s good and healthy.
@M.Datura40 минут бұрын
Rephrasing it is also a very good method of actually processing what the person said - comparable to trying to retell new information to someone else without directly citing anything. It is also often really necessary to show that the intended meaning was actually conveyed when talking about highly complex things - like complex emotional experiences, that people might not have the "proper terms" for.

@haldalas18 сағат бұрын
Good news: if her parents have encouraged it so far, it’s likely she won’t lose it if they continue to do so! Kids often learn to adjust how they act in social situations like school so that they aren’t always expressing things how they would if they were being purely themselves, but giving them a place at home where it’s always safe and fun to do so helps them maintain their love for fun things. And, even if they lose it, it *can* come back. Sometimes it just takes the right environment or people.

@@elizabethpemberton8445 that's interesting. I'm German and my veins are great. Like, you can see the face of whoever has to draw my blood light up when they see my arm. They get so happy. It used to be incredibly hard to draw mine, but it turned out I was severely iron deficient. Now, even if I'm kinda dehydrated (which I usually am, courtesy of chronic fever) it's usually no problem. @M.Datura27 минут бұрын
Tbh that sounds amazing. It costs me so much effort to have that sort of focus. It would probably be much healthier for me, but damn. So "fun" fact but the Flesh Lip isn't intended to be sexual. It obviously has some of those themes like most monsters in the game but the main image being evoked is the verbal abuse Mary subjected James to while she was bedridden. Apparently it also involves bits from a picture that hangs in the room where Mary was staying
@M.Datura21 минут бұрын
They worked hard not to see the sexual implications when they were making that if so. I always perceived it as "that's what she was to him". I've never come across the part with her being shitty to him whilst sick. ive been enjoying the silent hill streams and it's gotten me really into the sh series, but i do get frustrated by them shutting down anyone else's interpretation of the game and its narrative. Like in Silent Hill, things are left purposely ambiguous so you can come to your own conclusions about them
@Mothmyth12 сағат бұрын
I mean, a lot of the things J+J talk about are like. Outright confirmed by the game and the creators. It’s probably the least “many interpretations exist” of all the SH games
@haldalas11 сағат бұрын
You definitely can, but that doesn’t mean there’s no “intended” meaning that the creators had in mind. It’s just different ways of “reading” it
@cawareyoudoin73797 сағат бұрын
Yeah. Like with Julia saying James is "revealed" to have cheated, which is just... Not something that happens in the game? It's implied he wanted to, maybe it was intended to read like he did, but just taking text as it is, it's not as clean-cut as she implied.
@milkymoonbeam3 сағат бұрын
@cawareyoudoin7379 I don't mind them saying that bc that is their interpretation and that's valid. More just when ppl make throwaway comments or when she was laughing at ppl talking about Maria as if she's her own person. Which, she is sentient while still being a reflection of Mary and an idealised version of her, but the sh 2 DLC does give insight into her own mind. And them laughing at ppl for not getting some of the themes straight away when some of them may never have seen or played silent hill before. Or they may just be joking around, which doesn't mean they don't understand what certain things represent. Like the lying figure having high heels
@milkymoonbeam3 сағат бұрын
@Mothmyth I mean about whether what happens in SH is real or not. Like them laughing at ppl for talking about Maria as if she's a real person. Which yeah, she was created from what James wished Mary would have been and created to punish him, but she can still be seen as real. Which is fine if J+J don't but I think they were quite rude about chat discussing Maria as if she's real. And some of chat may have never seen SH before and so hadn't yet caught on to what Maria represents, which is fine. Like they could have kindly explained to them instead of being like "she's obviously not real"

I'm not saying what he did was right, but I do think James deserves redemption.
@Nescio_Gravissime2 сағат бұрын
Man yea, it's been really bothering me how they keep talking about the 'themes' of James' story the way they do, like is he a shitty character? yes but he is not a shitty character in *those* ways, the creators shut down that fan theory years ago for just genuinely not being true and yet people still talk about it as if it's fact. It just feels so, so minimalising of the actual problems portrayed with his character and relationship (and to people that can relate to these things), the aspects about his wife with the struggles of becoming severely sick and losing your sense of self, getting scared and that turning into anger that gets taken out on those you love, not wanting to be left alone but being so scared and hurt you push them away. And with him the wanting so desperately to be there for the person you love when they're suffering but growing scared and tired and resentful from being abused by them when they aren't able to be themself, the guilt of not being able to be there for her the way he wanted and the guilt of growing resentful, the guilt of being scared even, the frustration with the doctors and nurses for not being able to help her, the alienation and resentment from both sides of the relationship. Was he also sexually frustrated? yea of course but he was not a sexually abusive partner or a cheater. This is a man completely and utterly consumed by guilt for so many reasons stemming from lots of complicated emotions and at his lowest point did something he cannot take back and it fucked him up so bad he disassociates and rewrote his memory of how she died and the town had to remind him so he can either try to come to terms with what he did and try to live better or get swallowed by the guilt and despair that she's gone and drowns himself. There is so much more depth than they make it sound

Creative butt soothing “When you read poems you’re not supposed to break at line breaks” *_NOT NECESSARILY_* (enraged poet noises) I’m not spacing the poems out like that for just because. It’s supposed to. Even if just the negative spaces they. ITS SUPPOSED TO JACOB

Damn I’m the only person alive who’s having a really easy time boycotting Disney I guess. This is obviously not Clara’s fault as she is a child Guys. Just pirate their stuff. Literally? Just pirate. Their stuff. The biggest jumpscare in the lion king was when nature said that it’s actually divinely correct to segregate neighborhoods and eat the working class. Yes I have been like this since I was a literal child. Sometimes we just get born all fucked up like this 🎉

Shoutout to the person playing Olaf who’s openly struggling with working for a corporation that openly and consistently endorses gen’ocide Not to be dramatic but America’s literally always going through something, can we focus on the fucking watermelon of it all or did we do a thing and now we’re done now. We’re not actually friends I just admire and respect y’all, if we were friends I could bring it up to your face offline. Like Trump can be all distracting or whatever but I’m not giving him that
