Bad Odyssey Planet Tech

Even though this bullshit narrative is already almost 2 years old by know, I still just can't get over how many people actually jumped on this claim back then. Those were some salty times for sure. Thankfully we got that behind us now, and I've really enjoyed the ride 😎

Hm, I felt like this type is actually somewhat common (altho they are also my favourite type of planet and atmosphere, it's rocky planet with Carbon Dioxide atmosphere). It's a random system next to the Great Annihilator (second biggest black hole in the galaxy except Sag. A). I actually got a first footfall there :D

There’s a lot of mountainous planets out there, I once found one with a red Argon atmosphere, and that was something special if I do say so…

lol not so long ago I found a terrain comparison between Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous. The video was clearly made to discredit Elite's terrain (even the music was shifting from epic when showing SC terrain to silence when showing Elite). But the worst part about it was that the Elite footage was Pre-Odyssey terrain, at night. People will shit on that game no matter what it's astounding.

Lol yea I saw that vid as well. But hey, that dude was clearly just going for controversy, and he found it lol. If we mean the same one (The one im thinking was shorts), I think it was actually Odyssey, but it was just the barest thing you could possibly find if you were trying lol. Oh well, these complainers don't actually even play Elite tho so I pretty much don't care, but yea, found it pretty funny too lol

@@cmdrHeliaxx it probably was another one then, I am certain the one I found was version 3.8 or lower, since there was not the shield percentage displayed on the HUD, among other details like the UI hues.

Thanks :) This was just a quick idea I had when I ran into this moon, and thought I could make a vid of it. Sadly I might have a bit of a pause/less uploads now for like a month or two, as exams at University are now coming so I don't have that much time to play Elite :(

having switched back & forth between Horizon & Odyssey, on the same planet, in the same location, I've never seen Horizons look as good as Odyssey. I'm not saying there aren't cases out there where we lost some fantastic scenery, but overall, Odyssey is 20X better. My problem isn't the game, it's my graphics card struggling to make the planetary surface load fast enough to keep up with my speed.

Yea there is this problem for sure. Even having set render distance slider on max, it still struggles a bit.

Maybe fly a little slower until you can afford a better GPU... 😉 I don't have these issues, as I am playing Odyssey on a laptop that shouldn't even be able to run the game... Finding Bacteroida can be a pain, but anything else is okay.

Odyssey has some great looking places and really makes the game stunning, I just wish the Thargoid content was done now and FDev could bring more QOL, and flesh out other parts of the game.

Update 15 actually bringed a lot of QOL as well. Fixed Broken CQC maps, added relatove mouse bind, made some nice changes to map and viewing carriers in there. I'm pretty happy with the stuff they're putting out now. What also surprised me is not a lot of stuff was Broken by update 15 which I really did expect lol

@@cmdrHeliaxx The game feels much better and for the first time since Odyssey launch, I can play with high/ultra settings again, which makes the planets look very nice on the eyes.
