Bad Stator And Regulator 06 Apr 2023

Had the OEM Stator fail in The Beast. I replaced it with a "Stator and Regulator Kit" I got off E-Bay. I then swapped out the OEM Regulator with the new. The new stator seems to be working as it should, but the new regulator is a POS.

YEAH BUDDY!! ... If you remember, a couple years ago when that secondary clutch bolt snapped, I was in a snowstorm ... YIKES!! I to hope everything is kosher now ... I hate taking off into the wild with a little nagging voice in the back of my head. Glad you enjoyed the video San Juan Guy ... And THANK YOU for watching too ... it's much appreciated!!

Nothing worse than getting stranded but so glad that company brought you a new battery! Now that’s service😊. Too bad the regulator was defective but sounds like all good now. Was that a “Ricky Stator?” Looks like lots of snow still in the mountains…more tracking to come Gunny? Thanks for sharing!

Nope, the stator that failed/died was the original OEM stator. I bought a Stator, Regulator & Gasket kit off E-Bay sold by "CALTRIC" from E-Bay. Now, so far, the stator has been working. But the regulator is a POS. LOTS of snow still in the mountains & we're suppose to get another foot tonight. There's going to snow up there until July 4th this year probably. I'll keep tracking as long as there's snow at the lower elevation. But once that's gone, I'll be done regardless of how much snow is on top. Yikes! Could have been a serious problem if your machine died up on the mountain in deep snow. Good thing you have a SPOT prescription. Thanx for sharing the reminder that we are only "as safe" as our technology "is good".

If the machine had died in deep snow, as long as I had a spare battery, I could of gotten back to "Hard Pack" ... BUT ... I would of required one of not two more batteries to get back to the truck. But you know, had I known it was the regulator and if ... JUST IF ... I had had a spare with me, I could swapped them out & been back in the powder in about 15 minutes. But hey ... who knew ... RIGHT?!?! Glad you enjoyed the video Q and THANKS for watching too!!

Wow, of all the luck. You go one step extra just to be sure and that piece turns out to be a dud. T’was great that someone was able to help out by getting a battery up to you. That was pretty decent of them. That powder looks awesome. How many miles have you got on that engine now? I suppose running at 40% reduction it might be hard to determine the true mileage.

I agree Maxter. It was SO nice of those guys to help me out. My one son-in-law could bought a battery to me, but I would have had to wait for about 6 hrs. As it was, I only had to wait about an hour while making all the phone calls and connections. I was so bummed I didn't get to enjoy the powder, but, that happens sometimes. I have 7,744 miles on my machine. I believe those are pretty true miles too because since I've had tracks on this machine I've also had the "Track Module" & that is supposed to correct your speedo & odometer while running tracks. When I check the mileage for a ride on the odometer to my GPS, they are almost identical. So, I feel the mileage is pretty true. Glad you enjoyed the video Maxter & THANKS for watching too!!

As soon as I read "off eBay", I got worried. Is the stator also aftermarket? I sure hope it holds up long term. Since you ride far enough from civilization, I wouldn't feel comfortable with an aftermarket stator. I'd go OEM. Happy riding nonetheless.

Well Jil Amine, I did hesitate buying the parts off E-bay AND, I should have not used the regulator that came in the kit, because it was much smaller than the OEM one. But I figured, it's supposed to be for my machine and maybe it's an updated version ... WRONG!! I'm in discussions with the company about the regulator, not sure they will do anything however. Yes, so far (Knock On Wood) the stator is producing power like it's supposed too. To tell you the truth, I was surprised the OEM stator went out. But these things do happen.
