That being said, when I borrowed the first book from the school library, the previous person to take it out was 10 years prior so it probably wouldn't sell well 😭 It would be an amazing mod concept though. the problem is that HoI4 is abstracted, Total War isnt (to the same degree). In total war, you are seeing individual soldiers shoot at other individual soldiers, and it has a formula based around formation fighting. In hoi, the battles are literally just a number on a green or red bubble. That abstraction means you can functionally make a game out of anything because the numbers could be anything from representing bacterial colonies expanding, to an entire star system.

@@xyre9262 I played the Empire of ants demo on steam and was a little bit underwhelmed. I love the idea and it looks nice, but the strategy aspect seemed a little bit flat. few unit variety, small updgrade trees and so on. I hope this was because it was an early demo version, but I would wait for the reviews before buying or check the demo for yourself. If you like the scenario, check out Empires of the Undergrowth, the "other" ant rts of this year. I finished it and hat a lot of fun. It's graphics are less flashy than Empire of Ants, but still solid and a surprisingly great story, voice acting and soundtrack.

If CA wanted to do something with toy soldiers instead of actual people the map would 100% be a store like IKEA. With the factions being what department of the store they are from but with Lego Movie translations for what the items are like "Kragle". I think it could be funny and the variation of actual toy soldiers could mean a lot of variety in the unit selection. But I don't think the Total War community would take too kindly to such an unhinged concept. I would get a kick out of it though.

An actual serious suggestion: Total War: Thirty Years War. The technology and warfare Level would be pretty much exactly the level of the Warhammer Empire of Man, minus magic and the more fancy engineering. The hardest starting position would be obvious. There might be a bit of an issue with lack of unit variety but Medieval 2 made that work too und a similar setting.

Basically early handgonnes were just becoming a thing, pike squares had forced the cavalry into adopting blunderbusses and pistols, the hats were incredibly goofy. It's what the Empire of Man from Warhammer Fantasy is based off of.

I really think a cool idea would be that the environment actually effects your battles. What I mean is lets say you have a lot of skaven corruption, then when fighting a battle in that area there is a change that some skaven can spawn and attack indiscriminately. Or if there is like crazy rain that a tornado might spawn. Just to make people on their toes regarding where they actually fight.

I know Legend complained about “Americanized” posts, but “Total War: USA” would totally work with the right timeline. You could cover the events of the Medieval 2 Americas campaign all the way up to the American Civil War (being optimistic on the politics with that last one). You could include some foreign wars as smaller unique campaigns, kind of like the campaigns in the Medieval 2 expansion. It’s odd that most of the 1700s-1800s era has been covered already in other games, but in geographically separate locations. I think it would make for great variety of campaigns, battle maps, units; it’s got everything you need for a Total War game. You have your “stick vs musket” early game, scaling all the way to field artillery and line infantry in the late game (this is also their chance to bring back good naval combat, the US engaged in a lot of naval warfare). Although CA might not make a game about the American Revolution, I can definitely see the appeal for the American audience at least.

Many different cultures, including Western colonial power. Multi religious and multi troop. Could rival rome total war in terms of diversity. First, let me say that the Asmongold room TW is one of the most ridiculous ideas I have ever seen, even though such things shouldn't surprise me anymore. Second, I find it absolutely hilarious that someone cleaning his house to be worthy of news spread worldwide. If someone told us that there would be news like this 5 years ago we would never believe it. With that being said, I think a TW game could work, not a mod, but a game. That idea of rats fighting cockroaches and spiders reminded me of a game I played in MS-DOS called Micromachines. It was a car race game, where the cars were Micromachines and the race setting was in a kitchen table, where the obstacles were bowls from breakfast, or silverware, there was also bathtub races with boats, etc. I could totally see an RTS in microscale, if anything it could bring situations unique to the setting, like Asmongold cleaning a place of his house, changing the world and battle map of that area. You cannot remove a mountain or change the course of a large river in Medieval Total War in a way that makes sense to the setting, unlike moving a box. I think the Asmongold Total War could totally happen, but not as a mod.

Maybe a good idea? Total War Alien Invasion: I think you could successfully have this anywhere in the medieval to modern timeframe. Especially with 40k in dev, you'd have a lot of assets available to you. I envision the game starting on earth with only factions on earth. Then, a random alien race invades (maybe use the ogre camps as a model, or the black arcs). At first, their numbers are small, but they continue to grow. Simultaneously, human numbers are much bigger but weaker and they have to work quickly through a tech tree that relies on alien tech to be more competitive. As time goes on, more alien races join the fray and compete with humans and other aliens for control over earth. You can also play as the invading alien race and flip the script.

Just imagine Grandfather Asmon, letting the horrendous rotflies free after years of incubation. The burning, alien sun that radiates light blinds the hoards of infected skaven as they scurry back to familiar darkness. I can see that there's very few factions, but I see it more as a survival Total War setting. Between the skaven, ambulls, rot flys, nurglings, and papa asmon himself, I could see it working! 7/10

On the dinosaur one: Remember that unit obsolescence is not unheard of in total war. The Rome games (I think the second does this too?) are the first examples that comes to mind as Rome goes through it's various military reforms. You could easily have extinction events that essentially reset armies (obviously unit recruitment would have to be different than usual so it might create a neat dynamic with that) and force you back to weaker units. The main problem is that dinosaurs didn't create armies.

Better than Total War Ocean would be Total War Kamehameha! The unification of Hawaii is a very Fall of the Samurai-like setting where gunpowder is slowly introduced until there are battles with spears and clubs coexisting with cannons and guns. Great options for naval battles too, they had cannon canoes. Could be a great mod or saga title.

I would actually be super down for Ocean: Total War set in WWII pacific theater. Would mostly be naval battles with carriers, cruisers, destroyers, etc. But could deploy ground troops for battles to take over land bases. Imagine battleship coastal bombardment as an army ability in manual resolve. Could have sites of famous battles like Leyte Gulf as battle maps. Plenty of depth for a WWII navy-centric tech tree. I think there's potential.

In all seriousness, a Total War Saga about Xenophon's Anabasis, Imjin War or Hussite War+Turkish Conquest in mid-15th century would be really interesting

This is on par with the Total War: Fire Emblem idea that was bouncing around in my head except even more redundant because Warcraft's ALSO a real-time strategy game whereas Fire Emblem is a turn-based tactical RPG.

Hear me out: total war: Disneyland Not Disneyland like the themepark, but a map made up of the culmination of different Disney movie settings. Creative liberties can be taken with some factions, but with something like Hercules or Mulan it would be easy. The main characters could be lords for their factions, and there’d be plenty of side characters that could act as heroes. Magic would be there for some factions, and some would not use it much.

Redwall would be allied factions of mice, rabbits, hares, badgers, otters, etc facing down invading hordes of rats, ferrets, reptiles etc… You would start with a weak Redwall abbey faction of mice and voles and have to confederate stronger hares (the long patrol) and, eventually, tanky badgers (salamandastron). It would so frickin work, TW already has almost everything you’d need apart from some new skins.

Finnish Korean Hyper war was basically a meme created from 4ch/5ch. For Korea, there was a highly notorious fake history that claims Korea was the center of the world, which was originally coined during 70~80s (which caught more attention around 90s and mid 2000 because of nationalistic education and propaganda within Korea although even then this history was considered hideously fake), and there was another meme regarding Finland, from an artist named Sigurd that supposedly claimed Finnish people were descendants of ancient Egypt. So 4ch made that into a more ridiculous meme about pre-historic ancient alien warfare involving dinosaurs.

Honestly the ocean idea gave me pause for thought. Total War Piracy: rather than large scale battles it's fleet battles/small scale battles between crews. Maybe 50 models total per side. You could have all kinds of factions like the royal navies, corsairs, historical factions. Hell even sea monsters if you wanted

7:50 Lol that not mold, its a combination of dust and lighting/shadows with a "popcorn" ceiling that popular here in the US. You can often see this roof in the background during his streams and it doesnt look like it does in that photo.
