Ah yes, roadworks with no work - the epitome of "not my job" syndrome - the company that put the cones and lights out isn't the same as the one digging up the road and the two companies don't talk to each other!

There's a man down by me who puts traffic cones in the space outside his house. He actually puts them on the road to stop anyone using the space which is about 15m long, the problem is people who live anywhere for any length of time take ownership of things like a piece of road or grassy area and think it's theirs. The only space on a road we're entitled to is one that comes with the house we own like my parking bay which came with the house and is on the deeds.

I can think of some valid reasons for putting cones out; I don't say anything to people doing it if they are expecting a delivery or there's a funeral going to take place. But to do it all the time is a different matter, unless... They are disabled.

I'm beginning to think that all the councils have bought so many sets of temporary traffic lights that they have no more room at the depot to store them all. The answer? Simple, just set them up on a road somewhere! Doesn't matter if there are any actual works going on or not...

@@adenwellsmith6908 Very sorry to hear that. The last time I rode on a cycle path by a footway I stopped very politely pointed out to the pedestrian that they were on my side of the line and asked them if I could pass them (walking) and was told by another pedestrian that it was a path even though there was a big bike pained on the asphalt under my feet. From that moment on I have never been on an urban shared bike/pedestrian pathway, I ride on the road.

@@michaelgurd7477 The Old Kent Road is running at 2 deaths a year. All cyclists winning Darwin Awards. At least 6 serious injuries. Life changing, including a neighbour put in a wheel chair. A kid got hit the other day, on the pavement, 4 months off school. It's out of control. The police won't act. But for that I'm going to get quite a few officers done under the complaints system 5 ordered people to break the law. They destroyed the body camera footage. The initial complaint rejected. I pushed it to MOPAC, and they ruled in my favour. It's now game on. The other is a Superintendent, With this, the MP has been involved, and he's lied to the MP and made promises not fulfilled. I have come across situations where the driver has removed the plates to make it hard for the police to identify the vehicle and delay them speaking to the owner, maybe because they had been drinking prior to the accident. Alternatively someone may have stolen the plates off the vehicle after the accident, probably to use when they commit a crime at some point in the future. Either way it is pretty ineffective because the police will access the vin number and get the same information as would have been found from the plate.

When I was working in the Philippines last year I saw lots of gangs repairing roads and they don't have any temporary lights, no high viz, no traffic management, in fact there's no anything. They turn up with their trucks and small motorbikes and start fixing the road, there's no hanging about or drinking coffee. Once they start work goes on until the patch of road is repaired, whether it's a good repair is anyone's guess but they do get on with it although I'd imagine there's a high injury rate given that the road users out there stop for nothing!!

The designated turn lanes are a slight 'favourite' of mine currently, at least one I regularly use, twice recently I have seen people use the full designated lane the wrong way, because there was one for their direction just past it. In one case (the second time I witnessed it occur), a van aggressively shot out to queue jump using the designated lane the wrong way at the same time myself and another car were just about to going into it to turn right into the road the van pulled out of - and the van driver clearly felt the need to loudly announce their own stupidity to a large number of people when, after both I and the other car hooted at them, they hooted back. As for roadworks - on the road I live on, just this year there was one fairly long running set of works (if 3 to 4 weeks can really be classed as long running!) for gas mains replacements (still occurring elsewhere around the village I live so it's pretty much roadwork central currently), and since then, it seems like there's been other roadworks popping up and clearing away again every other week or so. To the point that in the last week there's been 2 sets of works appear and then clear (albeit one was for a water leak of some sort pretty much next to where I live, and is the only one that HASN'T needed temporary lights) - and at the same time there's been another set of roadworks just around the corner too.

It's a serious problem in my neck of the woods (East London). One week the winter before last I reviewed all of my nighttime dashcam footage for that week and hit a figure of 50% of the bikes I saw on the roads at night not having lights and 50% that did. Recently I'd say it's getting worse but I don't have numbers to back that up, just a seat of the pants feel. I'm quite frankly amazed that it isn't causing more accidents.

uk it can be a simple £50-60 fine but it also could be classed as careless cycling that fine is up to £1500, or dangerous cycling up to £2500 but even the police don't care that the issue as cops could easy get there monthly wage in a few hours around any big city it about time they did there job. even using a phone while cycling can be classed as careless that £1500 up to. same goes for drink or drugs or both and if they hurt someone that could be dangerous cycling a cyclist blew through a light i heard in one news story knocked over someone that cyclist got £800 fine and prob a day out in court. these laws in highway code but police do not care they go after easy target even if car was in the right. seen one clip cyclist went through a red and car hit them the cop on corner sees everything but straight at shouting at the driver. insane but at least a police report you be able to get details to sue for damages but the police should went mad at the cyclist and waved car to pull over not shout and tell him to block a crossroads . about time the cops started to police cyclists , one reason i always run two cameras to cover self

Hi there. Can I offer an explanation for some of these "empty" roadworks? My son is a craft planner for an electric company, which means he plans the installation of new/repair jobs for said electrical provision. For any work to be done on the highways, they have to apply to the local councils for these road closures. Sometimes wires get crossed, sometimes the closures are done too soon, as sub contractors are used and they are given the optimum time to get their bit of the job done. Then the craftspeople come and do their bit and then the subcontractors return to make good the site. My son has requested, as a motorist, if the councils could give a date when all services could work to minimise disruption, but no can do. Not always down to the workers involved. Apart from that I agree with all you say. If you don't show displeasure at someone's inadequate driving, how are they going to know? Love the Channel, you are always guaranteed to raise a smile or my blood pressure 😂😂😂

Hello, I very much enjoy your channel, & I very much agree with every thing that you say. I am 80 years old & drive as well as cycle. I believe that most guys who cycle through red lights do it because stopping & starting when your on a bike uses up an awful lot of energy not like in a car. I don't excuse them in any way. But as a cyclist it is very annoying to have to keep stopping because the road layout favours cars over cyclists or pedestrians. I think the guys that don't stop at red lights are crazy & very dangerous & is something I don't do, ever. You mustn't forget that all the roads & junctions were very much designed for cars & not pedestrians & cyclists. They always come last in road design, & I'm afraid to say it but our selfish attitude to cars is definitely causing problems with our weather. I think until we start to plan our roads to be more pedestrian/ cycle friendly then not much is going to change. I for one don't want to give up my car but perhaps we could all give up our cars perhaps one day a week. It might just make it easy on the rest of us.

On the bike lane. There are no standards. Where is the 1.5 meters space from pedestrians. That means you need a minimum of 3.5 meters width. Look at 2:37 Look at the pedestrian crossing. Why start a cycle lane there of all places? Where people are waiting to cross? Then look at the street furniture. Rubbish bin makes it narrower. The infrastructure box makes it narrower. What is it? Cyclists want stationary targets toa hit?

Just kick them off the bike, I have. About 15 years ago I was crossing with my then 6 year old on a green man near London zoo, when 2 cyclists when straight through the crossing, swerving round all the people using the crossing. I instinctively put my foot out to protect my daughter, which just happened to make contact with this cyclist's rear wheel, and he fell off in front of about 20 people on the crossing. There was a big cheer as he hit the deck, but he never came over to find who pushed him off, but maybe he learned something that day.

Your average Audi doesn't do 0 to 60 in anything like 4.5, but an average family EV does it in 6 seconds without drama. Sure a high performance Audi can get to 60 in 4.5 seconds or less, especially the newer models. However comparing apples to apples, a performance EV is faster than a performance ICE, at least in acceleration.

5:34 You should have held back there to allow the RR to pass. The RR had the right of way being, as they were, on the correct side of the road. You didn't. Your moving into the RR's path and into oncoming traffic put the RR at risk of a head on collision. Your bad driving caused the RR to slow down and take evasive action. It is fortunate that the driver of the RR was paying attention.

What I can't see though is an active indicator on the front of that RR. Watched it on my 50" Panasonic 1080 smart TV too. No sign of it. But irrespective of the indicator when you pass the RR your car is more than half way over the centre of the road encroaching on the RR's road space so much so that the RR driver has to actually drive off the road in order to avoid you. Like I said. You should have yielded to the RR who had a clear path and the right of way.
