For me, cyclists jumping red lights happens because there is little or no enforcement by police. Not the Police's fault however because they can't be everywhere when it happens. It needs a whole change of law and the way it is enforced. Cycles need to be registered and display a registration plate at point of sale/purchase and fixed cameras at traffic lights. This would make tracing easier but it wouldn't be perfect as some riders would make and display false plates. Holland has them so why not the UK? I am not anti cyclist as I am a driver and a cyclist who fully supports safe driving and cycling.
@darrennoles90562 жыл бұрын
Fines would EASILY cover extra wageworkers to catch jumpers, if it were taken seriously. But not considering pedestrians, which statistically are at low risk from actual injuries from *head-on* collision with cyclists at pedestrian crossings anyway, cycling is arguably safer for the cyclist than pushing the bike as can accelerate fast, be more visible, see around more and jump on car or out of way more easily instead of be hit by car

That looks like a 60-70mph road and the traffic isn't that bad, there's no excuse for cars, especially the cammer to be in the lane they're in. Those studies may show the stopping distance but that's relative to the situation. No vehicle on the motorway is going to perform an emergency stop that is suicide. This video proves that slow drivers are more dangerous, their situational awareness is shocking and their selfishness on the overtaking lanes leads to the frustration of other drivers.
