John, I really appreciate all the content that you share. As a guy who is newer to boost I love having all the information that you share as it helps me with ideas and knowledge to use on my own set up. Even though we live far apart I hope to run into you at the track one day. Thanks again and good luck out there

If it were me, I would go ahead and pull the other one now, just to be safe and take it apart and clean/lube it up. As easy as you did the first one, it DEF wouldn't be that bad!

Sucks that a cheap part like a wastegate or solenoid can cost you so much money when they stick and blow your motor

Hey John, you make good vids, I learn a lot from your good work. I'm to old to drag race, I still have a KZ1000J2 Modified, from my younger years. I never been to the track. I be a street racer. I have not been on the bike in ten years. Not gonna get on it any time soon. I'm just gonna rebuild it and bring it to bike shows. Be safe John, and Godspeed!

HEY JOHN WHAT WASTEGATE ARE YOU USING NOW
@curlracing2765 жыл бұрын
Hey John if you have anymore wastegate issues I highly recommend the Tial ones. I just don't see as many issues with Tial like I do with all the other brands and is probably why they are also used in a lot of high performance oem applications too.

Are you running a T4 or T6 turbine housing what's the A/R on it I guess my question is how much A/R is needed for a given fuel for example M1 vs M5
@TurboJohnRacing5 жыл бұрын
It’s s t6, 1.39 housing. There is more volume with alcohol, so a little larger housing is needed. I’ve never ran m5 but I would say it would use the same housing as m1

Hey bud if I'm not mistaken there's a few different ways to avoid boost Spike by use an adjustable blow off valve as a purge valve or a eBay 40mm wastegate on the charge pipe🤓👍

I think I’ve got it fixed. I hope so anyway.

Of course it’s a starter spring. Damn right we’re gonna take it apart, find the problem and reengineer it to fit our needs. Then we’re gonna put it all back together, take our junk back to the finals and probably win this time. Why? Because that’s what happens when you have more brains than money!! Dooley noted!! GOOD LUCK to you sir!!

@JRkota3185 жыл бұрын
You should definitely take the other one apart and install the screw from the top. I'm not a turbo guy but that just looks like a bad design from their part. I would definitely do that mod to all waste gates that you get from now on.

Car is on methanol, so it only water in the heads. Fan and vacuum in between rounds cools it down.

I Have a couple questions ... I’m kinda new to this but what lube did you put on the back of the diaphragm and is it really necessary to apply it? Other one is ... does a bad wastegate sound like a lawnmower when u get up to boost?

You don’t recon there was a small piece of aluminum trapped somewhere where the engine blew up b4 and got hung in that seat? You really haven’t heated up the engine like that until you made a pass other night. I’ve seen stranger things happen lol Question, do you have any problems spooling that big turbo up? Every time I mention getting one that big instead of two everybody starts bitching and complaining telling me I won’t be able to spool it. It would be on my 9.5 deck 438 if I don’t upgrade to the new 460ci SBF. I’d love to know how you spec out your turbo for your build, I’m kinda new to the pushrod turbo stuff, the wife’s Coyote has to 68-70 twins on it but I didn’t spec them out but I installed them and do all the tuning. I guess it would be about the same huh?
@TurboJohnRacing5 жыл бұрын
I didn’t see any debris when I pulled the gate apart, hopefully it’s good now. It usually spoils pretty good, no issues. But something has happened to the fueling map at low rpm. I’m trying to slowly lean it out, it’s way rich when I first stab the gas right now.
@jamiemuncy22195 жыл бұрын

@TurboJohnRacing4 жыл бұрын
A little boost creep (1-2psi) in not a big issue in my opinion. But if it never levels out, then there is a problem with flow (sizing) or wastegate placement

I wish you had the money to buy this C6 Vette from Mike @ StreetSpeed717 cuz he just gets a bunch of sponsors to build him a low 8 high 7 second car for next to nothing and does a bunch of stupid stuff with his cars for a while to make content for KZbin then sells the car for what it would really cost to build the car a makes a huge profit from it and he has a bunch of subscribers and views and all of his videos are stupid if you ask me I would much rather watch your channel John Doc's channel and Cleetus Mcfarland's channel cuz for one you guys build and work on your own cars and don't sell them faster than McDonald's sell fries lol and that's pretty damn fast if you ask me and I love the set up you got going on old school Gen 1 SBC "LS DADDY" to the front good luck to you on Thursday night if I was closer to Galot I would come out and hang out and watch you guys get down out there but hopefully one day soon you can get your car to the level of all them other undercover pro mods you're running up against with a carbon fiber front clip and doors and deck lid and optic armor windows or lexan windows and if it can come over the winter to where you can put that thing on a diet would be awesome atleast get it down to 2800lbs without you in it and I saw a website the other day if I come across it again I'll shoot it over to you if you want it but they sell Billet Aluminum blocks including SBC and they say that their SBC's can get up to 560cid and with a Billet block with aluminum heads rods and intake that 560cid SBC ought to be pretty light but with that many cubic inches to play with out of a fast and high revving small block with that ball bearing Jose 102mm CHOO CHOO BOI going low 4s high 3s shouldn't be a problem hell Big Chief and Murder Nova Shawn only go low 4s with them big cubic inch small blocks they got with 2 Pro Mod 88's on there but they are on big tires if they set it up to run radials I think they could get their cars to go just a little faster but anyways this is long enough Go Fast and Get Some Win Lights whether the clocks are on or not lol can't wait to see what you have in store for John Doc and did you see what he did in Maryland with Brown Sugar? LMAO now it's Broken Booger 😆
