Channel obviously deserves to be bigger. I think the problem is that he proves all these little rice burners or want to be enthusiasts to be wrong. For example there's no such thing as a boost cam or turbo cam. And God forbid he says a bigger turbo isn't better

Richard talking so much sense as per normal. I have a street car 5.3 ls. Its a daily and i catch a ton of flack for my tyrbo choice from the ls community. Its a single s366. And it lights like a candle and makes an easy 5-600whp. Thats all im looking for in this car so why would i size a larger turbo? Im making positive pressure by 2500rpm and am walking away from all kinds of street cars before the even realise it. 800, 900, 1000hp is fun. Dont get me wrong. But a torquey street car with good turbo response is a blast too drive around in.

Easy thing I was taught: 2 high 1 low value of: Compression Amount, Turbo Size, and Engine size. Another thing to note about turbo sizing is that, big turbos can help with fuel economy by keeping an engine off boost at cruising RPMs, and help to control EGTs and engine tempratures. With the awesome housings and wheels these days, and even VGT or twin scroll setups, its great how tailored the geometry can be for your flows and pressure ratios.

Thank you. This was great to see. I was worried that I would always have oversized turbo problems, because I am interested in turbocharging small single and parallel twin motorcycle engines, that are around 200cc. If the smallest turbo I can find is still useless at half or even 2/3rds rpm, then I accept that, for either low rpm economy, or, I will just use electric motors to handle low rpms and launching out of a corner or dig, and have the turbo handle sustained high RPM power, that EVs struggle with. Parallel or Series Hybrid, I'll accept this.

I run a 46mm Garrett gen 2 on a 2.4l with no variable timing cam and a 6500 rpm redline. Def on the small side but spools damn near instantly. Stock cams and my powerband falls off after 6k pretty drastically. But it’s a primarily street car and still very fun, not often I take it past 6 unless I’m racing

Richard, this test is between the biggest possible for street application and a ridiculous sized turbo for both engines. In a much more credible comparison would had been between a T3/T04E for the K24 and a some kind of GT28xx (a 2867?) for the B16. Also, since it's a turbo test, you should give more details like turbine housing a/r size etc.

yes-take a look at the video where I ran a GT45 turbo on a 454 BBC-very high back pressure. As to running too big of a turbo, if you keep increasing the size, you get more and more lag until the motor can't spool the turbo
