fishing the last 2 hours of run in tide off the beach catching whiting and tarwhine using live yabbies for bait
ROD - shimano power surf 1202L 4-7kg
REEL - alvey 500b
LINE - 9lb schneider klear line
HOOK - size 4 longshank baitholder hooks
SINKER - size 2 star sinker
BAIT - live yabbies

It's the finer points which make a difference, Ricky - pulling the yabby tail up above the eye of the hook so it doesn't slide down, adjusting your trace - a longer trace which hangs back and wafts around below the sinker creating a more natural presentation, knowing where to cast and working with the side sweep instead of against it, all equates to a successful outing while others go home scratching their heads, blaming the poor weather for their poor results. In 2017, you made me re-think how I fish and my consistent results off the rocks now speak for themselves. Thanks again, Ricky!!

Good tip about walking along the beach as the current pushes it sideways ,,,, it takes me an hour to get to a beach ,, many times I’ve left within 30mins because of beach problems , especially that ocean weed that gets wrapped in your line and it’s extremely hard to tear apart to untangle,,,,, love the horizon sky footage ,, that’s just as good as the fishing action

Thanks mate yeah beach fishing can be hit and miss sometimes the sweep can be bad along with the weed i try not to fish the beach in big swell i like the swell around 1m to 1.5m but 1.2 m is ideal cheers 👍

Yeah some nice Tings there mate and none too shabby Tarwhine. I’m up the far Nth coast, beach fishing, or any other for the matter has been blown out (30kts + SSE) since Tuesday. Unless you find a very sheltered south spot, your only drama then is putting up with a very very wet a… ☔️

Nice one mate, good tip on the rig, I might try it out. I usually use a running ball sinker with 1 hook, it's a hit and miss at times. Were you casting into the middle of the gutter or on the edge of a sand bar?

How do you manage to keep your yabbies alive? Mine only last 1/2 a day . I change water regularly but never last till the next morning to try ‘em again

I go change the water just before dark then use a aerater over night keep the oxygen in the water 👍
