The death of Khalid ibn Al-Waleed A few days before his death, an old friend came to see Khalid at his bedside. Khalid: “Do you see a space larger than the span of a hand on my leg which is not covered by some scar from a sword, arrow, or lance?” The friend examined Khalid’s leg and confessed that he did not. Khalid raised his right arm and then his left, for a similar examination and with similar results. Next he exposed his great chest, and here again the friend was met with a similar sight. Khalid: “Do you not see? I have sought martyrdom in a hundred battles. Why could I not have died in battle?” Friend: “You must understand, O Khalid, that when the Messenger of Allah named you Sword of Allah, he predetermined that you will never fall in battle. For that would mean that Allah’s sword had been broken; and that could never be.” Khalid: “I die even as a camel dies. I die in bed, in shame. May the eyes of cowards never rest even in sleep.” -Ibn Qutaibah: pg. 267, Khalid ibn Al-Waleed: pg. 442

It is also narrated that prophet S.A.W said, " The best of this ummah after its prophet S.A.W are Abu Bakr and Umar Radiyallahu 'Anhumaa." And there is a hadith where Abu Bakr R.A asked Prophet S.A.W about the doors of heaven. And the Prophet S.A.W replied, there are hundred doors. There is door of solat, jihad, fasting, To which Abu Bakr R.A said, " He who is called from all gates will need nothing." And added, " Will anyone be called from all those gates?". And the Prophet S.A.W replied, "Yes, and I hope you will be among those, O Abu Bakr." Bukhari, 3666

Khalid is nowhere near the top. Even Heraclius is better considering the circumstances they were in, Heraclius just lived long enough for his reputation to falter. Khalid Ibn Al Walid isn’t even a top 10, he literally just got lucky as fuck with the timing of his rise to power like countless others, and all his “genius” plans were copies of millennia old Greek strategies. Clear bests are 1. Alexander, no comparison 2. Napoleon, nobody’s done what he did in the modern era 3. Baybars, only one to defeat the mongols decisively 4. Either Hulegu or Mongke Khan 5. So did Heraclius during his entire campaign to retake the Byzantine East from Shahrbaraz and Khosrow II. So did literally countless other commanders. It was the start of the Muslim golden age where knowledge from Europe and Asia flooded Arabia in which we have modern day STEM and Medicine today cause of it. It was also the very beginning of religious tolerance, as all religions had safe haven and harbor sanctuaries for all religions in the Muslim dominion. A very bloodless transition of power. No. He saved the Quraish from a total defeat and the battle resulted into a stalemate. Technically, the Quraish were defeated because they turned back without achieving their goal of conquering Medina. Khalid took advantage of the impulsiveness of rear guard soldiers who were warned to always stand guard at their defensive positions no matter what happened at the battlefield, but who disobeyed when they thought the Quraish were in retreat and rushed out to partake in the final onslaught. Khalid, the brilliant hawk that he was, saw that opening and with a few horsemen did a wide arc manoeuvre to approach the Muslim army from behind and stagnated their almost certain victory

The sword sent by Allah to earth is a false rumor. However, the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him named him the sword of God. And therefore he never lost a battle. And even though khaled lived his entire life fighting. He died a normal death on his death bed. But, given that he was nicknamed the Sword of God . God never allowed his sword to fall in war.

It may be disrespectful in your culture but this is KZbin and there are many cultures here, I understand that it may be taken as a sign of disrespect in your own, truly I do. But in American, united kingdom, and some others vocabulary it is showing that this man is a legend, badass meaning this individual was devastating on the battle field and his shear intellect was astounding for his time. Don't take the word "badass" as disrespectful as it is our way of defining this man as revered and unmatched for his time. I'll be polite and use "the sword of Allah" as a definition, but if you demand respect from other cultures it goes both ways. Understand other cultures and don't take simple vocabulary to heart, he meant it in the best of ways, praise be.

“It goes both ways” I agree. Islam (and Mohamed PBUH) said don’t make fun of or disrespect other cultures/societies and other religions.
