It amazes me, everyone wants to be a critic. They can do it this way, or I would have done it that way. You came here to watch the video. I know, here's a clue. What's the title of today's video ? Chad already stated, it was a favor to a friend. He's spending no money, just time. And using scraps of metal in the shop. Doesn't need to be perfect, just repaired. I got all that, just from listening to what he said.

Thanks for the video. I am a newbie with zero welding skills. I can't afford going to a body repair shop so I am learning on my own. My truck needs this done and I am confident now that I will be able to get it done. Awesome camera work also! I know it's a quick patch job for passing inspection but you really helped me build my confidence to do it myself. Thanks for your knowledge sharing and I did learn!!! God bless you both.

This is the VERY REASON that I like to watch Chad ! Showing someone how to fix something without BREAKING THE BANK $$$. This is how someone can learn, apply and enjoy fixing their own projects without feeling like they have to have a very elaborate shop with super expensive tools (that most people will never afford to have). Great job! Great content ! Keep it up Chad. This is what I call “Makin Due- with that you’ve Got”. Take chicken 💩 and make chicken salad. 👍🏽😎

Hi bud, just watching your vid patching can corners. Wow man I'm 75 yrs old now, I loved in swanton, Vt in the early 70s thru the ninties,it's the last stop before you cross into canada. It would snow ads deep to a giraffe every winter, and I worked in Essex Junction By 41 miles south. I had to have a pickup truck cause I loved deep in the country outside Swanton. I loved living there, the schools were excellent too. I always bought Ford - F 250 4 by . I needed a Fisher power angle plow, just to get to the interstate. So that's why I bought Ford's as I kept my plow and it would fit in a new pickup easily. They used so much salt on all the roads up there, if have to do what you're doing quite often, can corners, door bottoms, wheel lips, can floors. I made all my own stuff cause I had a family to take care of. I did all my repairs with basic tools welder not wrench hammers visegrips. I'd do all my body work between April and september, then I'd primer several coates, then undercoat when done. I couldn't see buying a new truck every three years, so I extended the life of my truck by years.I would paint it when it was done, and it looked fine and lasted long time. I'm Vt, every vehicle rusted caddies, lincolns, mercedes, and the map cars and small trucks would rust down so bad I called them Flintstone mobiles. Have a great evening, keep up the vids, I enjoy them!!!!

With little round corners like that I usually bend a piece if thin wall pipe the same size as the curve and weld it in. I learned that trick from George Barris, rather than trying to make a complicated curve it's easier to weld 2 flat pieces to the bent pipe.

I watched your video because I have the cursed rusty corners on my 150. I know very little about body repairs. I do know a little about blacksmithing and its traditions. I don’t know if what you did is right or not but I see in your skill set some of those traditional intuitive skills of working with metal that you can’t learn except by rolling up your sleeves. I really enjoyed watching you work to complete the corners. Shame ford created this mess in the first place. Good luck and keep up the good work.

This is a tough fix for most people to do but you did it right. I really don't understand why modern trucks are still built to where water and mud can get trapped in these same spots and rust out. You don't see many modern cars that have this issue but I see it on late-model trucks all of the time. Same thing goes for truck frames no excuse they can and should be built more rust-resistant, especially considering the cost of trucks today.

One thing at this point that I could add is that the statement that was made at the start was lost or misunderstood "This video will show how to simplify rust repair without spending any money on replacement panels. Repairing rusted cab corners on Ford F150 in real time with basic tools and scrap metal. This will be a quick and easy fix to pass inspection". Also, Chad don't let others get into your head it will eat you up it use to bother me when I was young but now that I'm 70+ not so. Yes, as others put it you have your way and they have theirs I respect yours in this post because you placed yours out there for all to see. Keep it real, nice camera work Jolene and Good girl FINA. 😁

Hi, Chad do what you can with the budget you have . In my 20s had a 65 impala for a winter car because I did not want to drive my 68 charger in the winter. The bottoms of the doors were rotted, Took the metal from an a62 dodge coronet and pop rivet them on. Repainted it at a friend s house who painted cars at a local body shop, We painted it red-orange with white lace 2 stripes on the hood and trunk' Had a black vinyl roof, We did proper bodywork before painting.

Not to bad for an hour. I like how every time he hit the new metal more rust fell out. The old cab corner was on the floor at the end. I own a 2014 f150 after seeing this I'm thinking of buying inner and out rockers , and corners for both sides now before I actually need them. I'm not as good as he is to make my own panels. It will be easier for me in the long run. I wish I had my own "Chad" I could take my truck. Good job Chad and Jolene.

@@FnaAuto check out Project Farm on his rust undercoat. POR 15 is the best although it is also the most expensive. For those whop can not afford that he offers cheaper solutions. It is amazing how people allow this rust damage to happen. I have read that Ziebart is actually worse than nothing but there are penetrating oils now used that actually work to prevent corrosion. I have a 2006 F-150 that looks new underneath and on the exterior because I live in Texas and the vehicle has never seen salt. The only thing I did for it was use a mixture of MEK and 60 weight motor oil spraying it in all cavities, underneath the vehicle, under the hood, in the doors, and inside all fenders. This was just to make sure that the pristine structure was protected from all the rain we get in SE Texas.

Replacing cab corner with pre-fabricated piece, scary/intimidating, yes! Replacing cab corner with flat sheet of metal that you form/mold to replicate rusted piece, scary/intimidating X 100, LOL. You guys always make this stuff look so easy!

That is the stuff I want to see. Let's face it, we're all going to have to deal with a rust repair eventually and you may as well learn how to do it yourself. 😁👍

@@tylervanbiezen804 I would have liked to see him clean the rust out of the inside and spray it with rustoleum and maybe it would last longer.

@@benhendricks9728 not if you buy the weld through primer or if you clean the area that is being welded. It's done that way all the time and if it's enclosed properly no moisture will be getting back in.

@@david888a fix it right the first time, then you don’t have to fix it again next time inspection comes around because that’s what’s going to happen it’s just gonna rot right back off

Anyone saying it's cheaper to buy the replacement panels go look at how much they cost plus say if you don't need the whole rocker and maybe just cut a square out and then just bend it you'll probably spend 20$ at the depot for a tiny peice of 18 gauge, I've been doing what Chad does to my trucks even before I knew about him and he's really good at it, he makes it look easy, it's not at all.. first there's warping if you get to hot, then if you don't get the metal flush good luck blending it in, and not to mention he thin metal on the truck you'll be burning holes through constantly
