I have a 2006 SS/SC. Drove it from 2006 until last month. It was my daily driver for 18 years. Put over 200k on it. All I used was synthetic oil and did basic maintenance. Only reason it is in storage now is because the teflon finally wore off the supercharger blades and it barely makes boost. I definitely got my moneys worth and as far as reliability goes, this thing will last a long time with little issues.

I had a Fram filter (i paid extra for) in 1971. It was a easy removed (two thumb screws) metal canister mounted waist high on the firewall ,in which you put a roll of toilet paper. It was the best filter, no kidding. This is from a guy who did 45 yrs in the automotive service field. I remember that trick filter with fondness.

You should look at the many oil filter videos... I use Wix but on my 7.3 I use Motorcraft FL-1995 Rotella T6 you'd better get to work man

Watch a few oil filter videos cutting them open, you will never use a fram oil filter again. I used them for years and nearly pissed myself when I seen them cut open.

@@chuckmiller5763 I've seen those videos. There's nothing wrong with Fram filters, especially the Fram Ultra Synthetic filter, which is what I use but I change it every 10K and change my oil every 5K.

Well I never!…….Didn’t know you were a Canuck! But when I listen well, I can hear that Bluenoser accent. 😂 Got an aunt living in Halifax, been there for close to 60 years. I’ve been many times to Nova Scotia and early in my work life I tried VERY HARD to find work down there, I would have left Quebec decades ago. Alas, it’s still a bucket list item to get the wife and myself to make a pilgrimage trip to see Peggy’s Cove and sit on the big rocks, followed by a nice hot bowl of Chowder at the Cove restaurant. No it does not. Whatever gave you that idea? All horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter will have downward air flow direction. Otherwise if the air was moving upward the dirt and debris would be trapped inside the blower motor below the filter. Duh!

32,000kms and 32,000miles are 2 different distances. The most oil will last now a days is 12,000 kms before the additive packages are worn out.

Jump onto zzp and grab a full exhaust and cold air intake a set of lower control arms and sway bar links and that car will sound and feel like new...good little car.

My Jeep Cherokee 2014 has same filter, but easier to change out, V6 with 135,000 + miles, wonder if you could get a long extension with a socket to get your filter cap off? That's a keeper car, not made anymore.

Should do an episode on rust prevention. I'm not a fan of these cars but it is in very good condition and would be nice to preserve it. Remember when Chevys had a toilet paper roll for an oil filter? It's well before my time.

I was always told that red on any car was trouble ! They were just too fast for you ! So my first car was a 1969 camaro it was like something 🤔 else ! Dad seen it and he said well it's not red how fast could it be ? Oh well he sat inside it only once ! He rather got biblical on me after that ! Chad you got any experiences to share ? How about Jolene? She just looks like a hot rodder ! Thumbs-up on the cobalt ss and it's red too mmmm makes things interesting 🤔 ! Now there's just to many cops today and red like a magnet to them . If you use rotella t6, it’ll last 25k miles, as long as you change the filter every 6k miles.

It's sad to see because our local Lordstown Assembly in Ohio, United States used to build the Cobalt. They started building the 64 Chevy Impala. G.M. stopped making cars in Lordstown 2019.

filters are by far your most critical maintenance items for engine longevity along with fresh GOOD oils and fluids.. when oil gets old we know what happens but what happens when your filter gets old of cloggy, welp, your engine cannot aspirate aswell or efficiently as its used to so it tries to make it up elsewhere and that's where others things begin to fail and breakdown as it tries to suck that air from somewhere, blow bye begins to appear and then rings begin to fail.. really is important

@@speedfreak8200 I think he meant if the cheap oil filter started to fall apart but that Fram Ultra Synthetic oil filter is not going to have that problem. It's rated for 20,000 miles or 32,000 km. I use those myself but only for 10,000 miles.
