Alex B I’d advise checking out the hundreds of other testimonies in the groups and other reviewers thoughts before you rule it out completely. Bobby seems to have a bone to pick with any character representation he already has and is “fine” with. Almost as if he wants to talk himself out of it by exacerbating minor nuances and completely ignore the great things about this figure. Could he be spread too thin down all those rabbit holes?? It’s really a great figure and I’ve yet to see anyone who actually bought it be disappointed. He’s banged his head too many times trust me.

Gotta be careful tho, couldn't wait for maketoys meteor and that thing is NOT on display cuz it didn't live up to MY expectations. Bobby's being funny, his opinion on this bot is "meh". I actually got them after initially considering it a pass. The representations are just better asthetically with the newer MP's that old MP-12 or his MP-12 partner. That being said it is badcube, and the first couple of times transforming them are fiddly.... but even then after a couple of times I have gotten it down well and transformation is much easier...... which isn't what normally happens with badcube figures (I'm looking at you, Lorry).

Jeez, when they said show me on the table where the transformation hurt you, did you dent your noggin? I hope not. The IHOP-IHOB reference was hilarious, and all the orange references, hahahaha. I still am thinking of getting this guy, maybe. I am undecided. I only have 6 more bots to go to finish my season 1 Autobots, so Red Alert is not as high on the priority pickups, so I will be patient for now. Solid review and hilarious skits, Bobby!

Red Alert led us to the Kalos region on purpose. He wanted us to get lost so we can’t rescue him before he makes his condition worse. Mirage: Rats. .......sticking with Takara's MP+ for both. BC looks better in a static pose, but not so much that I think it's the definitive be-all-Red Alert-all. Thanks, Bobby Concussionface!

Haha I used to slam my head in my desk when I was frustrated or angry (mostly because of work). I stopped doing so because I noticed I scared people around me . Lol. At least now I know it isn't only me. Thanks for the review sir. :-)

That whole homage to the G1 toys with those circle things was an interesting choice. I don't recall if it is on the character model, but yeah...it's there...but it's not hateful.

if it wasn't for Badcube's love of building in a Rube Goldberg machine into nearly every figure, I would get this Red Alert for my MP collection (I have a KO RA in that spot) but with that upper body just exploding into a shower of 'WTF where does THAT go??' bits I'll wait till a good ebay coupon code or clearance. I will say the fit and finish on Red Alert is a lot better than Sideswipe. This is a LOT closer to being a real MP shelf sitter than Swipe.

I like the look of their figures, I especially want their Wardog. However, I would really want 2 so I can keep one in tank mode and one in robot mode. I'll just hide one at a time in shame so noone finds out.

The first time I transformed him, it was a nightmare. I was confused by the instructions asking me to move parts but that they don't tab in 'til later. That being said, I did, somewhat masochistically, enjoy the challenge - particularly as mine came in the mail before a lot of the reviews went up so I was going in knowing nothing - gave me nostalgia for being a kid on that stressful first transformation when you don't quite yet know how things move... :-) Going back into car mode was even trickier. Second time around, though, I felt like "i got this" - I now knew which things locked in and which didn't, I'd found the alignment tabs for his arms in car mode and, most importantly, I'd figured that it was the two extreme positions of his secondary shoulder joint for each mode (something which helps the transformation to be more intuitive). I really don't think there's all that much to criticise in the transformation - I think badcube's reputation has gone before them a bit. I was, though, surprised, getting him in-hand, how many things were not as I expected. In pictures, I didn't like the proportions in the hips and thought the cartoon style vehicle mode lacked detail and interest - in-hand, I like both of these aspects. On the other hand, after Huff, I was expecting an absolute home-run but he is much fiddlier and lighter than one would expect, in comparison. I certainly agree that it hasn't managed to blow the takara version away but I do think it is a clear winner on vehicle mode, less use of faux parts and 'toon accuracy and, in the UK, at least, it is very competitively priced. My conclusion would be that, provided you know what you're getting into, there's no reason not to get him - personally, I didn't have a Red Alert and my aim of avoiding repaints made him a clear purchase; people thinking about upgrading will know how much they're prepared to pay and will be able to judge whether he is sufficiently more-what-they-want. He's definitely good but maybe not for everyone. I'd also conclude with a 'well done' for badcube - I think it was a brave decision and it seems to be selling out most places I look to buy from - I think the 'do-over' 3PMPs are to be encouraged.

I had pretty much the same experience. First transformation was a fiddly nightmare.... but then subsequent it became smooth. My previous Badcube figure (Lorry) is still a fiddly mess after multiple tries.

I get the impression Badcube are not only trying to match the current Takara aesthetic, but also their rule book; such as softer materials, plastic wheels to avoid deterioration & even ugly, kibbly messes from certain angles (see Megatron's neck/shoulder area). Won't be surprised if the new Prime has the same shoulders. Personally, i'm cool with it

Transformation looks overly complicated. I don't wanna have to set an hour aside of my day to convert my figure. Agree that it looks good in some places and not so much in others. I always enjoy your reviews. You have high standards but you're fair. Great review.

It seems overly complicated on the first go around. The curve is not steep though as it gets really easy once you have ht hang of it. I bought both, and the first transformation took me 30 minutes, subsequent transformations is 4-5 minutes once you know what you're doing. There are a lot of moving parts, but you can get the hang of it all pretty quickly.

I love your reviews but I have to disagree with this one. It's not as bad as you made it out to be, and he can stand just fine. I don't know if you let your past impressions of BC influence you in this review, but I think you should've spent a bit more time with it before reviewing it. I was a bit on the fence with this one myself, but after handling mine for a few days, it really grew on me. And I'm OCD about a lot of things. I feel this review gives viewers the wrong impression that this s just a cluster muck figure, which it isn't. All that aside, you still rock and that will never change. Take care man. :)

You know the transformation is trash when they tell you to connect the two side pieces. NEVER CONNECT THE TWO SIDE-PIECES. It’s like crossing the streams; just don’t do it. You’ll be banging your head against a table for eternity.

Getting it to stand really isn’t that hard, you’ve just got to make sure the white bits in the heel are in the right place. It can be frustrating when you forget and he falls over, but it’s not a big deal. What is a big deal is getting the car mode right. I haven’t yet managed to get the front end transformed so that the wheels have clearance. The middle chest panel seems to force the arm panels outwards so they don’t lie flat on the bottom of the car. Any idea what I’m doing wrong there?

Red Alert is my fav character. I skipped the MP version because of the fake tyre-shoulders, and have been looking forward to this one. But ugghh I stopped watching after Bobby shows the knee joints. I HATE those Bad Cube knee joints. They should have put kind of a stopper to prevent the lower legs from moving to far forward. I have Bad Cube Hoist which also have this same stupid knee joint. They really suck because its not ratcheted, over time the swivel will get loose and posing the figure is very annoying. Guess I'll wait for other companies for their Red Alert

Are you going to post a video of you repeatedly banging your head against hard objects now? lolz. I guess if you are looking for more toon accurate figures...this is a way to go? With the FansToys Stunticons being released and being bigger than the Autobot cars, I might be game for these 2 figures if they were upscaled to match those figures? I nevered noticed the subtle differences between the animation alt mode and the real alt mode for Red Alert. I'm happy with my Takara versions, especially since this one cost more than it. I just wonder though if Takara is going to start redoing Seekers, Autobot cars now that it seems they are going down the toon accurate track? Still don't have a proper scaled MP Grimlock yet from them.........oh well.

I did get MP 14 and that bot is still more entertaining to transform than this mess. And barely beating the official with just a few steps and fail on so many others, i think ill keep my cash thank you. Ever wondered Swordstone of the KO of mp14, similar quality but lower price?

Thought about it many times Can't bring myself to buy a KO for my G1 MP Shelf. 3rd Party and Official only. Everything else is fair game. I love 4th party improved molds with superior paint apps.
