1:00 Guilford and Pan-Am boxcars. They're basically the same railroad, just Guilford bought the branding of the defunct airline 1:20 nice DRGW hopper owned by the KYLE railroad 1:32 4 K&O units on one train 2:50 DODX 800 is probably the only one of its kind. 5:58 nice catch of that CSX SD70MAC. Those can be quite hard to find 7:33 wow, an ex-WC switcher with a CN one 8:37 a geep with a damaged front on the rear of a mixed freight 11:45 wow, Hudson Bay Railway and CCGX units trailing on CN 12:54 Heart Of Georgia geep, Saratoga and North Creek passenger, and NWR 1 13:46 lindeside hedge trimming on the Strasburg 14:18 H2, H1, H3 SD40-2, and four H2 dash 9s sold to GECX 14:36 that Montral, Maine, and Atlantic has quite a fresh paint job but has already been vandalized 16:22 a CSX SD40-2 and uP Salt Lake Olympic SD70M doublheading

Eh. Counting regionals and Short lines, they are still a couple hundred companies still operating in the US. But 1 train a week on a line isn't very conducive to a railcam.

If you watch the Strasburg and Paradise cameras in the mornings before the steam trains start, you'll see a typical short line freight operation. One switcher takes a few freight cars to and from the interchange siding most days.

Most of my 30+ year railroad career was in various locations on former CB&Q territory where locomotives and cabooses were called “motors and waycars.” That big blue caboose would be referred to as a WAYwaycar!

BNSF - interesting to see that at 14:14 the BNSF train includes former BNSF -9s that were sold to GECX, being used by BNSF! Many of the GECX Dash 9s were being used by KCS last year.

When I was in High School, my parents would go to the rails and protest the, "White Trains." Apparently these trains were protested enough that the DOD quit using the rails to move nuclear weapons (and maybe waste?) and went with over the road semi trucks, out of the public eye. (They thought I was a bit too young to be arrested for civil disobedience.)

"Around" 35 years ago, some protestors decided to stop a train carrying "weapons" by laying down on the tracks. One guy realized too late that the engine would not stop in time and he lost his legs. The engineer sued the protestor for emotional harm but a judge dismissed the suit.

Get yourself a 3-D printer, learn Sketch-up, and you can earn more back than your costs selling them in HO & N. Once you have learned, you can create any odd-ball car or load.

Soon the shipping season will open in Churchill Manitoba, it will come back to Symington Yard (CN, in Winnipeg), and pull grain cars up past me, HBR (Thompson), to the Churchill port. Spring comes late to the North. Best wishes from the far North.

the reporting marks have changed on it already. The original was VWXX-800, so I am thinking that it is already in service with it having the DODX reporting as well as being tied to the covered coil cars.

That blue caboose must be set up as some sort of mobile office for some big wig or for some special purpose. Maybe a field office for new rail construction or major repair to existing rail line.

@@nathanjplatt Thank you. I researched it and found what they use it for. Although considering some of what they provide protection for you would think something that does not stand out and bring attention to itself would be preferred since its presence could tell enemies where something they want is on what train. Unless they put it on a train that does not have anything to guard to mislead enemies so they attack the wrong train but then they would be putting civilian lives and property at risk. Maybe they should build enough to put them on all trains. I am old enough to remember when all trains had a caboose. Always loved to see them, specially when the people were sitting in the cupola.

1:01. I saw a box car just like that on the RUPO today. Two of them. 1:04. Saw a couple of those two! Also, apparently CSX had to take 148 engines out of service cause at a few paint shops the crews though pan am bought CSX so they painted 148 engines in the pan am paint scheme 😂😂

The trauma suffered by a train driver [engineer: North America] when someone is killed due to unbelievable stupidity [certainly a 'Darwin Candidate'] lasts for a very long time. It's another form of PTSD, if you will. Those who are unable to return to work in this capacity, and are re-assigned other jobs by their employer.
