Fun Fact about the Francis Scene: John says "You've lost weight", Francis replies "Over 60 pounds" (Francis actually says the kilogram equivalent, 27 Kilograms, but the subtitles translate it to pounds for us Americans) which directly translates to the amount of guards inside. This is a code and a test for Francis. He is telling John that there are 27 people inside guarding the boy. And BECAUSE he was honest with John and showed that mutual respect, he let Francis go and "take the night off".

I couldn't agree more. For me it's a 5/5 film for what it is. This film was groundbreaking in the way they filmed the fightscenes. Do you remember all the action films before with the shaky camera? Oh, how I hated them. Also the simplicity of the plot is very refreshing. It is so minimal and straight forward. It achieves what it needs to: takes us on an emotional journey with an interesting character. The world building is so rich. Gives us a peek into something we haven't seen before (it's not just a mafia or gangs fighting), there is a worldwide structure. Can I praise the fightscenes again? They are very unique, mesmerising and the camera is static. You can actually see what's going on! It became one of my favourite films after just the first time watching and I'm not a manly man, but a woman who just enjoys all kind of genres.

If you like the gun fighting sequences, watch "Equilibrium," starring Christian Bale. 3.5 stars, because it’s low budget? C’mon man that is something that should add points. The ending being a knife fight is because literally they ran out of blank bullets and couldn’t afford more. Keanu’s stunt work, his weapons handling, his acting. The way the build up John wick by having a character say “oh”. They make you fear him before they give details on him. The unique world it’s set in, how assassins are everywhere and have their own system. Their currency, their code, the concept of the continental. The cop…. All these touches that show you how the world in which it’s set is slightly different, and each sequel builds on it. Until you get the mind blowing opening sequence of John wick 3. “Tick tock”

Point is the pulled off a good action revenge movie with plenty of original elements, the “gun fu” is so original and cool. Took a lot of training. The fact the managed all that on a low budget is a good thing. Lots of great movies have low budgets resiouvior dogs, primer, saw, 12 angry men. Psycho Those last two even had small budgets for 50s and 60s First movie has the lowest budget, so it’s action was more modest and less hugely over the top like the sequels. It deserves pints for having a low budget, not penalties. Low budgets makes good movies more impressive because they had to work harder and be more creative…

I get nice reminders of the Batman cartoon where a goon Batman beat up earlier leaves him alone after finding and then telling another goon that he found nothing before heading home.

My favorite part of this movie is the scene with Francis (Kevin Nash) and not just because it is a funny scene, but they were actually talking to each other in code. When John asks how much weight Francis lost, Francis replies 60 lbs. But if you listen he said kilograms, when he spoke in Russian (because of the metric system). 60 lbs. is 27 kilograms and there were 27 guards watching Iosef inside the club. John wasn't asking about his weight, he was asking Francis how many people he would potentially have to kill. I believe John asked Francis in code, because he saw that Francis had his earpiece in, so just in case Francis' radio was transmitting. This was confirmed by Kevin Nash in an interview.

this revenge story is told hundreds of times but john wick's execution is what makes it above of the rest. john wick is a proof that you don't need to be super original with the concept, just make it good.

The head bodyguard that gave John some trouble was the lead Agent in Matrix Reloaded. He was the one that said Neo was still "only human" and also fought Morpheus on top of the truck. And the doctor was the Keymaker in Matrix Reloaded.

The puppy crawled over to him before it died to be close to him. That's what triggered me. It's the only film I've ever watched that I had to pause and take a break to calm down.

1. When John fights Viggo he draws the knife in to "stab" himself exactly where he had already been stabbed. 2. Of course you can't stop - JW 2 and JW 3 are "must watch" movies.

Keanu was professionally trained to shoot with different weapons by Taran Tactical so he really developed this skills, they also went for the realism to the point of counting the bullets and reload so it is accurete, they created very detailed underworld that gets revealed more and more in each movie with it`s rules like Continental being safe grounds and the place the coins take etc so you don`t just watch for the action but to understand the world they are in. Markus couldn`t say no because for sure he would`ve been shot so he doesn`t contact John

The lighting on this movie was done on purpose by colour to the scene. When John is in a blue or green light, he's fighting but he's winning/determined. When he's in yellow (The Continental) he's neutral - not doing anything, not expecting anything. When the light is red on him, he's about t kill OR get hurt himself - Perkins was in red light as John walked passed her in the Continental lounge club, foreshadowing!. It's a bit more nuanced than that if you look it up, but that's the general gist of it. Subtle but awesome! And the scene where Daisy was killed was very distressing for Alfie to do, and he spent a lot of his off-time cuddling the puppy that played Daisy, bonding with her. Says a lot about him as a person as well as an actor. 😀 I was dead-set ugly crying at that scene the my first time I saw this film, and even in reaction vids I skip over that part every time. 😭😭🐶

I watched John Wick years ago and liked it. This week I binged on all 3 John Wicks movies and on second viewing realize how brilliantly crafted each film is. On the surface, it's just mindless violence but it's elegantly choreographed. The dialogue is minimal but packs a punch. There is an undercurrent of dry humor and the sets and locations are well chosen. Its basic no BS storytelling, three act progession is timeless.

First time watching the channel, one of mu favorite action movies, several reasons why: the action sequences are truly revolutionary, Keanu Reeves is a perfect casting, the highlighting of "the code" is always a good element if done properly and this is done most properly, the cast is excellent, just a great story. Hard to watch the puppy get taken but that really sets up the rest of the movie. Love your channel, really appreciate that you're not dripping with profanity which I find very distracting. Just a great bunch of guys watching a movie. Love it. Subscribed.

The dog he picked at the end was marked to be euthanised, probably just because he's a pittbull! They actually used a rescue dog as the "actor" for the dog :)
