First time watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire movie reaction

Time to embark on the Harry Potter journey with The Goblet of Fire!
Badd Medicine here and its Harry Potter reaction time! Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe's) fourth year at Hogwarts is about to start and he is enjoying the summer vacation with his friends. They get the tickets to The Quidditch World Cup Final, but after the match is over, people dressed like Lord Voldemort's (Ralph Fiennes') "Death Eaters" set a fire to all of the visitors' tents, coupled with the appearance of Voldemort's symbol, the "Dark Mark" in the sky, which causes a frenzy across the magical community. That same year, Hogwarts is hosting "The Triwizard Tournament", a magical tournament between three well-known schools of magic : Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang. The contestants have to be above the age of seventeen, and are chosen by a magical object called "The Goblet of Fire". On the night of selection, however, the Goblet spews out four names instead of the usual three, with Harry unwittingly being selected as the Fourth Champion. Since the magic cannot be reversed, Harry is forced to go with it and brave three exceedingly difficult tasks. This movie is another level up from Prisoner of Azkaban! Can't wait to get the next one up for you all!

It's more being surprised that the audience didn't stay the same. Normally you pick one age group as a writer and stick to it. Like for kids/teens/adults/families. Harry Potter however evolved with the original audience throughout.

Oak zeroed in on a separation even in the millenial generation, and it's crazy that it only exists because of how the age groups dealt with the technology boom. Oak is part of the older group of cultural millenials that were way more analog, and the age group he's describing is the young millenials that these movies were made for. Way more growing up in the digital world these younger millenials. The Disney millenials. Movies started catering to this age group at this time and hasn't shifted into superheroes as they became adults. But the separation internally in generations is something that really became so vast large part because of the tech explosion. It makes sense that it was hard to describe because it's not something really talked about, how rapid progress in technology has affected so many age groups in vastly different and significant areas of life

One thing these movies miss the most is Harry's sass: Seriously. In the books, almost every sentence that comes out of Harry's mouth comes with a bit of either sass or sarcasm. My favorite is when Harry is talking to Professor Snape (don't remember what it was about, but it ended like this): Harry: "Yes..." Snape: "Yes, "sir"..." Harry: "There's no need to call me sir, Professor."

If im not mistaken this is in year 6 when Snape was the Defense against the Dark arts teacher and he was teaching non verbal spells and he jinxed Harry and Harry yelled out a protego so strong it knocked Snape off his feet. And thats when Snape asked Harry if he remembered they were suppose to be non verbal and Harry responded yes, and Snape said yes sir.

It's an outdated Name more common in the generation of my grandparnets or so. I met a little girls a while ago who is actually named after her. In the book, the reason why the Death Eaters were not immediately being taken out by all the wizards at the Quidditch World Cup was because they had managed to capture a muggle family and literally had them suspended upside-down 200 feet above the ground. The Ministry was terrified that if they attacked the Death Eaters directly the family would come falling to their deaths.

But if there's one thing that Harry Potter shows consistently is that wizards have no idea what they're doing most the time. @@theOneThatWas It’s magic yes but there’s still rules to it. Not to mention not every wizard knows the full breadth of what’s possible or what spells may work in a particular situation. For example, how much of your civics class or English and math classes do you retain after high school? Unless you’re using these spell everyday, your likely to forget a fair bit of what you learned in school. It’s why at the ministry of magic, they have different witches and wizards who specialize in particular spells and enchantments. Also, with the publics panic during the attack, all that commotion and confusion could be difficult for whatever aurors present to aim their spells properly to stop the death eaters or prevent injury and destruction.

I cannot explain the feeling of growing up with Harry Potter, you said it exactly right, it felt like it was for ME. The first book was released in September 1998, I was 8 years old. I will never forget how I felt reading each of those books, especially as I got older. I was 17 when the last book was published, same age as Harry. An absolute privilege to experience that.

Adding to what everyone already said, there's a great subplot with the female reporter, she is secretly an unregistered animagus that turns into a ladybug and spies all of Harry's conversations with Ron and Hermione and spies everyone, she allies with Draco too and causes lots of problems for the Trio. She keeps on writing articles bashing Dumbledore and Harry and even Hermione calling her a gold digger and a loose woman and Mrs Weasley is very aggravated with her and poor Hermione has a very bad time watching her reputation go down the drain, specially because she is 14 , but she soon realizes that something is wrong and finds out about the animagus thing and captures her and blackmails her into writing an honest story about what really happened with harry. Hermione was not a pretty, pretty girl, she had very bushy hair that was very difficult to tame, she had huge protruding teeth and she did not care much about being girly, but after a nasty spell from Draco her teeth grew so much that she had to spend a few days at the hospital wing and the nurse restored her teeth to their original size...not really, Hermione being 14 started to feel awkward and wishing for the same things other girls also wanted so tricked her into making her teeth a lot smaller and pretty, so her transformation for the ball was huge, she appeared with beautiful hair and all proper feminine, no one, not even Harry or Ron knew who she was at first. But my favourite part is Mrs Weasley supporting Harry during the Tournament, the Champions are allowed to have family with them before each task, Harry has no one but Mrs. Weasley along with her son Charlie take that role because of course, although Sirius is also there he can do not it publicly. She is the one who comforts Harry after Cedric's death, she is the first loving embrace Harry ever experiences in his life. As a teacher, Barty (under the guise as Moody) was actually quite effective. Despite his ulterior motives, his teaching of how to overcome curses such as the Imperius was valuable to Harry, who gained the ability to resist even Voldemort himself as a result of this training. But guys, there's so many subpolts and details in this book that it is impossible to share in a comment.

They were age appropriate throughout our entire childhood and we grew with the characters which is a huge reason it’s so special to a lot of us. Yep, that was right on the money. I, too, believe that the way these books and movies catered to one specific generation as it grew up and got older is a key part to their success. I was lucky enough to be in the right age group for the books. They were so relatable to me, especially since the books go into much more detail about the inner workings and feelings of this boy going through his teenage years. For the movies, I was slightly too old when they came out. I watched the first two in theaters, wasn't really into them, rented the third one on DVD at some point, and that was it. It was years later when I happened to catch one of the later movies on cable (I think the 6th one) and thought: "Damn, that was actually good!" Fast forward to January 2022, they became available on Netflix in my country, I watched them all in order, and what can I say, I'm hooked again.

Oak got it right. I was 9 when the first movie came out and 17 when it all ended. I literally grew up with Harry Potter and now that I’m 30 I treasure JK Rowling’s wizarding world as one of my best teenage memories. As you already said, you have to read HP books to be able to understand everything, they missed so many scenes and characters in the movies, but still they are great. This is where it all started for our boy Robert Pattinson. He got cast in Twilight because of cast photos from HP, which led to his other roles and people realizing he was actually REALLY talented, which led to Batman.

Some clarifications that were left out but are present in the book: 1) In the book, students of both sexes are present in the delegations from the foreign schools (at least two male French students are mentioned). I guess the movie makers wanted to, erm, increase the impression. 2) Viktor Krum is not Russian but Bulgarian (seen at the beginning of the movie), and the only thing known about the location of Durmstrang is that it is in the north, "where it is very cold, because their uniform includes fur coats"

I'm confused on the Bulgaria part. If they're meant to be from North of Hogwarts, this is wrong, because Hogwarts is in Scotland. Bulgaria is in south eastern Europe, is it not? Even if they were from Latvia or similar, they would still not have been as far north as where Hogwarts is in the north of Scotland. I think it would have made more sense for Durmstrang to be in Russia, because it gets colder there than Scotland, and is still north Lamoo

@@carolinemasson7172 My understanding, based on the books and some supplemental stuff on Pottermore, is that each school handles entire sections of Europe, not just their home countries. Hogwarts takes students from all over the British Isles, not just the UK. (Seamus Finnegan, for example, is heavily implied to be from Ireland.) Beauxbatons in France presumably takes students from all over Western Europe, while Durmstrang, which is probably in either Scandinavia or Russia, would take students from all over Eastern Europe, which would include Bulgaria. At least, that's what I've come up with to fit in the canon, do what you want with it.

The students is so specialized in Quidditch that they're basically unbeatable in the match and furthermore I think it's mentioned that they're also really good in academic. And not only in Japan, there are also Wizarding Schools in Brazil, Africa and even North America. If there's no established Wizarding School in the country or the surrounding countries, the students will enter a small Wizarding Academy or just get home-schooled.

I was 12 years old when the first book came out. I had read that book 2 times before the movies came out. Read every book, watched every movie in theaters. I grew up with this story and that was amazing. That will never happen to me again. The 20 year anniversary on HBO made me cry so much, the actors are my age. There is very much an adult story hidden within these children's books. You just have to read between the lines. The racism, war and corrupt politics are all there in the books. It even gets deeper if you pay attention. It's like a satire at times. As to why you don't see it at first its because you are looking at the story from Harry's point of view. He was too innocent to understand at first so he didn't see the things that adults saw and understood. But as he grows so does the story because Harry is maturing and his point of view is changing with his age.

That is exactly it. Harry Potter was made for you to start watching at around 6-11, and watch each one of them in sequence, one a year. So that way, you are growing up with it. You go through puberty at the same time, you can relate to teen drama, you can relate to learning about loosing people in your life, and life difficulties, all with them. And that is why the fandom is so connected to it, it's because it was made for you to feel like you are a part of their world. So yes, as an adult you can start watching it and do a binge and enjoy the movies, but you probably wont be able to deeply connect to the characters and story as someone doing the first watch on the correct age group. And that's completely okay. You don't have to feel bad if you don't like it as much as others do, or you don't have to feel like you need to bash it because it isn't (for you) as emotionally envolving as LotR, for example. For me, I was 6 when I watched the first one. And I was 10 when this one came out. Coincidentally, two months prior to watching this movie, I saw someone I knew and cared about, die, and seeing Harry watching Cedric die in front of him, and seeing that people do go through that, and can come out of it stronger, helped me immensely. A lot of things in my life are connected to what characters in Harry Potter where going through while I was growing up. Hermione and I had our first crushs at the same time. Ron and I were going through family things and feeling a bit displaced in our families, at the same time. So for me the series are rooted in who I am and what shaped me. And that's why when I introduce this to my kids, I wont let them binge it. They will grow up with it, and they can choose if they want to watch the next one when it's time or not. Cause it was made with that in mid. Sorrry for the whole history book here, lol, got excited. Loved the reaction, can't wait for the next ones.

I first started watching the movies a couple of years ago (I'm very definitely adult). The beauty of these stories is that there are characters of multiple generations. My favorite character in the series is Sirius Black. My initial decision to even try the movies is because of Maggie Smith (McGonagall). She played Dowager Countess Violet in Downton Abbey, who is my favorite character in that series. I'm not overly invested in any of the child actors, though I read a lot of Hermione-centric fanfiction. One of my favorite scenes in this movie is a blink-and-you'll miss it moment where Filch is holding his cat, Mrs Norris, in his arms at the ball and is gently dancing while cuddling her. He's such an awful character the rest of the time, but he genuinely loves his cat. It's a really sweet moment.

That's not the same as an animagus who fails to successfully turn back into a human. My own theory about Mrs Norris is that she is a witch who tried to become an animagus but was unable to return to human form. My headcanon says that she was a woman Filch was in love with (other people speculate she was widowed, which would explain her last name, though of course it would be weird anyway for Filch and his cat to both have the same name), and of course she would not be able to carry on with her normal life as a cat. Therefore, she went with him to Hogwarts, where they could live together and nobody would think it strange that he would love his cat so much. Of course we don't know if she had anyone else who would miss her.

in the books, beaxbuton and durmstrang werent just boys and girls. they brought their pupils which were 17 years or older. furthermore, fleur is part veela, which is a magical creature which is basically a super hot witch and most people around her are in to her. cedric diggory was in the books before the goblet of fire. he is the hufflepuff quiditch captain. he beat gryffindor in the third book, when harry crashed due to the dementor attack. he caught the snitch after harry crashed. diggory then wanted to redo the match since it was unfair for gryffindor, since harry crashed. but gryffindor said, that they wouldve lost even without crashing since the match was heavily in favor of hufflepuff. furthermore the movie let out a substory with fred and george weasley, who bet a large sum of galleons on the quidditch world cup, predicting ireland will win but krum will catch the snitch. that happened. fred and george wanted to get their betting money from a guy named ludo bagman, who is completly missing in the movie. he didnt give them the money because he had debts of his own. so in the end harry gifted fred and george the 1000 galleons of the triwizards price money. ludo bagman was an ex quidditch star, who worked for the quidditch departmend of the ministry of magic. in the books bagman was very vocal about letting harry participate in the tourney, because he saw a chance to get rid of his debts by betting everything on harry. he helped harry out in the tournament a few times or at leat he tried. he and crouch (who worked for the foreign affairs department), basically organized the quidditch world cup and the triwizard tourney. furthermore bagman and crouch were very crucial to the trials, which took place in the memory. they had three cases in the books. one with karkaroff, who was a deatheater in the past. he said snape was a deatheater aswell. but dumbledore told the tribunal, snape works for him and another case, which i wont spoil, since it gets somewhat explained in the next movie. the main handler of the dragons is actually rons second oldest brother charly, who works with dragons in romania. they mentioned him pretty early on in the first book, but like bill, he doesnt show up until the fourth book. harry stays with the weasleys for the most of the summerholidays and the weasleys, ecxept molly, harry and hermoine visit the world cup. in the beginning of the book harry still was with the dursleys and the weasley visited to get harry, which was pretty hilarious. harry had to train very hard to master the accio charm. they actually learned it in class in this year and harry was one of the worst at it. he and and fake moody formulated a plan, before the first task, to get the broom. fake moody wanted harry to win, so he helped him a lot. fake moody even gave neville the plant book, so harry could find out about the weed. in the books he never asked neville about it. fake moody told dobby to give it to harry. dobby works in hogwarts in the fourth book. the third task was the labyrinth in the books, but unlike the wind, the obstacles were a bit more dangerous. harry had to fight a boggart, a spider, a magical mist and at the end he had to solve a riddle. it was way more interesting. but the movie didnt have the time the first tasked was pretty action packed in the movie. in the book all the dragons were female and just guarded their eggs. so harry called for his broom and snatched the egg. he didnt do parkour on the hogwarts towers. and the handlers immediatly put the dragon to sleep after harry got the egg.

The biggest thing missing from this movie (in terms of adaptation from the books) is Sirius. In the books, Sirius actually travels to Hogwarts & hides in a cave outside of town. Harry goes to see him a few times over the course of the story & those meetings really are the basis of the relationship between Harry & Sirius. Cutting that out has a knock on effect that you'll see in future films. There is a lot of differences between books & films from here on out. The books really are quite massive by this point, even the third movie had a LOT of stuff cut from the books.

The book had previously mentioned Cedric as Hufflepuff's quidditch captain, and through his character we learned that students in Hufflepuff are generally not famous high-achievers, only because their main quality is their loyalty and kindness, which are often overlooked. Cedric being so famous, good-looking, and bright made his death a terrible loss for Hufflepuff. The grief and mourning of the Hufflepuffs are deeper than shown in the movie. The fourth book was also where we learn further about the Weasley brothers. We meet Charlie, Ron's second-eldest brother, who is in charge of the dragons. Percy, the third-eldest, already graduated and worked under Barty Crouch in the Ministry. In fact, he was in charge as the judge in Triwizard Tournament because Barty Crouch was under the Imperius Curse by Peter Pettigrew and Voldemort, who ordered him to stay home and take a sick leave. We also found out that the reason why Neville lives with his Grandmother is because both his parents are aurors who were tortured with Cruciatus Curse to the point of insanity. The whole book introduces the Unforgivable Curses as the things Death Eaters use lightly, which shows their cruelty and lack of empathy. Basically all of the tasks in the tournament and Harry's process of solving the clues are simplified in the movie. In the book it's more elaborate.

Yeah a lot of important and interesting side characters and plot points get the shaft in the movies. It's an unfortunate side effect of changing mediums. Harry Potter would probably be better as an episodic show now that there's less constraints about number of episodes/length of episodes due to online streaming options.

Now just imagine being an elementary aged child that discovered the books when reading becomes the focus in school, and finishing the series right before the 1st movie comes out when you’re just about Harry’s age of 11. Therefore the entire franchise- books and movies cover two different age groups. You’re spot on about growing up with the actors/characters and how special that is. I was the exact age of the characters when the movies started, 11, and 20 by the end of the last movie. I also was reading the books simultaneously, and the same thing, I read the last book at 17, same age as Harry. For that reason alone, this series is special and nothing else will probably touch for me. I love that it takes almost half the series to finally get Voldemort as a full threat for the world. And after 13 years of pain, he must be pretty mad and excited to make them suffer. Cedric's father scream always get me. He started calling him his son, which is classic, then switch to "my boy", giving us this filling he was just a kid to him. It's just so powerful despite not having Cedric long enough. Imagine that kind of scene with someone you know from the first movie. It would be heartcrushing.

I don't really agree that 17 year olds or adults couldn't enjoy the first movies because they are "kids' movies". They still have good stories and the world they create is magical and you only get to experience it once for the first time, watching the first movie. That's why we love HP so much. I was 11 when these came out and they absolutely grew with me and me with them. It was a magical time being able to relate and empathize with the characters. J.KRowling is brilliant in being able to achieve this. I watch them all the time and am currently re-reading the books(which are much more detailed.)

40:22 Well it was mentioned in the book that the Tournament used to be a regular event between the three schools, but because of the high death toll, it was discontinued for a long time. The reason it was brought back in Goblet of Fire was because the schools were keen on setting certain restrictions on the tournament so that they could try to avoid any further deaths. Not only was it a shock that a student still ended up being killed, but the fact that he was killed by Voldemort himself was a huge shock for everyone because no one (except for Dumbledore and Harry) had seen him or knew of his whereabouts after his failed attempt to kill Harry. So you can imagine how everyone must have felt after seeing Cedric's dead body. I hope that cleared up your confusion!

yep the oak guy is totally right!! I was one of these kids who aged with harry potter and it was such an MAGICAL experience! I watched the first movie at 9 years old and loved the dark academy vibes together with the magic and all this stuff, we would have a new movie in 1 or 2 years, so a lot had changed in our mindsets and the movies were keeping it touch with it. Also it gave us a REAL sense as if the "magical world" was actually true and we were having "news" about Harrys life and the battle between the wizards and voldemort. Bu it was really insane being able to age with your favourite characters, something really special and unique. I wish they would make more series like this, because it's something really cool to do for a generation.

This spider actually exists. It's called Phrynus Marginemaculatus, it lives in caves (and forests) and is known to be quite tenderly and loving with their offspring. There's also a bigger version called Damon Diadema and while they're quite loving to their offspring as well, it only lasts until they reach a certain age, while the Phrynus Marginemaculatus stays motherly.

My son was 11 when the first HP came out - so exactly right age - a new HP came out almost exactly a year apart so he aged (just like you said) as the characters aged in real time and the tenor of the film became more grown up and dark - you are right it grabbed a huge audience because it was so much anticipated after the phenominal book sales worldwide and it carried that audience through the whole franchise - kids were crazy excited when the new one was due

When I joined the military in 2000 and was headed to my first duty station, a German guy was reading the first HP book. I became obsessed. Then the movies started coming out. I vowed to not watch any of them because I wanted to read them all before I watched the movies, but I broke my back and got bored so I watched the first 3 on DVD. I finished them right before Goblet of Fire came out. So this was the first HP movie I saw in theaters. I was so invested, I definitely got teary eyed when Cedric's dad yells out. Luckily for y'all it only gets better, so buckle up fellas!!!

I love that you appreciate how amazing it was to grow up with these movies! I did (born in '95) and it really was just awesome watching the whole cast age and mature with me. Having the movies be released in sync with my life truly was magical. I saw all the movies as a kid as they came out and read the books when I was older (just before deathly hollows pt 1). I'm so glad it worked out that way. I remember seeing the great hall at Hogwarts initially in the first movie, with the floating candles and night sky, and being in such awe just like Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Going to "the new Harry Potter" was kind of like a milestone in itself throughout my life and always exciting year after year. Not only us as viewers, but think about the main cast that lived through their growing up years in the world of Harry Potter! it's emotional 🥲

I was definitely a little older than the intended age group when I started reading the books. I was 17 by the time I picked up Sorcerer's Stone. I had just moved from NYC to Florida and was really upset, and one of my older sister's new friends lent me her copy of Sorcerer's Stone. The moving truck with our stuff was like a week+ late, so I had none of my stuff, and I also missed my extended family and friends back in NYC. I read the book in July and then the movie came out that November, which I didn't even know about until I saw it in the theater. I skipped the movie I had bought the ticket for and sneaked into Sorcerer's Stone, been a big fan ever since, and showed it to my niece and nephew when they were old enough.

I was the perfect age for the books/movies and now I recognize how lucky I was - I don't think there's any other experience I can compare it to. It was a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon. Looking back, it makes sense that kids my age were so obsessed with it, it was made for us. Harry Potter was my entire childhood and the characters felt even more like friends because I literally grew up alongside them. Watching your reactions is bringing back so many happy memories and nostalgia!

I was a year or two younger than the actors when this series first started and I can confirm that the feeling that the movies mature along with the characters was exactly how I felt. Looking back, I really appreciated being able to relate to the characters at different stages of their lives. I watched more than half of these movies with my parents as they came out and I will always cherish those experiences and the feeling of collective excitement as we watched them together at the theatres.

I think to Oak's point about the targeted demographics of these movies: he's 100% accurate!! They absolutely matured the tone of the movies to match not only the maturity of the actors, but the maturity of their target audience as well. It was definitely a unique experience getting to grow up with these movies as they came out. It really helps to see the three kids as my peers. I almost feel bad that most people watching them now won't get that. I recently watched them all with my sister's kids who are ages 5-14 (5 kids, hard to find a single thing that is interesting to all of them at the same time lol) and they all loved them. Well, except the youngest. She enjoyed the first couple but then did say that they got too scary for her. Yet she's seen all the Pirates of the Caribbean movies which I think have scarier imagery than HP lol, but there's something deeper about the darkness in Potter, I guess.

1990 babies represent! The first book came out in 1997 and my parents brought it for me that year, followed by the next books going forward on release day.. Harry was slightly older than me but I was so deep into the story and the world - The first real series of books I had thoroughly read through and invested in. Then comes 2001, I’m 11 years old, Harry is 11 years old, Philosophers Stone film comes out literally around my 11th birthday as I went and saw it with my friends for my party. We grew up side by side with Harry and the Wizarding World and the stories, themes and development practically echoed our own current lives!

The reason the books and movies get darker and more adult as we go along, is to give us the sense of growing up with the characters. The first movie is all about the magic and wonder of this new amazing world that has opened up to Harry, but the further we go along and the older the characters get, the higher the stakes get as well. So if you grew up with the books or movies as they came out, you were literally growing up alongside Harry, Ron and Hermione 😊 Edit: I just watched a little bit further and they literally say this 🤦‍♀️ but yeah, it's really neat 😅

The whole conversation about the series aging with the audience really hits home! Now while I wasn't the same age as the characters when the movies were coming out, I was actually a bit younger, I was still able to grow up with them and it was actually insanely emotional when the last one came out and then it was all over cuz it came out when I was 11, and that was the age where everything started for the characters. So the end of my childhood happened when Harry Potter ended, which was the age when the kids in the story's childhood ended and they all began to grow into adolescence. I can only imagine what it would have been like to have been the same age as the characters and grow along with them at the same rate, but as someone who was just a bit younger who got to grow with it, it was truly special. Harry Potter was my whole childhood. I grew up watching them, even from probably too young of an age cuz I had an older brother who watched them, but they consumed my childhood and they were one of the most special things about that time for me. Harry Potter brought me some of my greatest joys in being a kid, because it fed that insane imagination that all kids have and it was just so fun. So ya, when u guys talk about the series growing with the audience, and how awesome that is, u truly have no idea what it was like for kids during that time. It was truly special.

I just came back to finish the video lol. The observation about the audience's age range growing with the movies/books is spot on. I feel lucky to be part of that range with the first one coming out right around my 9th birthday and the last film when I was almost 19. My bf wasn't allowed to watch them so I showed it to him a few years ago and he genuinely enjoys them. But it doesn't have quite the same impact as it did if you were to grow with the characters. 💕

I was around 9 when the first Harry Potter movie came out and after watching it in theaters I immediately started reading the books. I genuinely grew with the movies/books and aged with the characters. As a kid who grew up in a dysfunctional home I cannot really express what growing up with a character like Harry did for me, but I would say that I think while any age can and should watch and enjoy the series, the experience I had with them is one that cant be replicated. My best friend didnt read them or watch the movies until she was already an adult and even though we both love them, we have talked a lot about how different our experiences are.

As a teenage boy when this movie came out, I can 100% attest to having fallen in love with Hermione at her dance intro scene. Edit: Oak, you're 100% correct about the strange but awesome age range dynamic. The series grew WITH us from 10-20 years old. I think it's one of the major contributors to why people my age are so in love with this series.
