Beautiful song by Pete Ham along with scenery from Wales and quote from Phillip Dunne, author of "How Green Was My Valley". I hope his family and friends enjoy it.

I liked Pete Ham. He was a direct, intelligent, non-judgemental, kindly man, open to talking about anything without holding himself back.
@wormsnake12 жыл бұрын
Pete Ham was a pure natural talent. All members of Badfinger were brilliant but this man had a rare gift for melody and song writing. His song writing and vocals were seriously as good as any of his generation. It’s easy to ponder “what could have been” but I prefer to remember “what was”. I do sometimes think about what would have happened had Pete managed find the inner strength to hold on but alas it was not to be. What a talent though. Forever in the hearts of every music lover and he will never be forgotten.👌🥊🎼.x

This is my favorite song because of the lovely melody and the deep and meaningful lyrics. The poem at the end of the video speaks volumes in just a short paragraph. Thanks! The scenes are all from Wales, mostly around Pete, Mike and Ron Griffith's home Swansea. Photos of the sheep are an inside joke about jibes from band mates who thought the streets in Wales were full of sheep. After their first Wales gig, they rounded a corner and found a flock of sheep blocking the road - their big city bandmates kidded them for a long time.

A Shakespeare scholar enlightened me as to the title of the song. It is from "Antony and Cleopatra", and it is spoken by the servant who is giving Cleopatra the asp for her suicide (oh, irony !). The servant says, "The bright day is done, my lady/And we are for the dark". "They were but a moment's sunlight fading in the grass"--but such a sublime glow! Shine on...
