As Bach himself told us, playing this is rather easy. One need only play the right note at the right time, and the instrument plays itself!

Maybe you're right, but I'm sorry 😅 I think he is objectively off-beat, especially the end of his sentences, it feels like he always finish too late and so he's trying to run after lost time. When I listen it feels like a struggle and not like the enjoyable wind flow you can find in some interpretations like this one : kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKTMop19nNyoi5osi=aGstQSmDtUFUGtvs

@PooMonkeyMan3 жыл бұрын
His technique here has actually gotten sloppier, much due to his age during this recording. Despite all the comments that say he’s going too fast, his performances will always remain a reference point for me on flute music.
@naiman45352 жыл бұрын
Actually, I liked Rampal's rendition of Badinerie much better than James Galway's - Rampal's interpretation was much kinder and gentler, with nuances, slurs and grace notes that Galway just idn't have the time to put in. And even though Rampal takes Badinerie at a more relaxed pace than Galway, still, it doesn't drag. James Galway seems to have set the pace for modern flutists in playing this piece lickety-split, like a bat out of hell - I don't like it. I'm sure that, back in Bach's day, the pace was more relaxed, and closer to that of Rampal.
