So i just tried them out with the new Alienware Oled monitor and it works perfectly with the hdmi connection. No issues with getting a video signal out of it. Definitely my favorite headset for my current setup.

Had these in the UK for about 2 weeks now. Once eq'd i like them so much for gaming that I've sold my Maxwell. Maxwell never really hit the spot for FPS games or comfort for me. Plus flip to mute mic is more convenient for me. Don't need the Maxwell for music as i have other options. Really really pleased with the A50x.

@@exhope2073 I had a problem with the mic always dropping to my chin. Astro sent me a new one. I still had warranty. When you tried to reset the headset and it still does noises on pc and console you should ask the Astro support.

The key feature I buy Astros for is Dolby decode in hardware. That the A50 X receives audio through HDMI and doesn't have hardware Dolby Digital or Dolby ATMOS Headphone decode is incredibly disappointing.

Can't wait for the a50 x to finally arrive. Here in Germany I was able to pre order it 2 days ago and it says that it will arrive in the middle of February. I'm still playing with the a50 gen 3 since it got released in 2017, so this should be a huge upgrade. 😁

Thanks for showing the setting to use for the A50x. In Astro’s tutorial they tell you to put the output to TV instead of the A50x. The mixer was not working for me😅 Had me WORRIED

Just to comment on something that a lot of people don't, anyone with the GEN 4 use a optical cable the sound is a lot better. The new A5 X takes the sound from the HDMI 2.1 I never tried them so I can't comment on it but speaking on paper HDMI 2.1 sound versus optical the 2.1 is supposed to sound better for surround sound. But just straight up USB versus optical cable always go with optical

@3:08 metric.. respect. also, that aux connection on gen3 and 4 base station is clutch. plug a cheap 3.5mm bluetooth adapter into it and boom! simultaneous bluetooth. optical from base station straight into tv (best sound imo), hdmi connected xbox, ps5, switch, to tv and boom! sound, chat, simultaneous bluetooth on all 3 consoles!

@@cajunomics350that’s right! as long as you have optical on your tv, you’re good to go! i have gen 3 a50’s… plug the 3.5mm bluetooth into the base station and then connect your phone/ipad to that bluetooth connection like normal, everything works flawlessly. enjoy!

Yeah the A50 X you'll hear more detail for sure and the bass won't sound quite as boomy. After adjusting, I really like the A50 X for music more.

I just got my A50X a few days and I'm really liking them so far. I ended up changing the ear pads for some wicked cushions, but I do like the stock ear pads. Only issue I have with them is that I can't get a video signal through the base station, It seems to be a common issue with a lot of monitors. I plan to pick up one of the new 4k 32 inch OLED monitors this year, I have a feeling it'll work perfectly with one of those. Overall it's a fantastic headset but definitely overpriced, Especially when considering that the Audeze Maxwell is still cheaper than this. I just love that I can have one headset for all platforms. I do wish the battery life was closer to 40 hours, But it's not really a deal breaker for me.

I gotta be honest with u bro I have tbe a50 gen 4 and got the maxwells a few weeks ago. I'm using both headsets still. The maxwells are so heavy I can only use them for so long. When I'm listening to music or watching a movie I'll use the maxwells. They overall sound better and the bass is beyond amazing. When I'm playing games for a long period of time I'm using the super light a50s. I think I might end up getting the a50x as well not to possibly replace the gen 4s.

Hi I've had my ASTRO a50× for about a week now and there t the best sounding headphones I've ever used and I had them all I regret buying the audeze maxwell they been sitting on my desk for two months now there too too too heavy for every day use and there boring no immersion and the app sucks these ASTRO a50x bl0w them out of the water and there the best for movies I have the wicked cushions for them they make them a little bit heavier but still these are the headphones to buy there worth every penny I will be rocking these for many years there nothing on the market can top them these a50x are like the caddilac of headphones or the king stay safe and happy gaming to all

@@54Shadowolf I went in a different direction mostly due to complaints about the stability of the head set. To be honest man, ear buds work fine and dropping hundreds for gamin is ridiculous. top tier and bottom there is a difference but not enough to justify the price. ive bought 4 different Microsoft controllers and the original is my fav. ive returned the others. I cant justify hundreds of dollars just to change the button layout. The elite is cool but is smaller and harder to use more so than the original one. Buy a microsoft headset and use that extra money on another game. Also your 200 dollars headset wont resell for anything ,so you will get $0 back down the road.

Thank you for the review! So I currently have gen 4s but they're on their last legs lol, battery won't really hold a charge. Other misc bugs. I just got the maxwells (only because the black a50x are sold out) and I like how crisp they sound, but the lack of bass is killing me!! I upped the bass a bit and it helps but when I use my gen4s explosions sound incredible and realistic. Do you think I'm better off returning the maxwells and just waiting until the a50x are in stock? I always had terrible spatial pin pointing with the gen4s. It's deff better now with the maxwells but I need more drama from them lol. Thanks!

Thanks for the comparison. When I saw that the Xs came out I was really torn on whether or not to get them but having seen this video, I think I'll stick with my Gen 4s for now. The only REAL difference I can see is the microphone, but I don't use it often and have a separate mic anyway so for all intents and purposes they're the same to me. Maybe one day when my Gen 4s die I'll consider the Xs

first of all, love your reviews.. not a lot of people cover bass when reviewing headphones, which is important to me, so keep it up...I've had a40s and a50s in the past and loved them both.. Ive been rocking with the nova pro wireless for the past couple years because of the Bluetooth feature... loved them too, but there really wasnt enough bass for me although the clarity was there. since the new a50s have Bluetooth now im highly considering coming back to astro. i guess my question is with the new drivers, do the a50X still have that warm sound and bass like the a40s and previous a50s did?

If the gen 4 charges slow and only when the console is on is because you need a usb a to usb a to plug in the back of the dock to charge it from a wall adapter or something. Then it will always charge no matter the console being on or off plus it's faster

Probably just messed up sometimes if u mute it doesn't actually mute it. Turning off and on can fix it. Also I would recommend hard resetting your headset if u have issues like that

I’ve been waiting for a new version of the A50, seems like I’ll keep waiting. I don’t game much anymore so I wouldn’t use them enough to justify getting the X. and it doesn’t really seem like much of an improvement either for almost $400. I can switch between Xbox, PS, and PC… but I personally only use PC so that doesn’t matter. Mic does sound a lot better, but I’ve never had anyone complaining about my Gen 4 mic. They’ve also added a power brick now… that’s nice for charging while the pc is off, but wait, they didn’t even fix the docking issue lol.. and lastly the Logitech branding just looks tacky compared to the old Astro branding and style. 0/10 wouldn’t recommend.

Normally, no. You have to switch between one or the other. However, you can use Lightspeed wireless on console and Bluetooth on your PC. And both get headphone and mic audio to work simultaneously. That's what I do to stream PS5 games on Discord.

Because it will stay on if i don't unplug it, I'm tired constantly unplugging it after I'm done using it, I'm afraid if it stays on it will over charge the headset, its weird I never seen a headset base station that you can not turn off. No splitter needed. But if you want to use the HDMI switcher, you will just need another HDMI cable.

Do you think the audeze maxwells are better than these a50x? I heard sound quality is better on the maxwells but they might not be as comfortable to wear compared to the a50s. If you had to pick between the two which would it be?

Yeah comfort is definitely an issue on the Maxwell, At least for me. They are the best sounding wireless headset at that price range that I've used, But really heavy to the point that I can't use it for more than an hour or two before having to take a break. If you're ok with the weight than just go for the Maxwell, but If you can take advantage of the features of the A50X then that would be my pick. For me I'm sticking with the A50X, simply because it still sounds great and I can wear it all day without any issues.

Someone else might have figured out a solution, but none of the PC presets that I've used save to console either. It seems like you have to use the phone app for consoles and the PC app on desktop but the EQ settings don't transfer. Hopefully they change that in an update because any EQ you apply from PC still works on Bluetooth. I've basically just been recreating whatever I had to PC to the phone app for now.

Gotta say, not a fan of the power brick. Was so awesome on the a50s you just needed to plug it in the PC for power Edit: saw you don’t need to use the power brick. Guess that included since your can use this headset everywhere and don’t have a pc and for. Want to have multiple consoles on . Props to Astro

These might be by far the worst 300 plus dollars I have ever spent on a electronics device, the number 1 issue with the a50x is when u do split the sound through multiple devices, you aren’t getting the full sound as you did in with the gen 4’s. This was A greedy move and a not thought out product By Logitech, these are one of the worst versions of the Astros series hands down, gaming sounds like playing music with no base, save Yall money on these, because these are not it✌🏾💪🏾💯

Hello BadIntend, i havea quick question. I just got my a50 x and i was wondering if the a50 gen 4 mod kit fits on the a50 x. Im using an a50 gen 3 since 2017 and i really like the mod kit more. I just tested myself if i could use my old mod kit on the new a50 x, but this doesn't fit. It would be really nice if you could check if the original ear cushioning from the gen 4 fints on the x.

I hope astro will release a real leather mod kit. The astro gen 4 fake leather makes your ears very warm in summer (or you have air condition.then it doesn't matter)
