Badland ZXR 5000 lb Winch Installation

I installed the New Badland ZXR 5000 lb winch and discovered the problem with the old winch.

Great Video! I gave a go with the Badlands 12,000 lb and have been quite happy with it. Duty cycle is kind of low on it but has not been a problem for me yet.

ive had a few of the cables fry on them and eventually changed to better power wires and that fixed the problem

That's what I did. I think that a combination of getting wet and using the heck out of it to pull a guy's RZR that was buried did the first one in.

Does a mounting plate come with it? I have a winch bumper, I’m new to winches so I’m trying to figure out if I will need to purchase anything extra or if everything comes with the winch to mount to a winch ready bumper. Thanks

Yes a mounting plate comes with the winch. My bumper is a Baddawg and it bolted right to the top of the bumper. I can't say for sure if the stock plate bolts right to the frame of a RZR. Winch has been working great.

Off-Road Riding Adventures thanks man. So the winch and fairlead mounts to the mounting plate correct? I was thinking the fairlead mounted to the winch but if both mount to the plate that makes sense.

Yes, everything came with it. Since the old wiring was still in place, I just used it.

What mounting plate did you use? We just bought same winch and are trying to mount it brand new to our Talon

Sorry for the late response. I used the plate that came with the winch. It bolted to the top of the baddawg bumper.

So far it has worked great. Spend the extra $40 and get the remote control. The new model definitely spools faster than the old model.

So far it has worked fine. I recently changed over to nylon and went away from the cable. The only downside so far is the cheap positive battery cable that comes with it. It's like aluminum wire coated with copper or something like that. Twice the positive wire connecting to the battery has corroded and failed. I replaced it with a better quality wire. Other than that issue, the winch has worked fine.

My question is does original badlands winch plate fit the rzr?

I believe that it does. The new one is the same plate. I've read in posts where guys have used the kfi plate to bolt directly to the frame. Since both of mine have been bumper mounted, I can't give you a for certain answer.
