That is a very good question. Forehand lift and fore hand net drop at the fore court is not neutral grip, it is more to pan handle grip. Many players are making mistakes because they use neutral grip. backhand drop is backhand grip but the thumb position should be more at the corner of the gip (it should not be same as backhand net kill grip. Lee

You are most welcome as I have spend 40 year playing and coaching badminton. I am very fortunate to be able to share my experience and people like you feel they are beneficial. Thank you for your most kind wish. For your grip, the way you feel is right too thick grip lose control and too thin grip lose power. You have to have the right size grip for your hnad and finger size. I will make a clip for it to give players like you to have some good ideas what size of grip is the right size grip. Lee

Yes I do understand your suggetions and that makes a very good sense to me. I will find time to do it using another clup players who never been trained with me so everyone can see very clear wrong real way the detail steps of changing it to the right grip for forhand, backhand and other detailed grip. I will put it on my list and it can be a very useful clip for many people. Thank you for proposing a very good ideas. Lee

Thank you for your comment that you are enjoyning my clips. I am sorry that the grip for drop shots are a bit complicated. There are many different kind of drop shots and grip for each different kind of drop shots are all different. Let say simple and safe push drop shot then you have to turn about 10 degree but if you do fast slice drop shot then it can be nutural grip. I am preparing drop clips and I am explain more detail about the grips. Lee

You should be able to change the grip with out seeing the racket face or end or grip. You should know if you have griped nutural, forehand or backhand by the feeling of your pam and fingers of the grip. By watching it and to know is not right. You should close your eyes and change grip accuriatly. I hope this answers your question. Lee

Thank you so much for your helpful videos! I have seen all of your other videos about grips, and one think I really liked about this one was how you showed on the palm of your hand, where the racket handle lies. If you make any more videos on grip, I think it would be really helpful if you did this for all of the grips. I think it would also be really great if you showed how to enter each grip not only from the neutral grip, but also how you would hold it if you went directly from not holding

Before you hit, when you are setting to hit , it should be 2-3 tention out of 10 but at the impact (backhand clear) your should go 9-10. If you have much power then you may go less. If will be same with smash but you need maxcium power at the impact if you do full smash. Lee

I think you should have a normal grip which you are happy with. Depending on which part of your rcaket grip you grip the feel is different. Also it may be too much to change from net to middle and middle to rear court and it may happens fast. In my view about middle grip is better then having too high grip or too low grip. I hope it gives you some answers to your questions otherwise please comeback to me. Lee

Smash defense can be done with neutral grip, when shuttlecock passed me to on my right rear corner, then you may use the grip too. Fast slice drop shot from your right rear corner to opponent cross court also this grip can be used. But if you take shot in front of your body then this grip is not right to use in my personal view. around the handle in the perfect way - how would it look? In fact, if you make another video, I think it would be really helpful to actually use another person, and just walk them though every single exact step to acquire each of the different grips. Does this make sense? Thank you so much - your videos are so helpful! Adam

Hi Lee, I have been enjoying your videos a lot and have learned a lot and my game has improved as a result so thank you! Please would you confirm what grip I should use for fast drop shots (forehand) from the rear court?? Should it be the neutral grip like that used for clears, or should the racket be twisted in the palm 10-15 degrees, as you recommend in your tips for more powerful smashes video? Many thanks

It is a nice grip demonstration. I believe that without proper grip you can not improve your skill and just play a poor game. It helps me lots and I understood that I have to change the grip depending on the coming shuttle direction. My question is whenever I play double game if I have to take double grip (near the double control cap) all the time; if the double grip is good for front court, middle court and rear court skill without changing to single grip? Thanks coach Lee
@coachingbadminton12 жыл бұрын
When you play all your focus have to go to shuttlecock, opponent, and opponent court and his intention. It would be too much to change grip up and down from smash to net play. I would rather advise player not to hold grip too high or too low but about middle which allow both (control and power). Yes there is time to change grip to low when you are very late to the shuttlecock and need a little bit of length and you have time to change then you may grip very low(at the net when you are very late)

Normally the paion come from bad skill of backhand and forhand clear and smash. You should rest and recover first then do some training to make your arm stronger. After that learn the right skills of backhand clear, forehand clear and smash. Kind regards. Lee

It would be better to use bit havier racket if you would like to powerful shots. Too light racket does not give much power and I personally do like bit weighted racket. Try to use more wrist and also try to hit the shuttlecock more in front of your body. Your impact point may be above or behind your body and it will give much pressure to your elbow, you may also use much elbow to hit instead of wrist and that would also give pressure to your elbow. Hi Lee, is there anny kind of practice to get use to the changing grip?
@AdamEverettHamilton12 жыл бұрын
the racket to going directly to each grip (without using the neutral grip in between changes). I know that in actual game play, I should switch to and from different grips to the neutral grip, but I think for just getting the feel of each grip in the hand, it would be really helpful to be able to use each grip independently of the neutral grip. What I basically mean is - if you could take someone's flat hand, and place the racket in it in the exact place it should lie, and close their fingers

Hi Coach. Is it correct we need to hold a grip near to shaft (upper of handle grip) for net kill or net play and we need to hold more lower of handle grip for clear and smash. Some of friend say that, so i need to verify it from you. Even some world class player have their racket with grip cover up to their shaft. Hope you can understand my question. Yes thank you.. I tried to watch the two videos on grips. I guess the only thing I still could not work out is whether the actual action is to start the rotation of the racquet with the two fingers, let loose the grip, and when racquet has rotated to desired angle, then grip hard? It seems it is almost like throwing the racquet around inside the palm from one angle to another. Please correct me if I have misinterpreted this action.
