Thanks for the awesome video Thomas! I have few questions: 1. Do you change bevel grip to thumb on the side grip when playing deep backhand cross drop? It is easier to slice that way when you are rally late. 2. I found that using bevel grip while serving let you use rotation of arm so you can do safe "flicks" to the baseline. (Is it a good idea to do this? I think almost all pros serve with bevel with low backhand serve ) 3. Is it good to change grip on forehand similarly, like rotating by 20-40 degrees to play late cross drops? I think advanced players can see that you adjusted the grip but it is hard to play cross drops when you are late into the shot.

Hey, thanks for watching 🤩 1: Yes if you are way way down under pressure i would change to the thumb being on the side, but still try to rotate the forearm a bit to generate more quick power to the shot. 2: I actually have more of a thumb grip, but almost in between the 2 grips. So when i push and rotate in the forearm i also rotate the grip inside of my hand to end up with the thumb grip. This way i can generate even more power. I use the same technique for the doubles defense shots. 3: Yes the same goes in the forehand, you change the grip to be in the best possible and most natural position. It is really tricky because you use SO many different variations on the 4 basiv grips, Forehand, thumb, bevel and panhandle (hammer) 😉

Bevel grip has been my favourite grip position so far, I can serve with incredible slice speed, smash easily and slice it sometime to do deception, and do all type of backhands all at once with barely changing grip.

Backhand serve with a bevel grip? That's new to me. I've always served with a backhand thumb grip for both the backhand short and flick serve. I'll be trying that in training, thanks.
@jaisuperawesome4 жыл бұрын
I think thumb grip is already correct as I've learned. The bevel grip is only use for backhand clear/drop. This guy has taught so many weird techniques
@tars32494 жыл бұрын
@@jaisuperawesome idk, I tried it on some test swings at home for backhand serve. It does free up some wrist movement and is much easier to make effortless flick serves. I think a lot of singles players serve with this grip as the serve from a lower more relaxed position. If you serve move upright and almost have the rack straight across the thumb grip might suit you better I think. Nonetheless until I try it in practice I cannot say for sure how it will feel.
@BadmintonFamly4 жыл бұрын
Agree the thumb can be used in the serve, i use a mix between the 2 grips so when i push with the finger power i rotate to the thumb grip to generate more power💪🏻
@spongebobsp1003 жыл бұрын
@@BadmintonFamly makes sense. lets say you want to a deceptive flick serve or slice to place. A thumb grip would make it more obvious and requires more movement than bevel. thanks!

Except for the backhand defensive shots I almost always use a thumb grip, is that wrong? I prefer using thick grips which makes the handle completely round shaped probably that is why I could never differentiate between a thumb grip and a bevel grip. You elucidated everything very nicely as usual, I will try to implement them in my game 😊☺️

@UC51Nm4fBjfLgDkaB6WzmjaA Maybe that is why my backhand returns to the smashes never reach the baseline, today I will try to use bevel grip, lets see what happens 🤞 Thanks 👍

Another excellent and informative video, great work well done! I have a question: What is the purpose in no 5 of playing that shot to the deadzone as a sliced shot? Deception? Because the spin/wobble of the shuttle is long gone once it passes the net.
@BadmintonFamly4 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for that. About shot 5 it is easier to control the curve of the shot as you control in the shot. You can also se that the curve of the shuttle goes just a bit downwards when going over the net, which should put more pressure on the opponents. Of course the slice is better closer to the net so the shuttle spins a bit, but from the deadzone this technique is just really nice and "easy" to do 😎

I'm a little confused. Some channels say this is for the double defense, and others say that is the thumb grip. Can you please help me out? Thanks.
@BadmintonFamly2 жыл бұрын
Both are okay to use, I actually start with bevel then use finger power rotating a bit into the thumb grip 😎
@Alexis-qs4mc4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video !! Super like always🙏. I just had a question. When the shuttle is near the body(back court and backhand side), you need more flexibility in your wrist in order to tale the shuttle. But in my opinion, the bevel grip takes a bit of flexibility off. Should i either take a step on the side in order to gain that missing flexibility or change the grip? Thanks😁😁
@BadmintonFamly4 жыл бұрын
Hey, i would prefer to move a bit "away" from the shuttle to have more space to do the shot. BUT if you are to take it closer to the body, then yea you need to change the grip a bit in order for you to flex properly ☺️

Everyone polled for forehand grip and you did bevel hmm weird? Hey i have a question the panhand grip and hammer grip are both different. In panhand grip we have to rotate the bevel grip counter clockwise can be used in cross court backhand drop shots. And about the hammer grip it is used for hard smashes we hold the grip as like a hammer.
