Ver 2.0 addon is coming this month, should perform way better than 1.0

Excited for it!

Have you tried using a "track to" or "damped track" constraint on the all planes and set them to always face the camera?

How did you not see the"camera update" button in the addon panel?
@davidmcsween2 ай бұрын
Oh it wasn't working fir hou. An old version had addon naming errors. Try a newer build and check the read me

@@davidmcsween I have the newest version but I didn't see that in the readme. Pretty odd that I would have to fix it myself tho.

@@baeac It may have been fixed lately. I alerted the creator to the issue on the github page. There are many cool updates for it already some are my suggestions ;-)

I would like to see an example of G-Splatting in Blender for ArchVis environments (like a city park)? Have you seen the recent video by '2 Minute Papers'? Nvidia have publicly released an algorithm that is part G-Splatting and part Meshing....
@baeac2 ай бұрын
I haven't but that sounds interesting!

I don't get it. What is the usecase for this? You can only get a mediocore render of an object from a very specific angle. Would be easier to just photograph it and import it as a plane.
@pedroantonio50312 ай бұрын
You can represent in Gaussians with MBs what you would need GBs to represent with mesh

Backgrounds for ArchVis. G-Splatting is very lightweight and performant. If you were doing an ArchVis animation of a town square the buildings etc in the background could be G-Splatting. Much easier than trying to model the environment or trying to use a Google Earth model.

It is for pre viz, just imagine a director can have his movie set as a guassian splat in blender, he can easily use this to find new ideas to shoot the scene and how best to integrate the actual vfx elements with the shot

Maybe make them emit light for vfx shots

Cool! I'm curious, have you used Gaussian splats for photogrammetry at all? Are there any benefits to be had combining the two? It's programs that do so?
@baeac2 ай бұрын
Do you mean creating a mesh from gaussian splats? Or just putting them both in the same scene? I have used gaussian splats for bigger objects/rooms and that works great for it but it kinda falls apart with smaller objects. I also like how photogrammetry with meshes lets you mask the object so you can have a full mesh with no holes. I guess combining those masked meshes in a gaussian splat environment would be the best of both worlds but I haven't tried that yet.

I found when testing it - it to be very slow
@baeac2 ай бұрын
For me it was pretty fast! Might be due to your pc specs.

after effects has a plugin that renders gauss in real time and is better than in a blender
