Basically Bael or Aegle marmelos Unripe fruit pulp is good for colitis and Crohn's to stop bloody diarrhea, has ulcer Healing and anti inflammatory properties. Many people consume Bael sherbet, which is made from Ripe fruits, which is good for constipation not for diarrhea. Many people consume bael ( Bel or Bilva) jam or capsules or tablets or other preparations in the market, which are made from either Ripe fruit pulp ( sherbet,Jams, chutneys, or tablets capsules by many ) or sometimes even from bael leaves or bark. They are not recommended for Crohns or colitis. Bael leaves and bark is laxative. Ripe fruit pulp is mild laxative. Unripe fruit pulp is recommended. Planet Ayurveda Bael Powder or Aegle Plan capsules are made from Unripe fruit pulp extracts having active healing constituents like Marmelosin and Aegelin. Most of the bael tablets or capsules or powders in the market are made up of Bael leaves. For Crohns and colitis - You need Bael Giri or Bael Fruit Pulp powder. ( Dried) and that too of Unripe fruit and not Ripe fruit. Aegle Plan is dry Bael pulp extract made from Unripe fruit pulp. So that's ok for Crohn’s and colitis. Bael bark, bael Leaves are not for colitis or crohns.

If you have colitis, crohns and difficultly in evacuation and constipated, then you can have Unripe fruit pulp powder or Belgiri powder with the sherbet in small quantity. Bael leaves should be consumed only for diabetes and Jaundice and not in crohns or colitis.
