Love the DIY options. Hopefully there are more demos of these in action.

One Serge panel can typically do more than a whole large Eurorack case. Almost every module can be an oscillator or a filter or a cv processor as well as whatever it does. A panel might have one or two VCOs but be capable of ten voices from the other modules.

Love Serge paper face synths, and these Prism Circuits panels, look and sound wonderful. $5,400 is not in my budget, or I would seriously consider getting this. I was fortunate, to acquire a two panel kit, from another maker, which I assembled for less than $1000. So I could get in on the fun, with my meager resources 🙂 In a Serge synth, the layout, the banana jacks, and the variety of functions/sounds, are a pure joy to explore. I say Serge for the win, in whatever way you can get it 🎶⚡🔥⚡🎶

@@TheScreamingFrog916 hey just curious who was the person you got the kit from?

@ my friend (Not giving name to respect his privacy). If you were wondering, he doesn’t have any more kits. If you have another question for him, I will pass it along. Have a great day.

Make your own design, budget, low cost synth for those who can’t afford Buchla but want to be involved with this sort of thing. Yes, Serge had great ideas. All that talk followed up by a hesitation to give the price that exceeds Buchla systems. 😂

You can build the panel yourself with PCBs from Prism and its far cheaper than buying them pre-built, so there is still a way to do it on a reasonable budget. I just built one panel as a beginner to synth DIY and it only took a few weeks to do.

If Serge's name was Tcherepnin, doesn't that mean it should be pronounced "Sergey", and not "Surge"? I thought it was named after someone French because of how people said it, but that's a Russian name. 🤔 Anyway, I quite like banana jack systems, but these ready-made systems seem a bit overpriced, though the DIY PCB's aren't too bad. Then again, if you want to do it DIY, it's possible to do it entirely DIY and skip the ready-made PCB's too.

Serge is ethnically Russian and Chinese, but was born and raised in France; which is why he uses the French pronunciation of his name.

@@EphemeralTao Ah, thanks for the info. I was wondering about it since you'd normally not transliterate Sergey as Serge from Russian. From Ukrainian or Belarusian, I have seen word final y-sounds dropped from transliterations, but not from Russian, so now that I know he came via France it all makes sense.

great, another synth diy company who doesn't provide schematics... every diy project requires a little debugging...
