Thank you for showing how to corn grease the Bafang. Hadn't seen Sondors rockstar until your vid. I looked and it is $3500, and it has an aluminum frame and weighs 80lbs and has a 750 watt motor. Is this the M600 bafang? You have the bafang M620. I have been considering the Luna Z1 or the X2, both carbon fiber. The Z1 comes with Bafang Ultra M620, the X2 comes with Bafang M600, however is upgradeable to V2 Ludricous Controller which puts out 2500watts versus 750watts. Considering your experience with the bafang motor which of these two would you pick?
@SimplePleasuresMTB Жыл бұрын
Personally I’d pick the X2, but never personally rode one. The Sondors Rockstar is equipped with the m620 750w motor. It’s heavy, it comes with less than desirable components, customer service is hit or miss. The Luna X2 would be what I’d pick between the 3 choices, I only have the Rockstar because it was given to me to test out and show what it could be capable of. It’s definitely capable with upgrades and I honestly love it. But I’m ready for something a bit lighter. Thanks for watching 🤙🏻
@kcretired1032 Жыл бұрын
@@SimplePleasuresMTB Thank you, the X2 with the V2 Ludricous Controller upgrade for the same price as the Z1, also the X2 with the bafang M600 will except 48V, 52V and 72V batteries. Apprecitate your all your work, help, and sharing.

@@kcretired1032 yeah I rode with a guy that had the X2 and he put the ZEB fork and a few other goods on it and it had the same range as the Rockstar at a lighter weight package. The X1 needs more range, the Z1 has some cheaper suspension (DNM) on it. I’d go with the X2🤙🏻

@@SimplePleasuresMTB Thank you, just got back from TREK store, test rode a RAIL, wow pedal assist was magic, first time. The cheapest RAIL aluminum frame $5k, with carbon frame $7k, ouch. Trek does not sell bikes with Throttles, Only PAS pedal assist. @@kcretired1032 Trek rail is a great bike, I have a Trek downhill bike and Trek makes some of the best. But yes, you are going to pay big time😎If I could afford it, I’d get the Rail, couple friends have them and they are great, but max speed is 20 mph on the Trek, the Luna has more power and range, costs a lot less and with some upgrades will be more bang for your buck. If money was no object I’d go Trek, but best bang for the Buck the Luna is awesome. Both are great

Hi would you answer what is the problem with the wheels on the elite sondors bikes. You have extra what are they hubs you called them. Did you get replacement wheels from sondors? I’m scared to buy the elite LX , or Cruiser because I keep seeing people have bearings go bad or the wheel locks up. Should I be worried should I trust these are well made and built to last. What would you suggest one do to prevent the wheels going bad?
@SimplePleasuresMTB2 жыл бұрын
The wheels on the LX and Cruiser are different from the Rockstar. They are wider I believe for the fat tires they are running. I’m not sure of the issues on those hubs…but it could be the same heavily greased freehub pawls sticking like we’ve seen on the Rockstar’s. Everyone has had different experiences, good and bad. I really have no experience on those LX or Cruisers though.

Thanks for the vid! Reusable missing links by KMC are the shiz. Plus you don't need that link separator or to position chain link in top position and brake pedal combo to secure. Also not supposed to reuse those missing links that require the tool. Chain making noise it's under lubricated/nasty and if it's been going on long prob worn which could mean the infamous and incorrectly labeled "stretch". Which slowly ruins your cassette leading to chain skip and sad teeth.

I've just bought a bike with this very same motor. I was previously riding a 20 inch fat tire folding bike with 750 watt Bafang hub motor with 48 volt 16ah battery. There is a steep hill (tarmacked road) which I regularly ride up. The old bike gets me up it comfortably at 14 mph in level 3. The new bike with this 1000 watt mid drive and 48 volt 17.5 ah battery, only manages to get me up it at 12 mph in level 5 in sport mode, while putting in quite a bit of effort pedalling! I find the range of this bike also only around 18 miles whilst riding in only low pedal assist modes, when I can get around 30 miles out of the old bike. Do I have a problem here? I find it hard to believe that the new bike is so bad. The 750 watt hub motor is leaving the new bike for dead. I'm so disappointed!
@SimplePleasuresMTB2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure, I do know that depending on where the motor came from some are better than others (from what I’ve read on the forums) it could have a weak battery maybe?

Probably cheaper to just buy a wheel with e-bike hub already installed, rather than trying to fit a new hub into an old wheel.

A super boost hub with 36, 13 gauge spokes and an internal rim width of 40mm…I kinda want to retain that but I got that other wheel on standby. So far my wheel is holding up fine. If the ratchet ring is removable, then you can just drop in the $50 Bear Pawls free hub body and your wheel is good as new.
