This is such a great interview, and a great lil mind bleach after watching him in JJ. He was amazing and stole the show but whew, Kilgrave is a too-real nightmare made flesh. His advice about acting is also spot on.

David Tennant is always a joy to watch, and he was fantastic as the Purple Man. Easily one of the MCU's best-ever villains. Right up there with D'Onofrio's Kingpin. Tennant nailed it.

Gracepoint was pretty bad- but I think the problem was actually with the script. They didn’t localize it very well, so it had weird bits that made sense in the UK (like when Ellie called Hardy out for only making his own tea), but not the US. Frankly, my biggest issue was that American cops carry firearms and having Hardy/Carver continuing to carry a loaded gun when he knows that he REALLY shouldn’t turns the character from a tragic and pitiable person to an arrogant bastard putting his career over the safety of the public. It ruined his character completely.

It was also the actors that were worse than terrible. The "acting" from the family in the first episode when the police confront them to say their son was dead was unwatchable at best.

Sometimes I think having to frame everything in a positive light even when an artist (and possibly many others) may think a project or performance really tanked has to feel like a second job. I think Gracepoint was pretty bad as well, for many of the reasons other commenters posted, even though I think David Tennant is a fantastically talented actor. I was honestly embarrassed for him to be in Gracepoint. The only other time I felt that way about something I have seen him in was Blackpool - I almost felt like I needed to apologize to the cast for being in something that bad! :/ I briefly worked in theater and remember it being in the performers' contracts that they couldn't "say bad things" (not phrased that way in the contract of course) about the production. That was an eye opener for me. Must be hard having to act even when you're not acting! On the flipside, I hope Marvel decides to use their superpowers to resurrect Kilgrave with David in the part at some point. 👍

I still liked Blackpool. It's nothing like his Hamlet or Richard II, but it's fun.

I’ve only ever seen him in Jessica Jones and that was so frightening that he gives me the creeps seeing him on KZbin. I guess that means he’s a fantastic actor.

I don’t think I’d be able to take Kilgrave quite as seriously if he was purple

Grace point is awful! Not because of him but the American actors were terrible.

Gracepoint was not as good as Broadchurch. I didn't like most of the cast. I thought it was poorly cast.

nice scottish accent he has. But Ian Stewart and Brian Cox, the geologist and the physicist who have made science programs have the loveliest scottish accents ever, from a non-british perspective

In my opinion, Gracepoint was too smooth. Or, when it wasn't it was too much "in your face", like placatively showing you things, instead of "by the way". I didn't feel as close as with broadchurch. But in the end, you never really know what's gonna be succsessful, and what not.

Gracepoint was terrible compared to Broardchurch. I find it's hard to watch him without an accent too.

Reaaaaally awful!! His Scottish comes out in words like K*ller, which he says a thousand times per minute in a show like that, which becomes reeeeeeeaaally distracting
