+Kevin Echeverria That's because who we saw in season one of Daredevil wasn't Kingpin, it was the man who /becomes/ Kingpin. Season 1 was as much of Kingpin's origin as it was Daredevil's. Kingpin is cold, calculating, always in check. He gets there due to time in prison. At the end of Season 1 he was still just Wilson Fisk. If we see him again (which I'm sure we will, assuming DD gets a season 3 and beyond), he'll be less of a child and more of, well, a Kingpin.

So true. I disliked Krysten Ritter's perfomance and some of the other actor's in the show, like that annoying brother & sister neighbour. Only David Tennant's Kilgrave kept this show interesting. And after Luke Cage (which nosedived in plot and quality half-way through the season after another great villain "left"), my faith in Marvel's ability to keep their Netflix shows interesting is wavering. I'll have to wait and see which side of the coin Ironfist falls.
@TheMrKlump8 жыл бұрын
I didn't dislike Krysten Ritter but I don't think she's as strong of a lead as Charlie Cox or Mike Colter. And I was not a big fan of Luke Cage, like the entire thing. Clearly my least favorite of the 3 marvel netflix shows.

TheMrKlump I found it hard to root for JJ (even though I really wanted to) because of how KR portrayed her: sulky, selfish, unsympathetic. So I worry for a JJ S2 without Mr Purple. LC was enjoyable enough for me until Cottonmouth gave way for Diamondback (my least favourite Marvel villain thus far.) I really hope they nail Iron Fist and Punisher.

- He's hot. - He wants to be with Jessica and not to hurt her. - He's kind of romantic when you think about it. - He's hot. - He never really murdered anyone in flesh, he made them kill themselves which kind of makes him seem less like a murderer. - Um... did I say he's hot yet? xD
@BlueyMcPhluey9 жыл бұрын
jmsolano0516 are you sure you watched the show? Sure he had a messy childhood so it makes sense to have passing moments of sympathy but that doesn't excuse what he did - repeatedly and without remorse, the worst things a person can do. I've never seen a more accurate portrayal of a manipulating rapist in media and it really scares me to see people defend him in the same way that people like him are defended in the real world.
@floantonia86709 жыл бұрын
+carolinestories That's why Kilgrave is honestly the most terrifying villain I have ever encountered. They do such an apt job of showing how the mind of an abuser works and how manipulative they can be that at times even the audience is kept from hating him completely. A vicious murderer and rapist is portrayed as charming and passionate so much so that the audience at times will question his guilt. This is what abusers do, they manipulate those around them until even the victim will question the reality of their own suffering. Kilgrave is terrifying because he is real, he exists, he is the reality of an abusive man.
@floantonia86709 жыл бұрын
+carolinestories And abusers very rarely accept or acknowledge the full extent of the pain they have caused. They manage to find in their mind an excuse and a reason for their actions because they have spent their life feeling entitled. Men that abuse women feel entitled to the body and attention of their victims, when they are denied these things their anger and frustration is not seen as their fault. They truly do believe the blame lies with the victim. Kilgraves entire character is based around entitlement, in a way his mind control seems to just be a metaphor for male entitlement. He's a very chilling kind of evil.

What Seth commented on about if Killgrave feels bad about using his power is even covered pretty extensively in the show. Killgrave has a whole scene lashing out at Jessica about how carefully he needs to words things because he doesn't always know if they're doing it because he willed them to, or they are choosing to. Which is the whole crux of the second half of the season.

+Richard Strong Dont understand why, too. First i thought that he wants nothing to do with his powers in the surroundings of Jessica, but then he uses mind control against his servants.
@ragnar979 жыл бұрын
Serry Ye but in his mind the servants were only a way to keep her with him long enough for her to fall in love not something permanent. The house was, he planned to live with her in it. He didn't mind using powers to affect the situation in the present but his long term plans were to live with jessica without powers or things obtained with them (thought he used his powers to get the money for the house but I guess that's a way to show his twisted reasoning). I'm guessing that's the reason why. I may be wrong though, it's just speculation.
@SweetPotBun9 жыл бұрын
+ragnar97 But Killgrave knew all along that his powers weren't affecting Jessica... So it leads me to kind of believe that he did it because he had no other choice, using the "I won't use my powers on you" as an excuse for hiding that he couldn't control her anymore (?)

+Stephanie G I've known Tennant as the Doctor only since this year, so until this January he was only Barty Crouch Jr for me.. So when I saw him playing Doctor who, for the entire second season I felt that something was a little bit wrong, I wasn't recognizing him! He was too kind, in my imagination he still was a villain. I was waiting the same snake mouth thing as you! So when I saw him playing Kilgrave I was almost relief :D

What what i know of sociopaths (having encountered a couple in my personal life), Mr. Tennant appears to be bang on correct in his portrayal of one. Not as easy to achieve as one might think.
