'filmmaking... a personal delineation of borders.' this is so genius omg. Since the beginning of time, storytelling has evolved together with the medium. Yet great storytellers know, by personal experience, given the limited resources for such dimensions for the medium of their time, must know how to scope and make decisions on which to highlight and which needs to be trivialized.

Herzog is probably one of the best filmmakers of al-time because of his movies aren't only recognized in Germany, they're also recognized around the world. Furthermore, he's known by hiring, and working constantly with Klaus Kinski, the famous actor with whom he made 5 movies however, both of them were about to kill each other. In fact, while shooting Aguirre the wrath of God, Herzog pulled Kinski a gun because he was going to leave the movie's set.

technical things are boring! I did a film 1 year diploma with the intention of going on to doing a degree but realised how it was all about the industry & technical aspects.. got very boring and disillusioned so didnt do that. His film school sounds great though... whats it called?

I always wanted to go to his Rogue Film school, but I suspect he won't run it anymore because he teaches some mass corporate thing online now. But I finally worked on my film to submit for entry into the class. i thought I might get in just because my father looked a lot like him. LOL kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXi6q3qah7GBhcU

He says not to collaborate too much with the same people. Really? Tell that to Steven Spielberg who has almost exclusively used John Williams to provide the music for most of his films. Or tell that to J.J. Abrams who collaborates with a very closely knit group of film makers.
4 жыл бұрын
I think he's trying to say to stay open to new work experiences with different people and to stay out of your confort zone, mainly in terms of expectations and approach to certain areas (Herzog mentions acting, cinematography) when directing.
