The lack of artist development along with streaming has messed things up.

@UnbiasedSports the quality of Mainstream hip hop and R&B is trash at the moment. There are only a few in this era mainstream wise that are hitting. When labels started, only caring about singles instead of developing artist into superstars that's when you got the one hit wonders and the mediocre shit that's out now. There's plenty of dope talent out there but alot eithier don't make hits or aren't gettin pushed by the Machine.

Bruh…this man’s contribution to the musical landscape may possibly be unmeasurable..we need to do better at heralding the individuals that we would write biblical like lore about years after our existence..especially if we are able to see the stats while we are here..Sean Garrett you are appreciated!💪🏾💪🏾

Did Sean Garrett do a Drink Champs yet? Would love to hear more about his stories as a songwriter and hitmaker.

Black music is the soundtrack to black moments. With the changes in the economics and family structure, I dont think black folks are making moments together like they used to
@zayyteslaКүн бұрын
Nah we are it’s just not as structured as back then music is made and consumed differently then even just 10 years ago.
@ka92024 күн бұрын
The grind was harder back then, I agree, but today's artists have to cut through all the noise on the net. the attention economy is whole new ballgame that even the regulators are still trying to figure out and find themselves having to keep up because things move so quick nowadays.
@zayyteslaКүн бұрын
Yeah we don’t have too necessarily make hits now youre image as an artist plus a couple songs will get it done nowadays fr fr.

Is this Nikka esso interviewing himself ?
@thekellyeloshow7 күн бұрын
For real I’m starting not to like this show because of him it’s like he’s got a inject himself into everything. I think Esso should do a artist. Spotlight show like Ray Daniels does where it is essentially a class. Then he can talk all you want because he’s basically teaching from his experiences.

He needs to learn to stop interrupting and shut up

The issue is streaming has fucked up what’s a hit record. The hit records of this year will be forgotten next year. The gay dude Lil Nas X had that old town road record that won him a grammy and streamed like crazy. Who is playing that record today? It’s even worse on the hip hop and R&B side of things right now. I remember being. kid and Yeah was playing a year and a half after they dropped it on radio. Hit records used to stay in radio rotation for a long ass time before getting dropped. Streaming has fucked up what’s a hit and what’s not a hit.

How do you get signed as a writer
@TurnTheStoveOnBlazeКүн бұрын
You really shouldn't want to. You're only getting paid from royalties. Those royalties will already be small from being signed to a smaller label (like Sean Garrett's) who is signed to a bigger label (Sony, Universal or Warner).

Most of them have the same rap patterns and cadence. The lyrics don't flow with the beat at all anymore. It's more like slam poetry than hip Hop.
