Yes, yes, Luka is the first bilingual vocaloid, speaking japanese and english. However, her voice provider's first language is japanese. Thus Luka has an accent when she sings in english that sometimes make her hard to understand and her voicebank has a lot of problems. She's still number one in english in japanese vocaloids. Oliver, like Big Al, Sweet Ann, Prima, Tonio, etc is an english vocaloid. His english sounds a lot clearer and has less defaults than Luka's.

Yes and no, I only drew the sketch-like art for it! BaggageLizard requested me to draw Oliver and a love interest, but never specified an existing VOCALOID for me to draw, so I just went with what felt right to me. The bird on the shoulder is actually a representation of James, Oliver's official pet. I thought it'd be a nice cameo and a way to indicate that time has passed and spring is nearing, since birds are moving back into the country. If you look close you can see the sculptures melting...

Just look into things a little before correcting someone or you look a little silly ^^; .The vocaloid wiki is pretty accurate with the release dates and creation processes of each of them and Oliver's demos were all English. The reason he's so good at Japanese and for that matter so are the Spanish ones is that the Japanese sound system is much more simple so our voice banks cover them much easier than they cover ours ^^ because of this a lot of people use Oliver for Japanese songs.

Take it from who has spent 2 years debunking Vocaloid myths, the number of anime fans who barely know what anime is is crazy, so your friend could indeed be wrong. Became a member of a Vocaloid community like vocaloidism, Vocaloid Otaku or even the Vocaloid wikia (it counts!), you learn more this way, people set you right a lot faster. Vocaloids nerds tend to be more reliable then general anime nerds.

+stephanie sagastizabal It's a singing synthesizer (singing simulation in a easier way.) You can buy a Vocaloid voice, input syllabes and letters and the program sings. It's much harder than it sounds actually, there's many options and settings to make the words sound as you want them to be. But for beginners it's recommended to use UTAU first, it's a free program that works almost like Vocaloid. In fact some current Vocaloids were once UTAUloids, like GUMI Megpoid. So the programs both are equally amazing and one costs 400 dollars and the other nothing.
