My father was issued a white 1964 122 wagon as a company car. One night coming home from a company party at the World’s Fair (my dad and my mom ran the Swedish restaurant), he and my mom were up front and a couple of company execs were in the back when the car hit a construction beam in the road and rolled three times. Everyone walked away. He was promptly issued a new, identical model to replace it. Since the World’s Fair only ran for two years, we only had the Volvos for ‘64 and ‘65. One cool thing ws that the cars carried Port Authority license plates in addition to the NY plates which meant it could be driven onto the ramp at JFK. I have a soft spot for these Amazons (as they were known outside the US). It’s great to see yours in such good shape!

I do have a K&N filter in the stock airbox, DO88 charge piping and a stainless turbo back (with sports cat and mufflers/reso). It was only when I got the downpipe (cat back already in place) that the exhaust started to be more balanced against the intake sound. I hope to get a DO88 intake pipe and intercooler soon, might make a bit more intake sound then :)

This thing is freaking cool man! I have a turbo whiteblock 04 motor in a 98 T5 with fbo, coilovers, water methanol, etc.. made 350whp and over 400ft lbs... And I have a 1990 244gl with a cammed LS, manual Nissan trans, ford 8.8 rear with 3.73, ipd sport springs, bne panhard bar etc.. has 1 7/8 longtube headers with tbss and 92mm tb so it's loud... I love inline 5s and V8 sounds.. the itb definitely make some nice sound with the 5 cyl.. like a mini v10 or V12 lol... I'd love a 140 or even 160 to put my LS drivetrain in. The 240 is solid but a 4dr sedan wasn't my first choice. It does look pretty cool with black n silver two tone and BBS SR wheels on it, also had some Vette salad shooter 16x9.5 on it. But again very cool!! I see you have a mk2 vw in there as well. My buddy has a 93 corrado g60 in yellow been sitting in his garage for like 15 years.

nice video ,i see your in the V category, Volvo and Volkswagen ,nice work on the 122 wagon tough to find any kind of wagon,I been owning/driving these over 40 yrs and over a million miles over 4 to 5- 240's and love them and there is nothing better in winter for heat, and have had heated seats since 1981 driver seat was standard passenger seat was optional, girls like it on the bunns, LOL, nice work on the car, when you go to do the rest of the drop build and cut up the rear floor ,if can retro fit the factory hydraulic engine mounts , you'll find as much as 15-20% NVH reduction in the cabin, it is a huge difference, you can buy a one sided adhesive backed insulation for the underside of the hood , cut to shape and its peel and stick, that alone cuts your NVH another 6.5 decibels , which is really noticeable , one trick i learned from a car builder is spraying under coating inside your doors, just a thin coat and it reduces the natural resonance transmitted from the road through the chassis, i did this on my 89 240 DL and it works pretty good, sweet ride, you can also get cams for that engine that'll give another10-15 bhp, 👍

I really enjoyed the video. I know your car intimately. My 1966 wagon is also in the California Vit color with a green interior. It was in very rough condition when I bought it. I liked the ideas that you had for the brakes. Do you have the front on air bags as well? I have a Volvo 850 with a turbo. The car had low miles on it when a tree came down on it in a wind storm. I was considering the idea of saving the motor, ECU and wiring harness for a possible swap. The 1966 wagon had quite a bit of rust and a rod thrown through the side of the block so I decided that this one would be the modified Amazon. For good, inexpensive disk brakes, I used the stock front disk setup and replaced the stock Girling calipers with Wilwood calipers. Wilwood make a caliper that is a duplicate of the original calipers and they weigh about 40% of the cast iron originals. I used the largest calipers from this Wilwood series for the front calipers. For the rear brakes, i took a set of the front disks and put them on the drum brake hubs. I then used a slightly smaller size of the same Wilwoods on the back with very simple brackets. I used a Wilwood clutch master cylinder and a Wilwood dual chamber brake master cylinder. For the emergency brake, I came up with Wilwood remote mount brake master cylinder that looks just like the clutch master cylinder. It has the brake bleed off valve, but there is no fluid reservoir on it. I ran the rear brake line through this cylinder and on to the rear calipers. This brake cylinder uses the main brake master cylinder as the fluid reservoir. I can step on the brake, pull up the brake handle. This adds a bit more pressure to the rear calipers and then I set the E-brake handle which holds the pressure in the calipers. I mounted this remote cylinder under the car and connected it to the stock Amazon E-brake handle. I also used a modified VW Vanagon rack and pinion steering in the car. I have a built ALH VW TDI that puts out about 190 hp and a Toyota W-59 OD five speed transmission that will be going in next. I will use the stock rearend for know, but I just picked up a 2002 BMW and I am going to see if I can make the IRS work in the Amazon. My wagon is also a 1966 Herrgård vagn (kombi in Sweden or station wagon in NA). This will be the hotrodded Amazon. I also have a 1966 coupe with a built B20, M41 OD trans, and IpD suspension. There is also completely stock 1969 wagon with the B20 and automatic that will get some attention in good time. Sorry for going on so long here. I wanted to share some ideas to get other peoples juices flowing a bit. Again, nice job on the video and I look forward to seeing your future progress.
