I feel like new world is on a good spot right now. Combat is definitely peak for any mmo. There is a lot to do in end game now and not so easy to get 725 for a casual player.

Sorry, but you are wrong about not easy to get 725 for a casual player. It is WAY TOO EASY in my opinion. I'm a casual player and just finished a full 725 suit with EXACTLY the perks I want on each piece. That takes a little work in the Gorgon Hive, but entirely doable. As far as the easy part, just do some non-PvP stuff and you get 35+ doubloons for each daily quest (or log in, look for "x CK" in chat and do the chest run with others for 700 doubloons, you can do this every 13-14 hours. In addition to the doubloons, you get lots of gold, material, and 2-3 DOZEN high level pieces of gear) then go to a town and spend 35 doubloons for a crate (up to 3 per day) and you can get chances for up to 725 gear. Also, 725 armor is only like 1-1.5% better than 700 GS items. That's been verified. Now the 725 weapons are 3% better than 700 ... but again, you can get a shot at those in the 3 daily chests, not to mention you can upgrade your 700 GS artifact by sneaking into the PvP zone and looting a chest once a week for a coconut. Easy.

Just follow the zero for 30 minutes and you will get 700 dabloons (assuming you don't want to do a solo quest that takesc15 minutes for 35) and then return to town and spend 30 davloons once a day, in town at the well, and you get 3 chances for 725 gear. Log out. Log in next take and get 3 more chests. Log out in 2 minutes and repeat. That 1 CK zero will get you 23 days worth of chances. So simple even a person who has 30 minutes on the weekend and 2 minutesva day can do it. Doesn't get any more casual than that.

I played New World on release and stopped during the last DLC and back for Aeternum and there's a few key points I have based off way too many hours of ESO / Runescape and minor amount of WOW. Good Points: 1. New World is extremely new player friendly. With not that many buffs/perks, abilities, and passives it is very good for those looking to play an MMO but are overwhelmed at a first look of ESO and WOW. 2. Combat is satisfying, great third person view point allowing for the feeling of being truly immersive vs other MMO's blown out 3rd person borderline top down viewpoints. (Yes i know you can zoom in, in those games but let's be honest...you don't/disadvantage if you do). 3. Resource gathering / crafting is very satisfying and enjoyable. 4. Graphics are nice, game looks good overall with each zone being different style an approach 5. Bout time i can swin 6. Bout time i can view each towns chest and pull from it. Bad Points: 1. No horizontal builds. BIS is Hoplite gear. Enchanted Ward, Health, Refreshing or Weapon Perk (if at max Refresh). Would be nice to have a reason to go a different approach in PVE but there isn't a better option. Only time I would even consider something different is if I was running an M3 with a lot of Fire Dmg maybe some Fire Protection gear...maybe. PVP same concept unless you run some 1 shot ability build...only change would be all shirking heals if you are tanky/bruiser. 2. Mutations. Granted, i love mutated dungeons. You know what I hate? Limited amount to run per week + only 3 a week. Just put every dungeon up or HALF and rotate every other week and I know they plan on doing this, but keep all mutations the same for all dungeons in that cycle and rotate mutation combo's every week or other. 3. Yes I can see and pull what's in a chest of each town but let me search something and have it tell me what town it is in. (I use an excel sheet for now) 4. End game variety. Going to pull from ESO here and the Mutation dungeons. But instead of Just Worm Raid and just Gorgons. Have Tiers. Normal, Hard Mode, Vet Hard Mode or Mutations. With increased loot chance or whatever if completed. 5. Stop halting progress. This game will be a log on once a week game with this. Let me get rewards from Gorgons every time I complete it. Let me craft whatever I want however many times I want. Let me progress at my pace and make me want to login. My server is dead Wednesday-Monday. Everyone comes Tuesday runs Gorgons, checks the dungeons, grabs their Wishing Well Weekly's, and dips. Who cares if someone gets BIS gear in a week farming the trials? Those are the people who are going to keep playing the game, make new builds, make new characters, etc. Overlal I enjoy the game, love the visuals and the crafting. Just I have to set myself small goals daily like, stand at this boss all day and farm this. To give myself a reason to login. Really dislike the "weekly cap" crap. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

In the same boat, but I try to make friends, run with random people doing random things, especially those war/pve companies. this is my second week and I have secured a spot with 3 separate groups if I needed to run my first Gorgon. Its the easiest route for me (for gorgon), despite being an introvert. it usually starts with a "cool stache bro". so hope this helps!

The console only servers are essentially a contractual requirement from MS and Sony, because there has to be a non-crossplay alternative. People have been warning about this since day 1. Your only choice if you want to play group content is to restart on a crossplay server.

Helping your faction out, there is that to do in the game. Defend against invasions, do races, wars (if you get selected). Stop corrupted portals. There are a few things but the main one is helping out your faction I believe for the open world. Doing invasions for PvE or PvE quests to help the faction.

@@Ghost_of_Austria I would say it's got atleast 200-400hrs worth of solo gameplay currently (Plus much more if you do enjoy it). It is still updated every few months with new improvements. They'll be adding more solo activities as time goes on too and I'd say for a new beginner you'll have a great time for quite a while as they've made it more solo friendly since Aternum. The far far endgame still needs improvement but with the next season this should improve more and same for the one after that and so by the time you get to the other side of the game there will be much more to do.

Ironically, I didn’t know about this game until I watched the secret level episode. I’m on series x. Is it worth it to buy the game and start out as a new player? I’m concerned about the lack of players on servers. However, I am a big fan of single player campaigns so if there plenty of content for new players that’s fine to. Can specific servers be chosen and do any of you recommend any specific server which is most active at this point?

You won't have much issue with players on servers, just don't go with a low pop server from the get go. Most of the popular servers tend to stay that way, ones that start small tend to stay small. You can pick which server, in game it will tell you which are fresh start (highly recommended as that's where most players are these days) and what their population is like. A lot may say medium pop, don't really be concerned as they've been actively folding slower servers into larger ones to keep the population together and more active. My fiance plays on Series X and it's been really good since the Aeturnum update. Have fun!

Thanks Baggins for another insightful video. M3 becoming useless was a big mistake from AGS and I'm glad they're reviewing that move to make them worthwhile again. I'm surprised to see the "New Weapon" from the roadmap is only still "In Exploration", where I truly feel they should be pumping out new weapons every 6-9 months. Considering the flail was the last "new" weapon we received from the ROTA expansion from October 2023, come the New Year it would have been 15 months since we've seen a new weapon and to me that's absolutely unacceptable.

The biggest issue i see is getting better loot is locked behind the raid and most want you to have a token but eventually, pugs get desperate and take anyone lol as a healer i have attempted it a few times almost clearing it recently but the timer always runs out. This is the only MMO I've played that had timed raids, that's wild. Otherwise, you do chest runs, gamble with cursed chest, and enjoy the scenery. sigh

I owned the game at the original launch in 2021 and tried to play it 3 separate times, quitting round level 30 every time. I played aeterum update pretty heavily from start to about a week ago when i stopped. Got to max level with 705 GS, doing all content other than raids. I don't care about pvp. The roadmap looks good but there is not even remotely enough content to hold someone over till then on the PvE front. It questionable on whether I come back for season 7 and with no time frame on everything else who knows if it'll ever come out.

About Secret Level: The 'New World' ep is the only entry (in the first half of the season at least) that has any comedy. All other Secret Level eps so far have a very dreary story, and very uninspired animation styles. SL wants to be Death, Love & Robots, but DL&R is diverse in its content and styles. The NW ep is actually one of the better entries so far for SL (not saying much there), and doesn't deserve the backlash from the NW community that it's getting. I can tell most NW enjoyers went and watched that 1 ep and moved on, but that's now how you should consume that show 😂

You must be a new frog to hope AGS is competent... they arent and treat this game like a business model and have 0 passion or understanding about. Its one thing what you have in mind for your product, its another what the actual consumer makes out of it. Nothing really sticks (As seen by the decreasing player numbers) and the game still feels soulless. There is no line of progression that requires you to be full 725 to enter that type of content. The roadmap only looks packed, but there is no real content in it except fixes, reworks of old systems and QoL but actual content is missing.

Its in a good spot I have played since the Beta.. I did leave for a year.. However the PVP server is a bad idea it will just empty the normal servers for days at a time... which will make Expeditions harder to get to do... If they want to keep the current hype, they need to hurry out with a new expedition and weapon, and New zone ASAP the roadmap needs to move faster this game dies to fast to let it come slow.

Baggins, I'm going to offer you some insight because I feel like you're a very consistent NW creator. umm, there was a MASSIVE ball drop by the NW community. I'll explain. I played NW from beta, played in Fengrush's NW guild at launch and played religiously for about 9 months. I quit for what I feel like is the reason most people quit. The game was largely unplayable. And I don't mean bad, or boring, I literally mean NW systems were ass. The game was extremely laggy, and you'd get stutters, and all kinds of desynchronizations resulted in poor hit reg. Wars? Forget about it, for most it was just a blur of colors and lag for the first year. If you were a PVP guy at all, which I am, it was a trash experience. On a game that sold itself on being a large scale pvp game to boot. To the point where myself and basically everyone I knew (hundreds or people) quit and decided we'd come back if they ever fixed it. So I just got into the latest update to see if it got better and... Yeah it's totally fixed. Yeah apparently NW did a big server update on their systems some time ago, except NONE on the NW content creators made a huge fuss about it. Should have been all anyone was talking about for months considering how many people left for that exact reason, and no other reason. A lot of people would have came back then. I literally didn't know that happened and I was kind of looking out for it. People aren't quitting because of lack of endgame. NW, is a massive game and 99.99999999999999% of people who've played, have never even seen endgame. If anything, they could really stand to cut out/ streamline a bunch of shit at least in regards to crafting mats. I have 1300 hours in the game and I wouldn't even be able to do an M2 because I still don't have the gear yet coming back. You got to remember, mutations weren't even a thing when I and most people left. So I feel strongly, that there is a huge gap in updated information on the game from like the past two years content updated on YT. I feel like a lot of content creators are taking for granted people know all the updates and changes they're coming back to from the last few years and they don't. If you want to make content for NW, I recommend more early to mid game because most everything you find on YT is out of date and that's where almost all players are and will be for a really, really long time, both new and returning. The updated basics are hard to find and the game functions so differently than a few years ago. So often I watch's streamers and content creators and I get the impression they feel NW is a game that's like easy to zip to endgame. And for content creators and no lifers, it probably is. But for the majority of well, everyone, it's 6 months to a year just getting your professions up and figuring out how to play and stuff. But the laggy poorly optimized expectance is easily the N1 reason people left before even seeing endgame, and it's not even talked about outside of word of mouth... New World doesn't have a failure problem from lack of content. They have more content than the majority of people will ever be able to participate in. It suffers from a lack of positive expose that's it's actually a fun game mechanically, and not as wooden as it looks, and that people think it's generally a laggy unplayable mess still, which apparently is no longer true and hasn't been the case for some time but people didn't talk that up like they should have at all. Personally for example, I would have been back a long time ago if I just knew they fixed it. I think your content is better than most in regards to updating people on stuff, but yeah, for us returning players, it's rough just trying to figure out all the new stuff from the past few years and like what on YT is still relevant or not. I couldn't even imagine being a new player, I'd get flustered with the lack of reliable resources on what everything is an what the fuck I'm supposed to be doing and just quit. If people want to see this game succeed here's what they should be talkin about is like, hey they fixed the servers so you can actually play again, they also added runeglass, and mutations, and a Sandworms, and a bunch new crafting mats, The crating process changes (it's 250 now!?!? for max crafting?) and a bunch of other stuff since you've probably been gone or are new (AKA, pretty much everyone), here's what it is, here's how you get it, or make it, here's why you need to do it ect. Like the absolute basics that have updated in game form the past few years, are critically lacking updates from everyone on YT. Like I said, you're one of the better at this and if you look at even your uploads in say the last 6 months, probably a lot more, it's mostly just basic next patch info and build guides. I'm not putting this on your shoulders, ultimately it's the games responsibly to market their own updates. I'm just saying, it's easy to see why old players haven't returned because they think the game is still unplayable, and new players wont stick around because ain't no way they aren't totally lost coming in to lv 65 like, "what is all this shit in my storage and how do I use?" Hell I'm lost, and again, 1300 hours when the game came out.

Leveling up trade skills nowadays you don't even need to craft. Salvage loot get armor fragments, weapon scraps etc or buy them on the trade post and quickly get max. Fishing? I got mine up to max just buying fishing experience in the faction shop. Gear? Very cheap entry to 690+ on trade post. Very cheap upgrades in cursed well gambling epic chests. I'm guessing if a new player do things correctly they can probably do M2s after 200 hours. Everything is 10 times easier now than 2 years ago, and the amount of storage items have been simplified a lot be removal of several items' tiers etc. Some parts are going to get more complicated in the future according to road map and I'm looking forward to it

@CellarPhantom First. Everything you just said is like the very most basic stuff you'd find in some rookie how to play NW guide on how to speed run to endgame. That's not actually how you PLAY. You gave no mention specifics of what you actually do with all those mats REALLY. How you craft. What you need Everything for. It's intricate. What you just did. Is exactly what I'm complaining about. Because based on your description, it's like OK, easy. It isn't unless your skipping actually learning how to craft. Maxing out armoring alone is a fucking slog and a half with so much detail and mats to learn about. Also, do not buy gear off the training post. Learn to craft your own. That's some lazy shit and you need you gold for other stuff.

I don't think a PvP server is a good idea. Imagine just a 3rd of the playerbase move to it. The normal servers will feel dead. Most towns you visit now are dead even on Draco. I just don't get it... Why not just add a new part of the map thats just PvP.

Gorgon Hive is cute ... BUT ... since you have to be level 65 to do it, you get ZERO experience points, so you don't level in it, and since each of the 3 bosses only drop loot once a week, regardless of how many times you kill each one, if you clear the dungeon on a Tuesday (like I do), then there is ZERO POINT to go in there until the next week. Sure there are a couple harvesting nodes, but honestly, you can more easily farm the same materials elsewhere. So it's basically a "once a week dungeon". Also, unless you do Hive of the Gorgon, there is little reason to even shoot for 725 gear. Maybe PvP, but since I don't do PvP, I really don't know. The 725 armor is only 1-1.5% better than 700, and the weapon is like 3% better.

I wish the game would add new weapon types. I want katanas, odachi’s, fist etc. we need more supportive weapons in new world too. It would be great if everything had matchmaking too. Once you reach endgame, it’s kind of a middle finger to solo players. If the mid game has matchmaking, why not allow it in endgame too?

You play on pc so prolly off your radar but im concerned about pvp balancing between pc and console. Lock-on is currently doing more harm than good, and lets not forget it was added for console players for a reason... Pvp doesnt feel good on console.

The game is not fun after completing the story. Their end game is small, limited and not fun. Should just be a multiplayer RPG. The mmo elements don't add any value to the game aside from the small percentage of players that will stick with it. I would be surprised if a year from now they aren't in the exact same position they were in before the rerelease.

Cool event? they're all the same, just differently themed. A cool event is Darkmoon Faire in WoW, the New World ones are so bland and just give you another system to grind EDIT: the meteor and the sound it makes is the only cool thing about this "event"

Meh..gear is cookie cutter now pretty much, people over 700gs are wearing gorgon hoplite whatever, and the randomness of ck doubloon gear isnt for me, game is stale. They need to do something. I havent been doing gorgon, so im not even gonna attempt pvp, im just waiting for a worthy update/expansion

just fire the devs and bring new talent because the current people are so slow to update the game. imagine new world still doesn't have any new weapon which is the easiest thing to do because there are alot of weapon in the game already used by npcs , or the devs just give shit people didnt ask for. these devs dont listen they are slow as fuck and no end game the road maps they show they dont even deliver on so why are they still developing lol makes no sense.
