Yes, we did. In 550-750 directly off North Bimini we found plenty of yellow-eyes, along with a handful of silkies and even a few vermillions. Capt Mike

You are correct, it was a Shimano Tiagra along with an Lindgren Pitman S1200. We are NOT currently sponsored by Daiwa. We use a ton of Daiwa reels, but we you will see us branching out to some other products/manufacturers in the near future. Thanks for watching....Capt Mike

Yellow-eye snapper have a bright yellow eye and get slightly larger than silky snapper, usually 2-5 pounds. Silkies are a bit smaller, 1-3 pounds and are a little more pinkish and kind of silky texture to their skin. They are both often caught together. Capt Mike
@dehaanmark11 жыл бұрын
A bit confused as you refer to silky snapper as different from yelloweye snapper. According to my books yelloweye snapper and silk/silky snapper are the same species, Lutjanus vivanus. What is the difference?
@FloridaSportFishing11 жыл бұрын
While it looks very similar to a horse-eye, it is actually is a black jack, member of the trevally family. Capt Mike

Can you tell me how long the line is from the hook to the main line and also what is that plastic that covers the line from the hook to the main line
@FloridaSportFishing10 жыл бұрын
Deep drop rigs are generally 4-6 ft in length depending on number of hooks. The plastic piece you are referring to is a piece of glow tube for a little extra attraction. - Works! - Capt Mike

Almaco jacks are shorter and beefier, they generally reach 20 pounds, Amberjack are longer and more streamlined, reaching 50+ pounds. Mature fish of both species generally inhabit the same structure. Capt Mike
