Was stationed here for 2 and a half months over 2 deployments in the early 90's. The people were amazing and the culture unexpected. Bahrain broke every expectation I had of the Gulf "Cultures". The other guys on my ship (CV-62 USS Independence) were absolutely furious I got to stay here while they hit ports like Jubal 'Ali and Mumbai where Islamic law was in full affect.

I am from Malaysia too and I was fascinated to see your video. I feel like going there as it reminds me of what KL was in the late 80's. Still calm and peaceful with a blend of old and new buildings. Now too much tall buldings all over, it do not feel that calm anymore.

Abdulaziz is the star!! I live in the eastern part of Saudi, very close to where the causeway between Saudi and Bahrain is located and I genuinely feel like it’s my second home.. Thank you for the video, I was there with my parents in 1957 - 67 years ago, can you believe it, we lived in Manama and we went to school in Muharraq and we travelled along the causeway to get there. Awali was a town in the desert and housed the Oil Company and it employees, there was also a refinery there. Dad used to take us out into the desert and I can remember seeing Bedouin Tents , Goat Herds with his goats, camels roaming, and you could smell them before you ever saw them. Wonderful memories, I would love to go back tomorrow if I could.

You'll be so shocked if you visit Bahrain today, it has changed a lot, yet you can still see the old features of the country standing still .. you should visit one day .. no tents, deserts can't be seen easily through the architecture

@@noorebrahim7069 Gosh , sounds to me as if I would not recognise anything. One thing , Mum and Dad took me to a Blue Pool not certain where but wondered if that still exists. It was like a small lake. So my lovely desert has gone now, such a shame, we used to travel on what could loosely be described as a once was a tarmac track, not a road by a means to get there.

@@bernadettec6386 Manama sea front has dramatically changed, I was born 90s though but my parents are from Manama .. a lot of land reclamation occured and lots of buildings were built in early 2000s... You will still see the old landmarks hanging on in between. You will enjoy it . Locals are more conservative than they used to but coexistence still exist Seems like the road was to the south ? It's asphalted now .. was it a synthetic pool with lots of palm trees ? Or was it by the sea ?

I miss Bahrain. We were there back & forth from 1980-1990 and stayed for 3-4 months (March-June) during our school Summer break yearly because of my Father's job benefits from Gulf Air. We love over there the Raft races, camel racing (as well as horse racing), swimming at the famous Sheik Beach, shopping at the souq, going to American & British Clubs and every other day, we'll just go with our Dad to his Bowling tournaments at Bushiri Bowling centre. Our stay in Bahrain have left us great memories and really love Bahrain. Thanks for sharing this video!

Bahrain is one of the safest country. Lovely country. So cool. Aside from the bad few Bangladesh and bad locals that made it hell for Nigerians who came to bahrain. But really. Bahrain is a nice country. Growing economy.

Great video. Just to correct that: 1.It's called the Persian Gulf. 2. Beautiful Bahrain was Iran's 14th state till 65 years ago, that's why Farsi is their 2nd language.

Very lovely country. I m sure you stayed in Juffajr and you enjoyed the club lifestyle during the weekends. The only issue about bahrain is that they have some bad locals who scammed we Nigerians.
