Lived in California for almost 10 years, and the back of Silicon Valley got as hot as Dubai or more, but the AC systems could not hold the temp under 90F...

When i went to dubai in 2012 for visit burj khalifa top observatory was done in 1 day, this guy is to busy he didnt even go there in 20 years, or does not want to go. One of my old work mate working in Dubai told me as a tourist the bling bling looks good, however when you live here you start to see the that its all fake. To even survive socially you have to have the best, so you have to work extra hard, ending up with no work life balance. I guess the people having the best life is locals, ofcourse if you are a princess then its a total other story.

Dubai is not an easy place to live if you are an expat. Rents are very high, the whole standard of living is high and if you are not paid as a CEO or engineer/doctor there should be compromises. From a tourist point of view Dubai is great, for permanent living not so much.

I must admit I’m mystified by these comments and the skewed picture this video portrays. Dubai is the most soulless place I’ve been on this planet. The urban planning is built for helicopter panorama photos but on the ground it’s the worst urban planning of any world city. The roads are senselessly giant and the neighborhoods senselessly spread out as skyscrapers reach towards the sky near wide tracts of desert. It's like if a four year old enamored of shiny things randomly plopped design elements from other cities together, lacking any coherent vison. Last I checked it was still being built by slaves numbering in the hundreds of thousands while the racial caste system is obvious to anyone with eyeballs. A shiny facade covers up a society that is an empty nightmare of excessive consumerism.

Very tough to find a job in Dubai nowadays so I wouldn’t bother trying especially if you have a weak passport .. there is no such thing as minimum wage in Dubai there are very limited opportunities and for specific ethnicities, so don’t bother trying and if you do, don’t get your hopes up.
