Bail Organa Sees Darth Vader For The First Time (Star Wars: Dark Lord: The Rise Of Darth Vader)

In this excerpt, soon after Emperor Palpatine and the Senate recently met. Bail Organa and Mom Mothma talk about the recent past, leading up to the present, and the future. Bail Organa and Mom Mothma disagree with Palpatine, just like in Revenge of the Sith, and think the Jedi were innocent. Nevertheless, despite Padmé Amidala's wishes, they voted for Palpatine. Mom Mothma makes the decision to hold off on acting out until they have allies' assistance. Mom Mothma thinks that some Jedi had endured Order 66 while at the landing bay. They spot some Stormtroopers and a towering black figure just before Bail responds. Darth Vader was the tall figure. Bail shook when he heard this. He thought Anakin/Vader was gone.
Bail responds by stating that probably some Jedi have survived.

I don't blame Bail Organa for his reaction to seeing Darth Vader in his suit for the first time. I'd be frightened as well.

I like this. Interesting how Bail knew Vader's identity in Legends. Its clearly not the case in canon anymore

In the canon novel Bloodline... Bail record a message to Leia confessing that her real father is Vader. So he definitely knows.

I listened to this audiobook for the first time and I freaking loved it. I don’t really mind that it was abridged, however I still wanna learn about the chapters I missed. Even though I loved the story I still think Darth Plagueis and Shadow Hunter were better, but this has become my 3rd favorite.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I adore James Luceno's writing. I also love the audiobook as well. Johnathan Davis is a very good narrator. He's up there with Marc Thompson, Daniel Davis, and others. I haven't read Shadow Hunter yet, I really want to read it soon, though.

@@buntsbooks I love Shadow Hunter. Believe it or not I actually hated it at first when we only had the abridged version. At the time I didn’t know it was abridged and when I was listening to it I found it boring and kinda stressful to listen to. It was only until we got the unabridged version narrated by Sam Witwer that I realized the story wasn’t complete. I instantly deleted the abridged version then posted the unabridged version, and I loved it so much saying “it all makes sense now”. Jonathan Davis and Sam Witwer are fantastic at narrating novels.

The narrator for Shadow Hunter isn't all that great. I disliked his narration for Rouge Planet, and the book as a whole. And I agree, Sam Witwer is an amazing narrator.

@@streetsdisciple0014 Also, he asks himself the question that nobody else in SW bothers to ask - does Bail actually have a right to Leia if her father is still alive? Also, he essentially throws his colleague under the bus to protect her. It's a really gray moment, more than we're used to getting from Bail
