I took Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps Part I with Mitchell, I learned new tricks that books do not teach you. At the end of the night, Mitchell tested our knowledge. I made a bunch of mistakes but I learned something new and the right way of doing things in HVAC. If you are here, you are in the right place. Thanks, Mitchell for sharing your knowledge.

This is really useful information, I have participated in many of these training classes, they are really fantastic, and have helped my career immensely. Seriously, If you want to be in the HVAC industry, regardless of what capacity, you need to get the training, and when you are done with the training, you will need to get more, because everything changes rapidly. If you just got out of trade school, keep getting the training. Want a better position or a raise, get more training. Sick of beating your head against a wall and still cant fix the machine, Get more training. Want your job to be easier, get more Training. Want more Job security, Get more training. If the Training is Free or very low cost, its a No Brainer, get more training..

There are some classes that are free that you can take at night through IHACI, here is the link, and yes even though you are in Florida. The only problem is the time, the classes start at 6pm PST. www.ihaci.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/2022-IHACI-Training-Schedule-DT-FEB.pdf

There are various grants available for students wishing to go to a trade school, not sure any are based on race or ethnicity. However, many grants are based on income. I would suggest that you contact a trade school in the area you live as they usually have councilors that can help you obtain funding for the school.

Can I take advantage of free courses even if I don't live in the state ?
@baileysair2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can. In fact many companies send people to the NCI classes that are sponsored by SCE from out of State. Otherwise, the class would cost $900 instead of $100 or $150. There is also a ton of classes that are on demand at both SCE and PG&E, which you can do at your own pace. Plus the classes are still all online at both SCE and PG&E so you can take the classes from the comfort of your living room. Next month there is a class that is live being sponsored by TECH Clean California from NCI on Residential System Performance. It costs $150 and is three days in Sacramento. They have a class capacity of 22 and should fill up. Here is a link to the class. nationalcomfortinstitute.com/TECHCleanCA/training/residential-hvac-system-performance-electrification-sacramento-ca-june-14-16/

How do you register to be a pgne hvac contractor?
@baileysair3 жыл бұрын
Pretty simple, contact the comfortable home program that is administered by Franklin Energy for PG&E. They used to require that you have a B-General contractors license. However, I think they have relaxed that portion. You also will need a BPI certified person to do all your tests. However, I think you can hire someone and not need some one on staff.

I need a little more clarification of what you mean by preppy.
@legendary_shorts998711 ай бұрын
Preppy is a website that has a comprehensive hvac course, I am asking that it is worth it to buy..... It also provides certification of NATE and EPA 608..... I am a student who lives in Canada.
@baileysair11 ай бұрын
I checked it out and without actually paying the $3000 or $2600 I am not sure what you are getting with that. The best way to learn this trade is through on-the-job training, that is how I learned. Of course, it was my dad's company and was a type of forced labor as my mom would pick me up school to go out and work on the job, and during summer vacation I worked with my dad for $10 a day, but this is not an option for most people. However, many companies will hire you as a helper/apprentice and you can sign up for night classes at many junior colleges to complete your training. Another path is to join a union, although this path takes longer it does have great benefits in the long run. A third option is to get all the free training that is our there. Even though you are in Canada you can take tons of online training through Investor owned utilities in California. In addition, I would go to HVAC School.com and sign up at their website for free courses and watch all the KZbin stuff they have. You could also go to ESCO institute and take their online course for $200 on the fundamentals. If you want to be a service tech you will need training as most companies will hire you as an helper for install but not many companies have helpers for service. However, you could be going to school for the service portion at night or taking classes online while working as a helper, just confirm with your company that you are training to be a service tech and that is your ultimate goal and not be an installer. I also feel this gives you a well rounded expertise as you switch from install to service I think you become a better technician and a more valuable employee as you can always fall back to install. Here are a few links check them out. www.acservicetech.com/store hvacr.elearn.network/bundles/air-conditioning-fundamentals-full-course www.escogroup.org/ hvacrschool.com/courses/
