Great track from ex-gordons Bailter Space, who are still creating music and living in New York (see their myspace page for more videos - www.myspace.com... )
Note - this is from official Flying Nun DVD - buy a copy from www.smokecds.co...

I'm an old original wave Shoegazer I'm 47 now and heard this in 93 and all I can say to the young people who love shoegaze and drone......I'm happy u guys, appreciate it because it was hard being 14 and,15 and trying to explain to a pre internet world the beauty of this music.... I was a hardcore kid.....until an older friend introduced me to Ride Nowhere....and I was immediately changed.... in that first 6 months I got to hear MBV loveless.....Chapterhouse....Swervedriver .....Curve......Catherine Wheel Medicine and many more.....as they were coming out!!!!! It was the most transformative time of my life. .Cheers geezers and gazers

Im 23 and I started to listen to shoegaze maybe 4 years ago. My tastes changed a lot in that span and albums that were “unlistenable” to me at the start, are often some of my current favorites. I think there is a learning curb with this genre a bit. Anyways, I realized I really enjoy the ethereal/melancholic/sleepy/wall of noise type of shoegaze. Well I envy you and what you lived through, and it was cool to read your comment

@beauyerks7413 yep I’m in the same camp too 47 was also listening to boat. There’s a band from the Hawke’s Bay in New Zealand called Looma. A nod to the name of an MBV song. Love the soundscape the guitar makes, though I’m certain Alister multitracks them.

When I was living on Aro Street, one evening there was this primordial ground throbbing bone vibrating sound emanating from Bodega, just around the corner really. As I came through Aro park into the next street I asked my friend if the knew who was playing there that night. "Bailter Space". It was this song they were playing. I listened to it and really enjoyed it as i walked along two blocks away. It was probably the loudest band I've ever heard coming out of that venue. It sounded good.

Robot World, an unappreciated masterpiece. One of the best albums in rock history. They achieved a sound on this album that I think My Bloody Valentine's Loveless was striving for but didn't attain due to overproduction. Powerful, melodic, propulsive, and a concept album on top of that. The band at its peak.

Wow. Very cool to see NZ bands in anyone's top 10. I remember hearing the title track of 'Bleeding Star' on a generally half-arsed NZ music radio show around 1995 (probably on Hauraki. Aside: I remember they once played the same show two consecutive weeks by mistake. I rang the station to advise, and even as a 13 year old I could tell no one really cared). That wall of distortion, and the little motif that rings out amongst it. Still cool.

Can I just say how fresh this song is. I keep playing it, sharing it, and listening to it. Reminds me of THE PIXIES, HUSKERDU, and SUGAR.
