Real beauty John Skinner! Couple of more please before you snowbird it!

One of the things I like most in this video was the reminder to finish the retrieve. It's easy to just burn the last "x" amount of line in at the end and recast. But it seemed like many of the fish you caught came in the last 20 ft maybe of the retrieve. I've had stripers sometimes chase my plug up onto the beach out of the waves and I was shocked. They didn't turn away and swim back.

The surf fishing videos are my favorite. I love that you categorize your videos into playlists so I can easily find the Surf Fishing related ones. I also love that your videos do not have any music. I prefer to hear just the commentary, birds, wind and the waves. Love the salt strong course too - I’ve watched several times and listen to the audio files while I’m driving out East sometimes. I’ve been following for years but never comment.

If you look straight down at 11:55 you can see a decent size striper follow the bucktail all the way in and then turn to go back out.

@ only mentioned it since John didn’t. I was thinking he was going to say along the lines of always reel the lure all the way in. You just never know if they are just following it and haven’t committed.

Mr. Skinner, I say with all due respect and the greatest esteem, you are the Walter Cronkite of stripers on the surf.

Like you said John, same situations this fall in southwestern CT. Whether it be blues earlier this fall or stripers earlier this month, the schools weren't too big and no hits or followers outside of the primary school. I've been very surprised and disappointed with how quiet the local waters have been this fall. No true blitzes. Hardly any splashing compared to a typical fall run. With all the dry sunny weather we've been having, the water temperatures at the local NDBC location are still around 58, but it's still very quiet.

Thanks for that report. Very consistent with what I've seen.

" lock and load," is backwards. One must load first and then lock the bolt or breach which must be locked before one can fire. Locking means holding the round in the correct, saft place so firing can occur.

Just looking at the two it looks like the new one has a bigger main gear. The handle is beefed up too. Spool seems to be sealed better.

Would you say the real boga grip is better than the ones on Amazon? Big price difference
@JohnSkinnerFishingКүн бұрын
The original boga grip is one of the highest quality things of any kind I have ever owned. I know nothing about the amazon version. Mine is 30 years old, is rinsed once a year. It spent 5 weeks on the bottom of the sound a couple of years ago. Still in great condition.

@jny782 күн бұрын
If I had a channel. It would be the nastiest, stinkiest channel ever. I was out this morning on the north shore and I didn’t see any wind or birds or dragons if that matters. I honestly think that John Skinner is a myth like Zeus or Poseidon if you want to be technical. But man I could not find the damn fish this morning! John if you are reading this, please your powers to make my day less shitty! Thanks sincerely the guy who sucks at fishing. And ps. Loved the video
