Forgot to mention I did apply new scent on the bait fuel lure about every 20 minutes, pretty consistently.

I personally think it’s all hype. I haven’t really noticed a difference and I fished it hard last year. I’m gonna fish with it again this year but overall it’s overhyped to me

Obviously in Clearwater, action and profile will always dominate because they're reacting by sight. I would think that on a very subtle presentation, there's a possibility it can make a difference. Obviously when Berkeley does the study a fish will tend to hold their scent longer than a normal plastisol. If it works it will be more dominant Lee noticeable in dirty Stillwater finesse fishing or when a bass comes up to study your bae when you're slow twitching or deadsticking, it may make that subtle difference. We know from that one study that bass have a very good sense of smell... The study were they blinded and blocked the nostrils of the bass where smell was the predominant factor for them to go back and find their beds. I had a bass spit my senko pretty fast the other day. Wish I would have had some bait fuel to give it another try. It also was dirty water

Thanks for your review - you need to reapply baitfuel every 3-5 casts in order to consistently be considered "ON" the bait. every 20 minutes reapplying would mean after 5 casts you have no baitfuel dispersing in the water column.

My thing is since it disperses in the water who's to say it's not working even though it's not on the bait if you're casting on the same area.

So if they are biting everything it doesn't matter. Question is, if the bite is tough does it make a difference? That's the difference.

One of the things about Baitfuel is it disperses in the water. It's designed to fire up fish that normally wouldn't bite. If you are throwing one cast after the other, switching up, but casting on the same area, that Baitfuel is still in the water firing up the fish whether you put it on a different bait or not. I appreciate the attempt but the methodology is still flawed. I'm not saying that Baitfuel is all it's cracked up to be. I'm just saying that it doesn't necessarily have to be on the bait to be working.

Mineral oil is cheap and it masks your smell just as well not sure if it matters I can’t prove it does

To say it got steamrolled by unscented means your study is nherently flawed already. Unless we believe the scent repelled the fish or impeded it's action Both of which seem unlikely... You may have an argument that it actually repelled them because it was too stimulating. That is something that they tried to calculate in their testing. The more appropriate test would be a long term study dead sticking and or in dingy water to a trend bring them in. Ir how long they hold it swallow without a hook of course. . These supposed compounds are going to be more about whether or not it elicits a response after investigation and will make the difference of picking it up. Also whether or not those compounds elicit a response to hold it longer.

I disagree because it looks to me like you were using the un-scented bait more but I have very good luck with it but I let my baits sit in bait fuel overnight and it works good for me
